One of the things I love doing is traveling. If I have time and extra money, I go places. It doesn't matter how long or how short the trip is. It doesn't matter if I stay there for a long while or a short while. I love going places and I love meeting new people. I love learning more about different cultures.
In most of my travels, I always have traveled light. That is because I wanted to have more space in my luggage for the stuffs I will be buying for myself and for the people back home.
How about you? Do you travel light?

I do too. I think it is always a pain to have to drag a lot of stuff around you. All I usually take are a backpack, and one smaller bag that I stow on the plane. Especially if I am going abroad. When I do that I'll be moving around a lot, and who wants to drag 100 pounds of things with you? [TheHawkBat]
I'm terrible! I feel like I take everything I own! The few times I have packed light, I regretted it. I always end up wishing I had brought this shirt, or that pair of pants.... I just like having many options. [casinocat]
You sound like you pack like my daughter lol, she always takes a lot of stuff, she wants options lol. [palonghorn]
I travel a lot too on business trips. Takes me to countries in different parts of the world. Some of the flights are very long. So, I do travel light when on those long journeys. Most of my luggage were business papers and my laptop. Enjoy your trips ! [greenline]
I don't tend to travel light because lately when I travel it's for extended periods of time. In the past year I have made a number of round trips between Toronto Ontario and Phoenix Arizona, lasting anywhere from two weeks, to five months. When I am on a long trip I like to make sure that I have packed everything that I think I will need. It would be different if i was just going for a weekend, or something. [danishcanadian]
like you, i also love to travel.. unfortunately, i was only able to travel in different places in my country.. i would love to travel somewhere further.. And since traveling means to be away from home, i want to make sure that i have everything i need with me.. I do travel light. I just bring those things i really need and leaves those necessary ones behind.. It's easier to travel light because i don't need to carry all those heavy bags which i think will only spoil my mood for traveling.. also, having light bags while going on a trip will help me to get more things into my bag when coming home like souvenirs and other stuffs which i think is the best part when traveling. [darlene06]
Hi dolc_vita78, I have tried to travel light and last time I traveled I brought lots clothes that I didn't need so I have learnt my lessons now. Tamara [tamarafireheart]
Hi dolce_vita! haha..That is my big problem. I never knew how to travel light. My hubby is always stressed out when he sees that I will have several pair of shoes in my luggage. haha..I am trying my best to change my ways. haha..Because most of the time, I ended up paying for extra luggage in the airport and sometimes, I leave some old things behind just to squeeze in my new stuffs. Yikes! Take care always..God Bless! [faith210]
I do not get to travel a whole lot because I work seven days a week right now. We have alot of bills also and gas is outragious too. When I do get to travel, I pack alot of things because I like to have everything that I need and use from home. [stephcjh]
Good imagination. I do hope I can travel by light. Also,If i dig a very very deep hole in the earth so that I can go one side of the earth to the other side, it will be pretty cool. If I want to tavel from China to the United states. All I have to do is jump into the whole, according to free falling body, I will arrive to the united states in two hours. On the other hand, the fiction force must be avoided. If not, I will read the high speed at the earth's core. Then, my speed will be slower and slower. In addition, before I arrive the United states, my speed is 0. This will be pretty terrible. U know, I will fall back to the earth's core ... Finally, I will ever stay at the earth's core. [hiddenwing]
no i don't.heheherasp well, i want to learn how to travel light though. i always want to bring everything with me whenever i go travelling. i always have big bags and i have everything inside it. i bring as much shirt, as much shorts and shoes. i mean, i bring what i can bring, i just love it when i have everything packed and ready whenever i need them.rasp but carrying them is not easy though. LOL.. how can i travel light but have everything ready when i need them...?happy [austere]
It is a pain to drag a heavy luggage around. But unfortunately, I am not a light packer, I'm more of a "medium-packer" if there is such a thing. I don't bring as much as some people I know, but I can't travel as little as some light packers I know either, so I guess I'm medium? lol. Perfect example, I went to Boracay with a trolley (i know, i know, crazy), it wasn't full but a backpack or a duffel bag just seemed so small.. [inutme]
I never seem to get the hang of travelling light.lol Even if I'm just going to the province for a short vacation, like 2 or 3 days, I bring at least 3 overnight bags. The smallest one's alloted for my toiletries while the remaining two are reserved for clothes. I do that even if I know I'll be shopping around for souvenirs or what-have-yous. So normally, I always go home with an excess baggage.lol [crazyoverpurple]
Hello dolce_vita. I love to travel light as it makes the travel more enjoyable. While I travel, the most important thing for me is my digital camera because I love to take photos so that I can always remember where I have been and how it looks like. I do not bring much other stuff with me except the daily necessities. [williamjisir]
Oh dolce! I wish I did! I'm the type to take everthing but the kitchen sink! I never was any good at traveling light! I always take too much because I can never decide what to take with me. Even when I go to visit my Mom in Florida where I don't need to take much and I always come home with alot more I take way too much. I usually end up with an extra bag to take home! I'll never learn. I think I do it because I don't know what I want to take and I'm never sure what the weather will be like. I don't travel very much which is another thing. Maybe if I was like you I'd be better able to pack lightly. Another thing is that I'm used to changing clothes twice a day and I don't wear the same clothes more than once. I'm sounding extremely obsessive compulsive as I'm writting this, aren't I??? [Opal26]
