Do You Like To Beaches Or Cities More

I love to go to tropical islands and palm fringed beaches. I enjoy some adventure like seeing wildlife and going on walks. In the Cook Islands I spent some time on the beach, cycled a bike and climbed a mountain. My toddler son is unable to walk. I now have a baby daughter as well. We travel to cities because that sort of location is more accessible than beaches. I have taken my son to Lisbon in Portugal, Vilnius in Lithuania, Riga in Latvia, Tallinn in Estonia and Cape Town in Africa. I adore beaches and I like cities. Do you like beaches or cities more? Are you adventurous when to travel? Which beach or city would you like to go to?

Personally I would much rather be on a beach on some tropical Island, than being in the city. I love the warmth and where I come from, there isn't very much of a warm season. I love to travel and if I can't get to the beach, my husband, our daughters and I, love to go camping a lot. This year we are planning on going a lot more cause we have all had enough of the city this winter. [CRIVAS]

I really like both. I like the beaches more for the scenery and swimming than just relaxing. Just a beach and nothing else I would find boring after a few days. Cities are exciting too. Staying in a quiet spot by the sea with a city nearby is ideal. The best beach I've ever been to was on Penang, an island off Georgetown, Malaysia. [jakill]

I do prefer the beach to cities. Perhaps it is because I grow up in a city and seldom get the chance to go to the beach. When I was small, my parents never allow because they fear for our safety. It is only when I have the chance, I would opt for the beach. [whyaskq]

I was born and raised in a city, so beaches are more appealing. In fact I wish I could live on a beach. I love the smell of sun baked sand and ocean mist. Whether its Cape Cod or the Caribbean, I love the beach. [glambank]

That depends on the beach or the city :-) I love going hiking, taking pictures and seeing nature and wildlife, all of which you can do on a beach. I'm not very fond of sleeping all day in the sun so going somewhere to hang out on a beach and get brown (well, slightly pinkish at least) isn't really my thing. On the other hand I'm not very interested in architecture just for the sake of architecture, or shopping, so when I go to cities I'll normally end up walking in parks or zoos or taking a trip out to some nature reserve close by. *looks out window* On this trip I've ended up with some friends in the middle of the forest in Finland, so this is neither beach nor city. Although there's a very frozen bay just around the corner. I was here in the summer some years ago, we spent a great day out on the cliffs by the bay. No beach with sand or stuff, but lots of nice butterflies and red cliffs against blue water. [Torunn]

As far as I am concenred, I think I prefer to go to the beaches ,where are full fredom and enjoy the sunlight so much. I think on the beaches , I can experience the smell from the sand, and enjoy the soft thing just like in my blood. I enjoy the life on the beaches so much. [monkeylong]

if talking about places to live or visit i would like the cities more than a beaches . i we can enjoy a lot and their is more of a fun things and enteretainment in the cities . but if i am on a travel and wan to go to a adventurous place i will go the beach . but i have no problem in our city we have both beach and city lol. but i like the city more than the beach . . . [dilipmiester]

#1 would be somewhere tropical where I can snorkel, but I like traveling to cities with historical sites, mountains, etc. etc. [dawnald]

Hi maximax, I do like to visit some historical cities in Europe, middle east and even in the far east....For a quite and restful holiday I prefer to go to one place that has a beach or a mountain side resort where one can get lost...But Big cities in different countries too have a charm of their own.I would like to combine both - may be visit a large city and then go to a place like the bahamas for a real holiday lol... [kiran8]

I like beaches, but I usually feel more attracted to cities, because I am interested in art, culture, architechture and things like that. I love exploring a new city and I love visiting the different sights and famous places. I also like museums and art galleries very much. I think it is very interesting to learn something about the history of the place that I visit and I also love to visit the local galleries. Sometimes I find new inspiration for my own paintings. I look forward to visit many European cities this year. [Porcospino]

When I travel, I do like to check out the cities, just to get a feel for the place and it's history, but I do prefer to see the area's natural wonders more. So I guess I do like to see the beaches, not necessarily to swim in them all the time, but just to check out the coastline and get a general feel for the layout of the landscape. There are so many amazing beaches here close to me that are great to swim at for at least six months of the year, that I do not really need to travel to see a great beach, although I would like to visit the Whitsunday Islands in Northern Queensland as the beaches are amazing and you can swim in winter as it is tropical. You can also harvest coconuts from the beaches! w00t [RawBill1]

