Do You Have A Passport

I have a British passport and it lasts for ten years. My toddler son has a passport that he got when he was a baby. His passport will only last for five years and as you might be able to imagine his photo is already out of date. I need to get my older son a new passport because his has now expired. My passport is a burgundy color and it looks similar to any other European Community passport. Do you have a passport? If so what is it like? Color? If you have children do they have passports?

responses and comments:

i have passport or i am not able to stay here in new country i am now and the color of my passport is green an the latest our local government have is purple but mind still acceptable until its validity. and for your last question, its is a no since i dont have children [skywolfcel]
My previous passport was navy blue and it had a hard cover. It had a stronger cover than the one I have now. Then my country wanted everyone to have a European style passport so when I got a new passport in 2005 it is burgundy, smaller than I am used to and it has a flimsy cover. Yes, you need a passport because you are currently outside your home country. When you get a new passport it will be purple then. Thanks for your superb response. happy [maximax8]

Yes i do have a Philippine passport. I got it after i graduated college. That time I applied to be a domestic helper in Lebanon. So i did get everything of my papers done including passport. That time i just want to help my parents so i applied to be a domestic helper. Im still 21 that time i think. After all the paper works i did back out and did not continue for some reasons. Its for my own good also. So i just stay here in the Philippines and work here. My passport will expire 2011 and it was not yet able to go out of my country. Hopefully 2009...i really hope that year a lot will be a year that i can go to the place that i want to go. [nlcapricorn]
It is great that you will go traveling in 2009 with your Philippines passport. Thanks for detailing how you applied to become a domestic helper in Lebanon. It was a lovely idea because you wanted to work overseas in order to help your family. However in the end you were able to stay in the Philippines and work there instead. I am glad that things worked out for you. It will be wonderful when next year my reach your dream travel destination. Good luck. happy [maximax8]

I just have a plain, blue, American passport with a couple of Russian visas and Canadian and Mexican stamps. My old passport had quite a few other stamps. I need to get a replacement soon because this one fell in a river and is relatively unreadable. [Vladilyich1]

The Maltese passport is similar to yours, burgundy colours. I still remember the day when the airport worker kept looking at me for about 15 minutes before letting me in at Heathrow airport. Malta was not part of Eu at that time. I felt like an idiot. Now that we have EU passports we just get in without any questions or problems. [ronaldinu]

Yea,I have a China passport for 3 years, the color of passport is carmine. It's still new after 3 years coz I didn't travel abroad too much, say just Austrailia,S'pore, like that.~~I want to visit more countries in the next few years, lol``hoping that I can save more money to support my travelling plan with my wife`Have a nice day maximax! Yes, I have a passport but I have never used it for travel! This sounds ridiculous but I guess this is how the current climate is, it's very expensive to travel. My passport has nothing but empty, blank pages and it expires in 2010. I must admit though, my passport has been very important in one other area and that is personal identification! Whenever I'm signing up for something or requesting something of the government, they always ask for my passport so I guess it has its uses! I probably won't be doing any travelling now until I renew my passport. Hopefully I can then start having the pages filled with travel visas!! Andrew [AndrewFreyne]

I too, have a british Passport that needs renewing very shortly. I think the ten year ones are a good idea. What I don't like is that children now have to have their own passports, instead of being able to go on their parents passports like they used to do. How do you identify a child from a photo that was taken when they were a baby? It's ridiculous. My daughter is currently trying to get a passport so she can come to Canada for my Wedding next year. She's 10 years old, and it's been a nightmare. Because she lives with her father, and we're no longer together, the passport office wants my name and date of birth, my passport number, and even my original birth certificate and adoption papers, because I was adopted as a baby. It seems to me that they're checking out the background of a child way more thoroughly than they'd check a potential terrorists background! [angelwhispers30]

I have a full UK passport, and I have no idea when it expires! I had the photo on it taken when I was 15 though, so it looks nothing like I look like now! I am going to have to change the photo on it before I go on holiday anywhere, as I wouldn't get through customs, the photo looks that much different! [GemmaR]

I currently do not have a passport. When I was in the service I traveled to numerous countries and never needed one. After that I have not had the urge to do that much international travel. I did travel frequently to Canada and Mexico but until just recently you did not need a passport to enter those countries. I guess some day I will break down and get me a passport just hasn't been that important lately. My son does have a passport and has had for over a year now and I do not think he has used it yet. All a matter of priorities I guess. [eeyore39]

