With the economy the way it is right now, Are you planning a family vacation? Or just a vacation for yourself and some friends? I have not been on a vacation since 2003, and boy do I need one. However, right now I just can't do it. So are you traveling this summer?

I dont think that there are any places that I need to go this summer. I think that there are some possibilities of places to go, but I dont really want to spend any money. No, I am not planning on going on vacation this summer. But, my husband would love to go somewhere but we don't have the money this summer. We are saving our money for next year. We are going on a cruise in November 2010 out of San Juan. [sharlahodges]

Hey momma! I am planning to go to Florida to visit my Mother. I wouldn't exactly call it a vacation! We don't get along very well, but I haven't been to see her in over 10 years and she is very angry at me! We have some things that we need to try to straighten out so I need to go see her. I was planning on going down in May. I am now even more scared of flying because of this swine flu thing! I hate flying as it is! Now this is making me more scared! It is already here in NYC! Hubby and I want to travel to Georgia to see the Georgia Aquarium this summer. It's only a 5 hour drive, not that far so we hope to soon and if not then maybe in the fall. While down there, I'm going to meet a mylot friend, OreoCookie which is my kitty Sassy's mommy. I'm Sassy's other mommy. LOL It should be fun! [CatsandDogs]

M family is planning a vacation and it seems like a lot of people are because Motels are filling up fast. When I have tried to go to a nice place to eat it seems that I have to wait because of the number of people eating out. The media wants this crisis to be worse than it is. I have heard of restaurants that were doing a very good business until some TV Star or Movie Celeb suggests that we all cut back and not go out to eat, while they still have the million dollars parties. There is a quick down turn in people eating out because Suzie Start said the economy was bad. Remember when the President said it was wrong for the business to hold meetings in Las Vegas while the country was in a recession. The implication was that people who took vacations when others were suffering these were evil people. The result was massive cancellations of reservations to Las Vegas which caused an increase in Unemployment int the Hotels and Restaurants. I will be one of those"evil People" and will enjoy my vacation and help the local economies of the places I visit. Hopefully I will not be the reason for some hard working person losing their job. Hey Miss Lady, this summer me and my husband are going to Myrtle Beach, SC... he is from South Carolina and has allot of family members I havent met yet. I was told its very nice, and there is allot to do on the hotel strip. we are going to stay at a Town on the Grove resort for 5 days I hope its nice... the thing that got me was the cost of hotel more than both our plane tickets combined. the good hotels are really expensive, but we are saving up until that week so it wont be so bad:o) [AcousticSoul]

we would like to take our daughters to our nations capital (ottawa) and see the sites there. we havent been since our oldest daughter was 3 and i was pregnant with our baby (our baby is now 12!) so we will have to see how our funds hold out! [cher913]

Me and a friend of mine are going to travel down the country and visit some friends that we met online for 4 days, so it is a bit of a holiday. I was going to go to Amsterdam with my friends, but people didn't pay her in time so we couldn't go, so I am just going to go up the country and go camping, so that is a bit of a holiday as well. I would love to go the Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia and Vietnam this summer. I've already buy the ticket when the airline make the crazy sale, although I will fly with the low cost carrier airlines. Actually I want to go the the eastern part of Indonesia, but the ticket price is out of question. So expensive. Maybe next year I will be there to see the Komodo Island, the three color lake Kelimutu and the pink Beach in Rinca Island. [sarijeruk]

I don't have any plan of traveling this summer because of financial reasons. If I have to travel to go visit my parents, I have to spend a lot for fare. I have 3 kids and I would have to ride 3 times with all the luggage,food on the way and taking the 3 kids? sure my hubby can not go if ever I will have summer vacation because he is working. I am definitely planning on traveling this summer. I have some family out of town that I can't wait to see, and friends that I hope to visit on day and weekend trips. I am trying to keep as much time available as possible to see all the people that I miss and who don't live nearby. Due to the economy, I've been able to find some great deals on flights, too! Hi, Interesting topic because yes i am going to travel this summer. I am going to visit France with a friend and i'm gonna stay at his family's place. Well we are going there for about 2 weeks and planning to visit Paris and many other towns and old castles. We are very lucky because our plane tickets were cheap, so we had a good deal for a round trip from Montreal-Paris etc. I'm just hoping to get some nice weather there during my vacation. Me and my boyfriend are going on a two week vacation around the Philippines. My country has 7,107 islands that I have not explore all of it and this a good opportunity for me and also to relax at the beach. We took budget but good accomodations and I booked economy plane tickets. We want to enjoy our vacation but spending less. We are going to do some trekking, snorkeling, kayaking and swimming this summer. We are both adventurous persons. [sophie_dfuss]

I don't know as yet. I know summer will be with us soon, but haven't decided what to do for now. Like you said, the financial pressure is a bit too much. If I leave it will be for some European country - I live in Europe - so a couple of hours' flight but still not sure. It sure would be nice... my 25th class reunion is coming up this summer and my brother whom I have not seen in 13 years doesn't live too very far away from where the reunion is... but that is a 1000 mile trip for us and we recently became unemployed (no unemployment insurance income either) so it does not appear to be possible at this time, barring any wonderful landslide of fortunate events altering our bleak circumstances. I have already had to forward my trip this year due to my circumstances. It was winter in January in my home country whilst in was summer in South Africa. So in that month I took my toddler son to Cape Town and the Garden Route. The weather was warm and sunny. We saw penguins and went on a two and a half hour safari. I go on a vacation at least once every year. That is because I am very keen on traveling. [maximax8]
Yes, I am traveling to another country this summer with my family. I am really excited now even if it is still 3 weeks from now. I am even more excited because I haven't been to this country ever and I want to see all the sights the country has to offer and is famous for. At the moment we are planning a long weekend camping, fishing, and boating with my family (who I only see 3 or 4 times per year). So we are really looking forward to that. We will be going somewhere that I haven't been to before but not out of the way. Looking forward the spending quality time with family. I'm sure we may go somewhere else this summer but nothing huge by any means. The kids are still small right now so I tend to put off big trips untill they are a bit older and can go on the big rides. Not this summer (the summer's already almost over) but some time in the next year or so, my husband and I are planning on taking a trip up to Montral to get away for a vacation, and to see some of my family that live up there.
