Whenever I have to travel it's either long or short trip I always find it hard to have sleep! There are times that I don't have a good sleep and thinking to have one in the plane but I'm still struggling to have one! I know that if you are in first class it will be easy but that would be very expesive! But I saw a few person that would fall asleep pretty easy! What about you?

I too find it very difficult to sleep in a plane. Especially during the day, i would rather take a window seat and keep staring out and enjoy the view. In the night I do try to get a nap,but get easily disturbed with the movement of people or a little bit of turbulence. [alokn99]
I think that's the best thing we can do have a window seat and enjoy the view or wacth movie! I even try to bring book with me to read because I know if I read I will fall asleep but that doesn't work with me either! Thank you for your response. [CJay77]
My mum can sleep for a long time on planes, but I can't. I can never get comfy enough. I also do not eat on planes. When I was younger I used to get very sickon them and just the smell of food on a plane makes me feel ill. Because of these reasons I try to avoid long flights. I used to go to America (12 hour plane journey) and at the end I would be so tired and so hungry I would not know what to do with myself. [dagda24]
I am very jealous to those who can sleep easily! If you can't eat plane food I think you can also bring some snack with you, or eat something before your flight! The longest flight I've been is to go to India and because I also have 10 hours stop over in Bangkok that is the worst flight I've ever been. Thank you for the response. [CJay77]
I'm too excited to sleep if I'm going on holiday and I only sleep on a bed.Rarely sleep in a car or other places cause they have to be quite and there has to be no noise cause I'm easily awaken. [swtlady]
I think excitement is one of the reason that I find it hard to get some sleep! [CJay77]
I can't really sleep on the plane. If it is a long flight, I still can't go to sleep after they turned down the light. There will still be some people moving aroung or something. I need peace and quiet when I sleep. But when tiredness takes over, nothing will stop me from falling asleep. [SydneyHazelton]
Even they turn the light off I still find it hard to sleep and even I'm so tired! But I will close my eyes for a while because that's help me a bit! And that nice that you can sleep when you are tired! Thank you for the response. [CJay77]
I sometimes get air-sick travelling in a plane. So to avoid headaches and queasiness in the stomach, I try to sleep. And I'd feel much better when I wake up. [lazeebee]
Thank God that I don't have air-sick or queasiness in my stomach whenever I travel! It's just hard for me to have sleep! And I will agree with you that would makes us feel better when we have sleep. Thank you so much for your response. [CJay77]
When I am going on a flight I try to have a good sleep and rest before I go. Even it will be a night flight I might not be able to snooze off in my uncomfortable seat with little leg room. I have to wear ear planes to stop me getting severe ear pain. These plugs in my ears are noticeable and wearing them tends to keep me awake. I have used those since 1997 when a friend gave a pair of these to try out. On my trip around the world in 1993 my flight from Hawaii to Fiji the plane had few passengers. I had three seats to lay down so this was blissful and I slept soundly. In 2005 I got a free upgrade to business class on my flight from the Maldives to England. My seat was comfortable and spacious with lots of leg room. The cabin crew members were very attentive and I was enjoying my flight too much to want to sleep. First class I have heard has seats that convert into fat beds. I can always sleep in a comfortable compartment on a train which I can afford. I would never be able to afford to fly in business class or first class, economy class is always cramped. [maximax8]
Hi maxi,I also try to have a good sleep before I go but I think sometimes I am so excited and because of that I can't have a good sleep! I chew gum to avoid ear pain and it seems to work with me. I never been lucky to have spare seats and maybe if I have I will probably fall asleep! I never been in the business class or first class my husband has been and I heard from him that you can easily fall sleep, I heard from him also that seats can be converted to fat a bed, and he has the same problem like me, the only time he can sleep is in the first class and by the way it was a company expenses, lol. Most of our flight was economy. Thank you for your response. [CJay77]
It's really hard but sometimes pretty easy when I am exhausted before boarding. [snebxu66]
Yes it is hard, and even though I'm exhausted! Thanks for the response. [CJay77]
Nah i dont get easily sleep,if i can then i will be easily to wake up to specially when the airplane is shaking sad I felt really terrible inside and felt nervous. But sometimes i cn fall to sleep when the airplane dont move hehe. [swennerholm]
Hi swennerholm, yes it's really hard to get sleep in the plane! But at least you can sleep when the plane is not moving.happy Thank you for your response. [CJay77]
It is very uncomfortable. Especially since I usually sleep on my side, not my back. I think sleeping sitting up is hard in general, and also I feel bad about leaning my seat back for the people behind me, which would make things more comfortable. [TheHawkBat]
Yes I agree that it's not comfortable get some sleep because of the seats! I do feel bad leaning my seat also. Thank you for your responsehappy. [CJay77]
for me it's quite easy. i fall asleep pretty fast if i'm at the back seat in a car or on the plane haha! cool [kevsgirlalways]
I guess you are one of the lucky people!happy. Thank you for your response. [CJay77]