I would love to travel light. But with a baby in tow, it's just so difficult. For short trips, we try to put everything into 1 haversack and 1 hand luggage. I think that is already more than we can handle. When we travel by coaches, it is more pertinent to travel light, because we need to get up and down the coach a lot. As for buying stuffs and souvenirs, I try to buy small pieces which does not take up too much space. [SydneyHazelton]
Than you for choosing my post as best response! Do accept my friend request.. [SydneyHazelton]
No, I am not a light traveller, when I go away everything I own near enough ends up in the suitcase! I am really not clever when it comes to packing a suitcase, although part of this boils down to the weather. We always holiday in UK and the weather is really unpredictable so I have to take a wide variety of clothes to cover for all occasions. [gemini_rose]
I don't travel as lightly as I wish I did. I take clothes, toiletries, my snorkeling equipment if I am going to a tropical beach, my camera and some snacks. My toddler son requires baby soya drink powder, his bottles, a travel kettle, catheters, his clothes and his light weight travel cot. For our last trip I was allowed 15kg luggage for both of us. Packing that lightly was a challenge. I love to travel to as many different countries as possible to meet the local people, find out about the culture and watch the native wildlife. Typically I fly somewhere then travel about on local trains, buses and ferries. We stay in about five or more different places. For that reason I like to travel reasonably lightly. I leave room for souvenirs like a costume doll for my collection. [maximax8]
yes if I travel at all I travel light, even when we make that journey by car so there is not too much to carry around. I cant understand people who will drag half of their household with them when they are away. [book1962]
Hi dolce, I always do! LOL!I hate bringing so much stuff and like you my purpose also is to have some space in my luggage for things that I will buy for my family! I also love traveling but I can't do it alone..LOL! I always love to be with somebody..I have a friend who will visit new places alone and she enjoys it! happyhappyhappy [checapricorn]
Yes. Me and my family always leave one suitcase light just incase we doe extra shopping in the place we are going. Sometimes, when we packextra heavy, it is cause we are taking gifts for the family abroad and then the suitcase empties out there... So everytime there is always some suitcase more or less emtpy. [Crazysah]
I'm really like you! Whenever I visit a different country, my first priority is to eat lots of good food. Then go shopping. SO I try as much as possible to pack light so that I can have room for all the new things I would buy. I'd hate to have to pay for the excess weight the airline charges. Not only is it exorbitant, it's also avoidable if I plan well. [mimico]
I travel light. I can't stand to have a lot of stuff to carry around with me and to worry about. I prefer to only carry a smallish backpack with whatever I need in it and I will leave it in the room as much as I can so as not to be bothered by it. Once, I only took what I was wearing and I bought new clothes while I was away then mailed what I had bought back to me. I just can't stand to carry anything when I travel. [Philestine]
wubI too love travelling, especially in trains. I travel light as it as I hate carrying a heavy bag around places. Travelling light also gives us an option to go wherever we want without giving much thought as to how to travel. [pkraj111]
It depends. If I travel with my family then naturally I do not travel light. But on the other hand if I travel alone then I travel light. Yes, as you have pointed out it is a good idea to keep spaces in the boxes we carry for ourselves! [cudamani]
I always travel heavy! I can't go without "extras" like my Make-Up kit, blow dryer, extra clothes, around 3 pairs of shoes (that's for 3-5 days) and sleeping clothes! The funny thing is sometimes, I have to bring my slippers too! It is inconvenient but I feel comfortable with it when I know I haven't forgotten anything. If I travel back home, I basically don't bring a lot because I have it at home. I LOVE to travel. [farthestpoint]
That was one of the first questions my s/o asked me, if I could travel without all the 'extras'..... half of our trips have been made on the Harley. He was happy to find that I could travel light. Give me the basics in makeup, foundation, mascara, powder, hairbrush and ponytail, I'm good to go. [palonghorn]
I normally travel light, of course a week or two before traveling I make a packing list, and figure out what clothes I will need to take, I also will take a couple of tops to go with a pair of jeans. It also depends on where I am going. I am going to a scrapbook retreat, and you will think I'm moving out when I pack for that lol. I take my printer, laptop, Scrapbooking supplies, plus my clothes. The only thing I hate trying to pack for is when you travel and not sure what clothes you might need depending on weather. I went to Texas in the fall, and sometimes it's 90 degrees, other times it can be in the 60's, and I had to throw in a jacket, for the trip back home, since I live in the northeast. I like it when we travel on the Harley, no choice but to pack light, and I have an extra tote bag that fits in, for the extras I buy while I'm gone. [palonghorn]
I usually way over-pack. I pack a pair of shoes in every color, and don't forget about sandals! I also usually take my own pillow and my favorite blanket. The one time I packed just enough for two weeks I ended up staying for 4 months! That was a little rough. If we drive I still pack everything I think I might need. Even if I never use it. With all the new restrictions on plane travel, I am forced to try and pack lighter. I don't want to have to pay all the extra fees for heavy or additional bags. [moneyandgc]
I tend to take what I need. I take one extra outfit, but that's it. I am far more likely to forget something than to take too much. [NoReplyatAll]
Many times, yes I do travel light. I will purchase what I need if I want something later when I get to where I'm going. I do take some of my favorite things to wear, but apart from that I take as little as I can. [moondancer]
hi, dolce. i travel light too, that's only because my partner travels heavy, mine is there, haha. but i do take lots of my cosmetics with me when traveling. [gabbana]