I love beaches more than city, even though in the tourist areas, beaches can be just as crowded. A beach to me is more relaxing than being stuck in traffic on the way to the theater or other city entertainment. Since I am more of an outside and nature loving girl, I would love to just lay out in the sun all day, while watchign the waves roll in. I would also love to learn how to surf and go scuba diving. I have been to Oahu, Hawaii, for about 2 weeks once, and everday I went to the beach. The beach there is even more beautiful at night with the moonlight highlighting the waves rlling ashore, not to mention romantic lovers walking hand in hand. I just love the sights and smells of beaches more than the smells and sights of over-populated and over-polluted cities I guess. If I had more money right now, I would definitely go back to Hawaii, but this time around I would try another island. [towongfoo27]

I like to visit the cities but I wouldn't care to live in them. I'm a country girl, myself. When it comes down to whether I prefer the beach or the city, I would prefer the beach. Like you, I prefer to be more adventuresome. I like to go swimming in the ocean, walk on the beach, and lay out in the sun somehappy. I've been to several beaches in my life but I would love to go back to Waikiki Beachcheeringniceday. Kathy. [cyrus123]

I can't afford to travel. So I'm stuck where I live. But, I have a little bit of both worlds. I live near enough to a beach if I wanted to visit, but I also live in a city-like environment as well. So I have the both of both worlds, too bad its not warm. We had a bad winter this year. It still has yet to end. [kaylachan]

I enjoy both. I actually live in a rather mountainous region and as much as I enjoy being able to go out and 4-wheel and hike here, I enjoy taking week long vacations to both the beach and the city. My favorite city by far is New York City and if I didn't want to have children someday, I would move there tomorrow. My favorite beach is South Beach in Florida. I would love to go to Las Vegas one day and I'd also love to one day be able to stick my toes in the Pacific Ocean as well. [rushelle0927]

Well both things doesn't have to be opposite, I was born and raised in Havana City, the capital of Cuba, this is a very big city, which also have beautiful beaches also, I grew up going to the beach everyday, and there is a lot of places in the world like that. So in my opinion I prefer both, now I live in New York, which have very nice beaches very close by, obviously, the beaches here can't compare with the ones in the Caribbean region, but in my opinion it is like have the best of both worlds. Hi Max, Half of my life was spent in a small town where beautiful beaches are almost everywhere. I like it there and I still love going there now. But my family lives in the city now, and while I didn't like it at first, through time I've come to appreciate the kind of life it offers. So whenever I want to unwind and get away from the fast life in the city, I retreat to my hometown where it's closer to nature and it's more peaceful and laid back. [doryvien]

I really like both,in the beaches i can enjoy the sunshine and warmth, but in the city i can find a good job, keep a falitile life [alanda]

i love going to beaches, i enjoy walking on the sand, watching the sunrise and sunset, playing with the water, its more fun than going around the cities. [gyn0007]

i don't like beachers and cartoons but i like music and reading and write books because books are give a light in my life. [deepmala10]

I lived in the city for all my life up until 12 months ago, when we moved to a country village near the coast. The beach is about 1 mile away from where we live. I love walking along the coast, but not I am not into sitting around on beaches in the summer. I occasionally go to meet some of my friends in the city and enjoy that very much too, but would not like to move back there. So I guess it is 50/50. The city is a great place to visit, but not to live. The beaches around here are great to walk on, but not every day. But I think the beaches win when it comes to travelling on vacation. happy_Derek [derek_a]

I like beaches bcoz they r less noisy than cities. Yaah, i m adventurers and already travel more than seven countries. Now i have a great desire to visit the beaches of phillipines and maurituts. [shibham]

hi! I definitely like the beaches more and I actually have never liked the cities, because the life there is very loud and depressed. Well, i have also traveled to many cities for a vacation, but only for a day or two, and on the beaches i have spent much more time than just a day or two. Yes, i am adventurous when I am travel and I really like to visit the Borokai beach in the Philippines! [phoenix8606]