I cannot enjoy a good sleeping in the plane. Not only the noise of plane is loud, but the air pressure in the plane is always make me feel uncomfortable. There is always something wrong with my ears in the plane, what I want is just land off quickly and go out and breath the fresh air. [arthurSung]
I thankfully don't have problem with air pressure! What I find uncomfortable is the seat. I hope you will find it easier for your next travel. I guess we all want the plane to land quickly! Thank you very much for the response. [CJay77]
i can sleep anywherehappy i remember, when i was flying to Abu Dhabi, i fell asleep and my band mate had to wake me up because it was time for dinner, then i went back to sleep againrolleyes [hornetlover]
You such a lucky person! I don't mind jetlag as soon I am home I can sleep. [CJay77]
when i travel i dont sleep. long or short distance. i just do reading or watch movies that they are showing to lessen my boredom. [zeny_zion]
Maybe because you already have a good sleep before your flight! I do read also or watch movie because I can't sleep and that's the only I can do, lol. Thank you for your response.happy [CJay77]
I hate long plane trips because I snore when I sleep; and even if the engines are so loud no one could possibly hear me, I still feel self-conscious so try to stay awake. By the time I reach my destination I'm dead tired, the hotel room is never ready and I end up falling asleep in some public place. I should have slept on the plane, shouldn't I? [6precious102]
I don't like long flight either but sometimes we have no choice but to cope with it! Don't mind the snore unless all the passenger would hear it, lol..... As you said you don't snore loud should be ok, so you don't have to fall asleep in a public place and don't have to feel dead tired. Thank you so much for your response. [CJay77]
yes it is hard to sleep on the plane and our bed because we are not use in sleeping while we sit [skywolfcel]
I know it's hard to sleep while sitting! Thank you for your responsehappy. [CJay77]
I unfortunately have to fly a LOT and the flights times I generally have suck to be honest! So it is usually overnight and very uncomfortable. The only time I seem to be able to get some decent sleep on a plane is if I am flying Business Class; but most of the time I am flying Economy so if it is an overnight flight I try to get a window seat so I can at least rest up against the side wall with a pillow! Overall I find it hard to sleep on a plane because not only is it uncomfortable but you are always wary of the stranger sitting next to you as well and don't wish to end up falling asleep all over them or snoring or something! lol [James72]
At least there are times that you have to fly business class! I am weary also to sleep because of the person besides me! Thank you for your response. [CJay77]
Normally I don't have a problem falling asleep on the plane, but this last trip I took was not so easy. I just couldn't get comfortable at all! [reinydawn]
I think sometimes it also come to the airlines that we flew on! I think my biggest problem not to get some sleep is the people around me and getting comfortable. Thank you for your response. [CJay77]
Well, I'm used to travelling...and have found my comfortable position when I need to sleep on a flight. But I do have a problem when I am travelling with my kids and can't catch a wink. When my son sleeps, I want to be awake and when he's awake...I need to keep an eye on him. The older one was pretty easy but I still was worried and wanted to keep an eye on him. But my little one can be quite a handful and can't sleep if he can't find HIS comfortable position and that's hard in a plane. He gives me a hard time on short flights. I'm dreading my trip to Africa next year....I just hope he's going to settle down by then. I think I find it easy to fall asleep in a flight because I'm not very tall and the space is sufficient for me. I usually open the table and put a pillow on it and sleep that way (like we would take a nap at school). [SViswan]
Sorry haven't seen this one before. I'm sure that mothers are always think about their kids all the time. I guess enjoy your time when they independent, lol. Thanks! happy [CJay77]
I really find it hard to sleep other than a real bed. So imagine how difficult it would be if I'm on a plane. I don't usually sleep when I'm traveling whether it be on a plane, on a boat, on a bus, on a car or wherever that involves traveling. It's just really hard to get my self to sleep. I'm very sensitive even with the slightest movement or even with the littlest noise. So I would rather have a seat next to the window to appreciate the view of the world. hehehe [potrish78]
Hi potrish, I think I'm exactly the same! And there are sometimes that I'm not lucky enough to get a window seat. Thank you for your response happyhappy. [CJay77]
I have enough trouble falling asleep in my own bed - you can bet I have trouble in the plane. So, to make it easier, the last time I flew to England, I took some meds to take on the plane that would help me sleep - and it did. On the way back, we were so worn out and getting sick that both of us, the roomie and I, slept like logs! [ElicBxn]
Thank you for responding back happy. I guess I will also let the nature do the job. [CJay77]
yes its very hard to sleep while traveling.it would be great for me if i can sleep since i have problems of my travelsickness. [bombshell]
Good luck on your trip and I hope better luck sleeping on the plane that I do! lol. [CJay77]
I never fly, beacuse I´m very afraid of heights. But I find it easy to sleep in many places. For example, when I go by train or car,I very often fall asleep [Mickey_Mouse1]
I'm also afraid of heights but I don't have problem when I'm in the plane! The only things bothers me is that I can't get any sleep whenever I travel its either by train or car. Thank you so much for your response. [CJay77]