I am a Canadian and my passport is navy and the Canadian government thinks that we are all made of money as our passport only lasts eight years. My husband has one as well. Our sons who are married and getting married have their own passports. Maybe I should complain to the Canadian government because with my husband's health it is doubtful we will be able to travel in the next couple of years and I would feel very bad that the only time I will go to the States or take that next cruise would be if my husband dies. [suspenseful]

I just renewed my passport last March... and i got one for my daughter as well... so both our passports will expire in five years... i got one for my daughter because it is easier to just renew it in the future... i could just do it through the internet... in the past... my country's passport was green... but they changed it to a certain degree of brown... same with other countries' passport... [aseretdd]

i don't have because my father think that i will run away.i love you, send me private message to be my friend [yogesh0505]

I don't have a passport yet but my husband does. He also has the one he got as a child. It is so cute with his little picture in it! My husband is Military and has gone overseas a number of times so he has to have a passport. I am sure my daughter and I will get passports in the near future. My husband wants to do some traveling. Also, we almost got shipped to Italy. If that happens the military will pay for us to get them. [moneyandgc]

I have the latest Philippine passport, before the cover of my passport was green. This time when I renewed it they gave me a new maroon cover, and a computerized data page on the second page. It looks a lot better and a lot durable compare to the last edition. The last green edition cover passports have lots of problems with the data page, the picture in the data page is so vulnerable to damage. Most of the issues about the last passport is the picture can easily be damaged or removed. The recent passport is better now (I hope). But it only lasts for 5 years, after 5 years we need to renew it. And it's unfair that we need visas when traveling to US, Europe, and elsewhere in the world that costs too much! And there's a big chance to get denied when applying for visas. Maybe there are only 5 countries that allows us to enter without visas. So unfair. [geekyjock]

Yeah i do have passport and now a days it has become an identity to have passport. [smartbrain69]

yes I have Indian passport. I have this as it was required to join the job with passport. but the irony is i am never sent abroad. so its not done for me. it sits useless now, at least i think so other than a valid identity card.It is deep blue in colour [subha12]

oh yes... i have a passport... it is an indonesian passport and it is green in color... i just renew it this year because it expired by the end of this year... and i already use my passport once to go to s'pore... and i will be using it again to go back to indonesia in november... take care and have a nice day... [lingli_78]

Yes I jave Indian Pasport that lasts for next 10 years. Now days passport is must for personal identity in your native country and in foreign country passpost is must to carry all the time. am i Right ? .... have a nice day [Anand_neo1]

i have a passport i got it 3 years ago and i already use it once when i went to Thailand for a vacation. my passport will be expired on 2010 so i would need to have it renewed by then. my passport color is green and this is the color of all the passport here in our country. [djmarion]

I do have a passport. My pasport lasted for 5 years. It's color green but when year 2010, Even a green passport is not yet expired, People having that passport are required to renew to a red colored passport. My passport will be expired on 2009. [anne12d]

Nope, no passport do I have or have I applied for, as I'm sure not planning a foreign trip any sooner. Maybe I'll require to have one within next few years, as I wish to go touring the world when I think I can aford it. [I_LUV_U]

I do have a passport, and it expires in 2010. It's blue. I think all American passports are blue. No kids, but if I did, I'd get them passports, as I am sure I'd want them traveling with me. [itsmefaith]

Yes, I have a passport, but I"m afraid I should have renewed it last June. I will have to take care of that at some point. MY kids also had their passports when they were babies and as you say the photo would soon be completely out of date LOL We actually have two passports. One from Canada and one from Portugal. THe canadian one is blue and the Portuguese is burgundy like yours. [arkaf61]

I have a couple of outdated passports. The first one I got was a greenish color and the second was blue. I've known people with children that got a family passport. My green passport lasted for five years and my blue one for ten. [6precious102]

Nope!!! I don't have pass port. I did not get one because I have no plan to go out from the country yet. and If I will get one without purpose, I would pay a large sum. To get a passport is expensive. If I do get one, I must have a sure plan to use it. As of this time passport is not my priority yet. [celestial052506]

sadi dont have yet, but i am planning to get one for my self, i just cant find time to get my passport. but i will be working it out this month.. (i hope..heheherasp) i want to travel next year perhaps.. just go to hongkong or singapore for a tour, there has been a lot of cheap air fares to asian countries but i havent had the chance to take advantage of it.. need to get my passport first before i can go travel! [austere]

Hi maximax, I don't have a children yet! I do have a passport and its color green and it will expired on 2010. I am from Philippines and I think the color of the passport now has change and I didn't know because I was not in our country. I just actually saw from some of responses here that the color has change. [CJay77]