For a long time now, I preferred traveling to cities and not beaches. I enjoy going around and checking out malls and restaurants and basically exploring the city I travel to. Last weekend though, I went on an island vacation with friends, and I realized that it was really nice going to the beach too! There are a lot of fun stuff to do like parasailing and reef-walking. I must admit though, that I still am not a sand and sea person, but did like the change of scenery, and actually found myself missing it when I got home. Still my favorite part of the beach vacation was walking along the beachfront strip where there are lots and lots of restaurants and places to shop, so I still got a bit of city vibe from it. [mymelodake]

I was born and brought up near a beach. All my friends loved to come to my home as that included one long trip to the beach. I like beaches, and the fresh fishes too. Now I live in a city and there is not much I like here. I myself do not know how I am staying here...I would have relocated had I not had this two beautiful parks and a plant nursery near my home. [malpoa]

Beaches are my favorites to go and having an adventure. I love to swim in the very cold water and breath its fresh air. When I am in the beach all of my burdens was gone due to the warm and cold breeze of the air. And its water that invites us to swim and surf. So with the white sand of the beach, very nice to walk on barefoot and it can helps our pains in the bones. [geniustiger]

I love them both, and mountains, and the desert and rivers and... I like a lot of variety -- camping, whitewater rafting, swimming, touring museums and monuments... I can't say I have a favorite beach or city. How do you choose between NYC, Seattle, Chicago, Denver, San Diego, San Francisco, Miami, etc.? They're all fun and have their own "uniqueness/style". Some of my favorite beaches are not warm and tropical; e.g., those in Washington, Oregon and Maine. But all the driftwood, rocks, etc. make them special. [hofferp]

I love Cities of course. I love glamor but I'm not glamor people. I love modern city. I love green city. and I love city and night... full of lights. I really want to visit Las Vegas someday with my family. [andryan7legends]

I love both, but I prefer beach more... Whenever we are in the beach, I just can't explain why my heart feels at ease and refreshed. Specially when the sun set, its just an amazing feeling inside. [arakawaii]

I live and works in the not so crowded city of KL. I love the city because of it's unique architecture.I love to to other cities as well.Probably Rome and Barcelona. From the architecture we can understand the civilazation and human history. I also love the beaches. But nowadays we facing a lot of enviromental issue around the globe..:( Thats why i would like to try scuba diving. I heard about one amazing place in Sabah.I can imagine myself deep down the sea watching the magic of underwater creation..Cant wait to have my first scuba trip this year! [farizwheels]

Welcome eventful visitor.I happily share your likeness. Its hard to say which I like more.Different cities have different beaches which equates to the scenic beauty of the beaches and the dazzleing effects of the waters are enough to capture one's imagination. That is good for the toddlers also, and I am sure this experience will certainly serve as an antidote to your son who wants to walk.Meetings strange folks in these cities also add fun and excitement to the trip. Last, but not least , a little ' pocket camera 'will also tell a story that you can always share with your friends [WallyB123]

I like beaches and cites just like you I can't really pick because i grew up around both. Some times I am adventurous when I travel. [chicago207]

I can't really chose I am like i like both. Also it's because I grew up around both. I sometimes am adventurous when I travel. [chicago207]

Gee maximax, you sure do get around....lucky you. Cities are a bit wasted on me as I hate the rush, rush, rush, all the tall buildings shutting out the sky and the crowds of people who mean nothing to each other. I find the cost of even spending a day in a city totally over the top. This includes fares, a movie, lunch and a little bit of shopping or sightseeing. A holiday would be ok because you could visit parks, museums and places of interest but it would still be very expensive. A day at the beach can be just awful..trying to get there with a lot of traffic can be hard, the sand gets in everything, the beach can be crowded and the food expensive. The facilities can be horrible: dirty and no privacy and a long way from the beach. Taking your own food and drink can be a pain. Salty water drying in your hair and on your skin feels horrid and being in the sun brings the risk of melanoma. Give me a holiday on an island beach with a fully serviced "hut" and a freshwater spa and I would be in heaven. Or dreaming....lol. [MsTickle]

Great question! I like both. However I am a true nature lover at heart. I love the beaches that are secluded with forests and rivers. I find them very peaceful. Its way more relaxing. Cities take more time to get used to. Especially when you go to a city in which they do not speak your native tongue. [Monkeyrose]

I like the beaches more! The sound of the waves and the wind. Feeling the wind and the sun. Looking at the trees and the sea. But there is no place like the city where everything is right there. [adoremay]