I, too, can't sleep on a plane. I have tried to but it is just way too uncomfortable to sleep. I don't know how people do it. I have fallen asleep once on a plane and I woke with such a sore neck that it wasn't worth the half hour that I slept. I have been on a plane lots. I live in Calgary and my husband lives in Winnipeg so I have flown back and forth several times. It is only a two hour flight so usually I don't want to sleep but sometimes coming home I wish I could sleep because as soon as I get off of the plane I go straight to work. And I am usually pretty tired because I never slept much on the weekend because I wanted to spend as much wake time with my husband. I am not a good sleeper under normal circumstances so sleeping on the plane is very difficult for me. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good day, Chris [chrislotz]
Hi chrislotz! I too not a good sleeper, not just in the plane I mean in general. I guess there are some people that just need a chair and would fall asleep easily, lol! Thankfully you only have two hours in the plane to see your husband. I have been in a long flight and didn't get any sleep and I feel so tired after. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day, Chris. BTW, I would love to add you as a friend and I hope that ok. Thanks! happy [CJay77]
I don't think it's hard to fall asleep, it's just very uncomfortable to sleep because you're in an upright position surrounded by strangers who are snoring or talking. [vanonas]
Hi vanonas! Thanks for adding me as friend. happy I guess that the reason I find it hard to fall asleep in the plane, people around us and uncomfortable seat! But I know that there are some people that can easily fall asleep while traveling. Thanks for the response. [CJay77]
Yes it is a bit difficult for me.I can sleep but it wont be the deep slumber I have in my own bed.lol [balasri]
sorry for i have not take a plane^^ [xiran678]
Yes, maybe not in the first time, because you will be excited! I hope that you get to travel one day. Thanks for the response, xiran. happy [CJay77]
Hi CJay. It's really difficult for me to fall asleep in the plane. Actually not only plane. I would find it more comfortable to sleep in a bus. The seat in the plane is just too small, i can't really place my legs up and the back is too straight for me. Even i do fall sleep but i would definitely wake up after a while. So, i can't really take a good sleep in the plane. I saw some people just lie down on few seats and sleep because the seats are not occupied. I always want to do that but no chance. sad Have a nice day and happy mylotting. happy [lulumartin]
Hi lulumartin! Your lucky to be able to sleep or have a nap in the bus, I can't, but I do close my eyes sometimes to have a bit of rest. I agree that plane seats are very uncomfortable. Its very rare to have few seats that are not occupied, hopefully you'll get luck next time. Thanks and have a nice day. [CJay77]
It's interesting because as a little bit of an insomniac, being on a plane rocks me to sleep. Of course shorter plane rides don't usually knock me out..Maybe it's the anticipation of "deplaning soon" that prevents me from falling asleep. Then again, must be the "Dramamine" i take prior to long flights that rocks me to sleep. Have U tried that? [FikiFiki]
I wish I can, lol! Even at home I find it hard to easily fall asleep and I'm not sure if I have insomnia, but maybe I have! The longest flight I have been is 7 hours and I have another 3 hours before that. All that time I was wide awake, I tried my best to have a nap, but I can't and just couldn't get comfy. Thanks, Fiki, you have a nice day. happy [CJay77]
After a short night many times I said to myself that I try to sleep a bit in the plane. Anyway I always find it difficult to sleep in the plane. I rather have a window seat and enjoy the view. If I am really tired I might sleep for a few minutes but I don't really have a rest. I can always go and chat a bit with the crew. [overwings]
I think its hard because the seats are not comfy at all! There are times that I would ask for window seat also and like you to enjoy the view. I never tried to chat a bit with the crew and thanks for that idea, I might try, lol! Thanks, overwings, and you have a nice day. [CJay77]
i have not travelled much on plane, yes,i have made short trips, but i am usually excited to sleep, thinking of my friends and relatives, whom i will be meeting after a long time.so i just try to relax and enjoy the view. [riyasam]
I find it hard to sleep whether it's short or long trip and its quite annoying specially if its a long trip because I'll get out of the plane looks like I have black eyed, lol. Most of the time, I just try to enjoy the view or watch some movie. Thanks, riya. happy [CJay77]
As I served in the Navy, i've learned to sleep anytime and anywhere I get the chance to. [Sherrypeck19825]
I think that's nice that you can sleep anytime anywhere whenever you get the chance and I wish I can do the same. Thanks, sherry. happy [CJay77]
Hi Cjay, I hate flying so it'll be difficult for me (close to impossible) to get a nice sleep on the plane. Infact I'm not the person that can sleep anywhere, I wish I could..lol. And I've never been on a first class flight either, but still I don't think I can get a decent sleep in there. Because if it's not in bed then I can't sleep ^_^... I get jealous with my husband because he's the type that would fall asleep anywhere, lol. [HiLia2008]
My Husband and I have the same problem getting sleep while traveling and I think your Husband is one of those lucky ones that would easily fall asleep whenever and wherever they get the chance, . I don't mind to be in the plane, but it will be nice to have some sleep specially if its a long flight. Thanks, HiLia. happy [CJay77]
hi CJay, I do easily get sleep when i travel because i easily get head ache. :D That is why when i m on a plane when the plane has not yet taken off i go to sleep so that i won't feel the dizziness. [mlegendr]
You are lucky to be able to get some sleep easily and I wish I'm like you. I don't get headache or travel sickness, I just find it hard to get some sleep. thanks mlegendr. [CJay77]
