I bought a page for each day calender that is called 'Islands'. It makes me feel happy when I see a photo of a tropical island on it. It is a really lovely thing to have on my desk that that inspires me when I am writing.
I love islands in the sun with white sand beaches and gently waving palm trees. I have been to French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, Samoa, Fiji, Hawaii, the Maldives and the Seychelles.
Do you like islands? If so which type?
Have you visited any islands? If so which ones?

i do yes, the canary islands are beautiful, they are spanish goverened but no where near spain they are on the coast of africs [barbie84]
I went to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands and it has such lovely sandy beaches. I know the Canary Islands are warm to hot year round so tourists from Northern Europe like it there. [maximax8]
Dear friend, I do like islands, I liked it when I visited Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and it is another beauty of nature and hope each islands has its own beauty. I hope this beauty is projected because of water surrounding to it. A close combination of natural water and natural land. happy [SHAMRACK]
They are off the coast India and I imagine you could fly there from Calcutta. [maximax8]
I have been to Vancouver Island and I used to live in England (also an Island) when I was very small. When I was in my teens, I did those paint by number paintings of those tropical islands with the swaying palm trees. I have not been to any tropical islands though. I would not mind going to Hawaii, but with my husband having a stroke, I am afraid I will be unable to get to it. [suspenseful]
You really should go to Buchart Gardens near Victoria. They have tours there and they are child friendly. And another place in the Victoria is the Wax Museum. Plus there is the aquarium. I am sure your toddler would love it and you can get a ride by horse and carriage as well. happy [suspenseful]
Hey maximax! Gtsy! Well, my country consists of 7,100 islands, so no need for me to visit islands outside my country for now. Probably in the future. [newdawn8]
I hope to go to your lovely country one day for some island hopping and snorkeling. I would fly into Cebu and then travel by ferry. I would love to see the Chocolate Hills on Bohol Island. [maximax8]
OK, lets see... I've been to ... Mauritius, Comores, Bali, Java, Singapore, UK (which technically is an island), a few of the Greek islands and Alkatraz ... hmmm... I think that is about it for islands really. Mind you I do also love the tropical islands - the sunshine, sunsets, sea, etc... my first love is a tropical island. Violetdreams [violetdreams]
Wow! You had a fantastic free of charge time in Mauritius. I saw some travel agents on Kerkennah Island in Tunisia. They were doing every kind of different activity. Your honeymoon destination was perfect. happy [maximax8]

I love Islands & I Read your discussions Miss Maximax & i guess you are traveler may be You love traveling another countries & Destinations. have a nice day. [Tushavi]
There is something special about small islands I think. Yes, I love traveling to different countries. My next destination will be Cape Town later this month. [maximax8]
A few years ago we went to Norfolk Island - which is a few hours' flight from Sydney (in between Australia and New Zealand). It was absolutely beautiful - friendly people, historic sites and lovely beaches. Very, very peaceful, and a perfect place to go if you want to chill out, enjoy the scenery and not feel hassled by phones ringing and all the day to day intrusions of everyday life. Norfolk Island has duty free shopping, and the little shops in the main part of town have some incredible bargains in perfume, clothing, shoes and most surprisingly, Lego (which is apparently cheaper there than where it's made). [guybrush]
I haven't been to Lord Howe, but it does look beautiful. I'd probably be able to talk my husband into going there ... no crowds! [guybrush]
Well lets see. I have been to all of the Hawaiian Islands. I have also been to Burmuda and all of the Caribbean Islands. I to enjoy those beautiful white sandy beaches with the palm trees blowing in the breeze. I have yet to find any water that compares to the Caribbean yet though. Just so clear and unpoluted. You can actually see quite a distance down under. [eeyore39]
I have only been to one Hawaiian Island because it was so pricey there. I would love to go to Bermuda. I have only been to one of the Caribbean Islands: St Lucia. It would be excellent if I could see all of the Caribbean Islands. I especially would like to go Grenada and Tobago. I know exactly what you mean about the crystal clear water in the Caribbean Sea. I adore snorkeling. I loved it in the South Pacific Ocean because islands like those in Samoa are like paradise. [maximax8]
Yea i like it. But i never got any chance to go any island yet. I have friends who lived in island. [shahanas]
I hope that you will get to go to an island one day. I must be special to live on a small island I think. [maximax8]
I love islands! just looking at pictures of them is so relaxing. It makes me want to just lay back and just think about how nice it would be to be on one haha. Infact, just about all of my desktop backgrounds are island backgrounds. I use digitalblasphemy.com for backgrounds. The guy who owns that site makes amazing backgrounds, and a pretty good amount of them are islands or have the ocean in them. [quidproquo]
I have visited to Hainan Island of China,my motherland. Hainan Island looks like a snow pear from the plane, reclines above the South China Sea. Nearly all tropical crop, like the rubber, the coffee, the cocoa, the coconut tree, the betel nut, the pepper and so on in the ground of Hainan Island. On the area of sea nearby, you can see the fish cybotaxis, the lobster, the shrimp and so on.It Suits travel throughout the year. Welcome to visite Hainan Island, everyone here. [zandy985186]
Well, I am lucky enough to be living in an archipelago (a group of islands). The Philippines consists of more than 7,000 islands so just imagine how beautiful it is. Every summer, I see to it that I visit one island that I've never been to before. It feels great to be be able to explore my own country. [theredquill]

Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. Maartin, St. Kitts, Madira, Antigua, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Trinidad, Tobago, Barbados, Cozumel, Pointe-a-Piedre, the Hawai'ian islands (Hawai'i, Maui, O'ahu, Lanai, Kaua'i, and one other I can't think of right now)... I am sure there are others but I can't think of them right now. I love the islands... the wife and I frequent the Bahamas a lot not because of the ambiance or the people GOD NO, but just to get away and it is a great way to do it for a very small price. Great Post. Thanks happy Zelo happy [zeloguy]

You have been to some wonderful, exotic places, maximax. From memory, the only islands I have been to are Bali, Singapore and Norfolk Island. The one on top of my wishlist is Borneo, although the Caribbean and Hawaii would be amazing too and I've always been fascinated by Alcatraz. [Piscesmoon]
If you love islands, then you should come and visit my country which has over 7 thousand islands and lots of beautiful beaches with white sands. I am sure you will enjoy it here. Happy island hopping. [sweetie1026]
I do love lovely pictures of islands too and in particular the islands of the Maldives look stunning - one day I will visit them! There is a great book called '100 islands to visit before you die' made by the BBC which I would like to get hold of. [frankiecesca]
I love sun, sandy beaches and all islands. I don't care much what island as long as weather is good and I fave good time. I have been on most of Caribbean Islands and I like them all. You just gave me great idea about Islands. I will make this year calendar with my Island photography. HUGS [polachicago]
Hello my friend. I also like islands, we have here in the Philippines the famous and stunning Boracay Islands and Camiguin. Both has pure white sand with clear blue water. I suggest you visit them when you happen to come to Philippines in the future. [longbangod]
Islands are lovely indeed. They give you a sense of one on one with the surroundings. You can also feel the horizon looming large and clear, right in front of your eyes; a perfect place to visualize a miniature globe giving you a right perspective of the direction and context. [prashantatrohini18]
Islands are ok, if you seen one sandy beach you have seem em all. I prefer the bright lights of the city... Chicago, Detroit, New York etc... [Chocobear]

I visit her many island but one island i love most to visit the saranggani island a wonderful place and their is a many great things. wow i can't imagine this is found in the Philippines. [audrelintamayo]
I lived in Samoa for 6 years and have also been to the Cook Islands namely Rarotonga and Atiu and twice to Hawaii - my best friend lives there. I love the Islands and still miss living there. You don't need much to live on and you make do with what you have. The most exciting parts were when we spent the weekends at a beach resort - what a life! [maddysmommy]
Ya, I like Hawaii and had fun. [eshwarik]
You are certainly an ' island lover '. You have been to at least 7 of them. That is certainly great. Although I like to visit picturesque islands, I haven't the opportunity to visit many.Apart from my country, I visited ' Bocas del Toro ' in PANAMA.This is a fancy island where you have to access it by a boat.It sits by itself in the PACIFIC OCEAN. What a beautiful sight it is at night to see the surroundings with its glistering lights and the contours of the city. Keep up the excitement. It is a way to spent your time.I am looking forward to do some traveling in the near future and also to take some photos of nature's scenic surroundings. [WallyB123]
I enjoyed visiting the Hawaiian islands. I don't have the love for islands that you have, but I think you described your feels beautifully. [6precious102]
I'm like you and like photos of islands myself...makes me just drift away sometimes, especially when we're having 10 to 15 degrees below zero where I'm at right now! I've not gotten to visit any famous islands as of yet but it is on my list of things to do! happy [sagesunicorn]