I let my passport expire because I left it to the last minute to renew, and then got sidetracked. I haven't been overseas for a while now, so I will renew it when I need it. It was dark navy blue in colour. [penny64]

I also have a British passport - even though I've lived in Australia since I was six. We wanted to go to Norfolk Island a few years ago, and it would have been harder for me to get an Aus passport than merely renew my British one ... so I did that, and I think it still has one year left! It's a burgundy one - but the one I had previously was dark blue, with a little window thingie on the front - much nicer than the newer style. [guybrush]

I got a passport recently. I live in Portugal and I made one to make things easier when I go to the UK. It cost me 60€ and took a week or two I think. I wish the photo was in color of me but it's black and white. I wish they'd stamp the passport even when going to European destinations, would be a nice souvenir in my passport to keep track of any travel dates... [SKLC_PT]

I just got my passport. I applied for it and it took about 6 weeks for it to come in the mail. My daughter is 25 years old and we both applied the same time and she got hers back in about 3 weeks so I don't know why it took so much longer for mine that hers. But I got it now and so now I can go on a holiday in the states. I want to go to Vegas the beginning of April. My mom and sister are going and it would be nice if I can make it too and then I can meet up with them there. I haven't seen my mom or my sister for about 4 months so it will be nice to see them. We don't live in the same city so I haven;t seen them since I was back home for a visit. We talk on the phone often and by email but it is always nicer to be together in person. My passport is a black case. My picture is in black and white and for the first time in years I finally have a picture of myself I like. It came out really good. I am not a very photogetic person so I was happy with it. My passport is only good for 5 years. I live in Canada and maybe it's different than in your country. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris [chrislotz]

Well i do not have passport.. still not yet come..sad I applied long before.. Its 3 month ago.. i applied the passport.. Still not send me the passport.. in india its realy tough to make the passport.. Its require various document and the lettes for that.. first of all you will tire to get all the certificate and the document.. I takes to collect the all certificate an the document.. after sending tp the passport authority.. Still not came.. Hope it willl come in few days.. good luck [Jinu3132]

i have a passport and i think it's expiring soon. they changed the laws in my country and now passports can't be valid for 10 years. the maximum has been changed to 5 years. And it's troublesome! Anyhow, when i was younger, my passport was a joint passport with my mum's. when i got older, i had my own. and my passport is RED and i hate the picture of me inside. because it doens't look like me. the custom officers have to do a double look whenever i have mine chopped. [regal_aeros]

I don't have a passport as I have no plans to travel aboard yet. I think I will go to issue a password if I will have the oversea travel in a month. It is not necessary to have the passport at usual. I don't want it will be out of valid in vain:) I love China [youless]

Actually no. I've never had any reason to get one. I honestly don't see any reason to have one. Although I've been out of the US...to Canada and Mexico...a passport isn't required to travel to either of those places. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS** [twoey68]

I just applied for and recieved my passport. Now that they have made new rules for entering the United States, and that is pretty much the only place I go, I live in Canada, I needed to get one. I haven't used it yet but you never know when something might come up and I want to go. So I applied for it back in November and I recieved it in January. For a change I like my photo on my passport. I don't usually like my picture. The one on my driver's license is awful. I was planning on going to Vegas on April 3rd and meet my mom and sister there, but I can't afford to do it so I have to stay home. Too bad, maybe soon. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris [chrislotz]

No, i do not have a passport. I am going to get one though as I really want to go to Japan. I have read some of your posts and you are quite a traveller. Have you ever been to Japan? To get a passport here I beleive it costs about $75 ? Starting in June, we need a passport to even cross the border from canada to the US [Ramsay]

Twice they have issued me a green passport- one for the first issuance and the other when i renewed. Now I have a brown passport. It will expire on 2013. It`s very important because I use it for travelling abroad as well as local. My picture in it is just perfect, maybe they have altered some details through photoshop... haha!!! My new passport have to have my old one at the back, joined by staple wire because I now have a different last name being married to a foreigner. I don`t have a child yet but hoping to have one, if we get lucky then I`ll surely get a passport for the baby fast... [edgeofyourseat]

No, but I intend to get one soon. I intended to have it ages ago, but just forgot about it. [veganprince]

I've had an Indian passport since soon after I was born. Though, I'm of Indian origin, I've lived in a different country for many years. My passport is navy blue in colour. My older son had a passport which lasted for five years and it has expired. I've been planning on getting a passport for both my kids for the past one year and have not got around to doing it. I'll be doing it in January or February for sure because I plan to travel abroad in 2010. [SViswan]
