Gas Prices In Your Area

I was talking to my sister yesterday afternoon, and we got to talking about gas prices. I was shocked to hear how "cheap" (relatively speaking) gas prices were in her area! The lowest I've found gas in Seattle (near our apartment, at least) is $4.35. She's in Kansas City, and it's only $3.85 there. That's 50 cents difference, per gallon! What are the gas prices like in your area?

responses and comments:

South central Florida is $4.06 per gallon in most places. [spalladino]

She's in Kansas City, and it's only $3.85 there In Missouri? If so then thats why..I was JUST readingn an article about this the other day..Theres a specific reason they have it so cheap but I forgot what it is LOL....Hold on and let me get the link... http://www.slate.com/id/2193222/?y=1 I know the cheapest near us here in Western New York is something like $4.19 [Ravenladyj]
Yeah, Kansas City, Missouri. (I always forget that there's one in Kansas, too. My sister says it's not much of a town. :) ) [scarywhitegirl]

I haven't checked for today, but I think it's well past $4.60. It's been going up around 20 cents per day, but I don't think it went up all that much today. I know that in California, we have a lot of Taxes on gasoline compared to other places like what was mentioned in that article above about Missouri. I've cut back quite a bit on driving and am not really spending all that much more on gas that I did before, I'm just driving a lot less. [desertdarlene]
I think it might have slowed down. I heard on the news that it has only gone up 1 cent in the last few days. [desertdarlene]

The lowest I've seen it in the past couple days is $4.12.. most places are $4.19. The highest I've seen is $4.29. That is in Central, NY. It's getting sad. A month ago it cost me $70 to fill my tank. Now it is more like $100. I think we are now spending more on gas than we are on groceries. When has that ever happened? [katsmeow1213]
I have a mini van. What's sad is I just bought the thing a month ago, but now I can't afford to drive it. [katsmeow1213]

They are hovering around 4.00 a gallon here. Some places are alittle more some alittle less. It is really sad to pay these high prices. i live in a rural area so there are no real transportation options. You pay the price or you dont go anywhere. [snowy22315]

I wish gas prices here was that cheap, lol.I live in The Bahamas and it is just ridiculous the price we pay here.It is now $6.08 here and it is killing me.My car is sort of old and to fill it takes like almost a hundred dollars.I dont know how much more I will even be able to use it. [neelygal]
WOW! I think that's the highest price I've heard! [scarywhitegirl]

The gas prices here are around 3.85 a gallon. It is getting bad, but I know it is a lot higher in other places. I don't understand why we don't drill oil here in our own country. I've heard we have refineries in Utah, Wyoming and Alaska and some other places as well. Why use oil from other countries? [Springlady]

I think our lowest (for regular) is $3.94 or something like that. I get my gas at BJ's which is a wholesale place like Sam's or Costco. The price for regular on Friday was $3.92 but, it may have gone up since then. I don't pass that station on a daily basis. So, I am only going on Friday's price there and the Chevron that I pass on my way to work. Anyway, gas is out of hand. To say the least! [cortjo73]

in the UK we are looking at apx $2.50 per LITRE!!!!!!, am not sure how many US gallons are in a litre but even so, its getting stupid money all over aain, no wonder the fuel protests are starting again [mira666]
OMG! we have the same price with you!! i'm in indonesia and recently the price went up to Rp 10.000, around 1 dolar, per litre. That means it's 4dolar a gallon?? No wonder they protest the fuel rise... [goldflower]

I live in central Indiana and gas here is $4.19 a gallon. That is ridiculous but I guess there is nothing we can do about it right now. I think that we need to protest it but what can we do really. [carolscash]
You all make me laugh! Seems all Americans are complaining about gas prices and you are all going to manage. Try living in the UK. It is now $10.30 a gallon!!!! How do you think we manage? [viet129]

Saturday when my husband got gas for the mower Monroe was $3.81/gallon. A couple days before in Des Moines it was $3.79. Ours may end up going up soon because our legislature wants to raise the gas tax, but so far the governor is saying no to that. From what I've heard Iowa's tax tax isn't all that high compared to other states. [Ruthep]
My ex-husband's family lived in Illinois, very near to both Iowa and Missouri. We always drove into Missouri when we needed gas, as it was the cheapest of the three states. Iowa, I think, was the 2nd cheapest though. [scarywhitegirl]

Hi, I live in Texas and the gas prices here right now are at 3.97 a Gallon and a loaf of bread is at 1.30 a loaf it is really outrageous,my husband is really thinking about getting himself a bike to get back and forth to work, and we just heard also that the gas prices are not stopping at where they are now they said that by the end of August it will be at 5.00 a Gallon it really is outrageous, everything is going crazy!. CG [cg1109]

If you are so shocked look at our price in Europe! We pay 2,4$ per LITER only if we are luky... and naturally we aren't :P We pay about 2,5$ per liter everytimes! It's a theft!! [alextoind]

It has been 3.99 here in WI for a week. WI I believe is in the top ten for highest state tax per gallon so that sure doesn't help. What do you think the government will do with all that extra money? I mean they get 15%, they obviously buget to get a certain amount but with prices climbing it means they will be taking in much more than they budget for having. If they just got a set number per gallon, like 20 cents, the prices wouldn't be so high and they still would make everything they budgeted for. But taking a percent means they make more as the price goes up. [mscott]

I'm actually feeling pretty lucky, since gas is about $3.89 here, never thought $3.89 would be considered a "good" price for gas! [theproperator]

I would be happy if gas was 4.35 per gallon. I'm in Ontario, Canada, and it works out to over 5.00 per gallon. [bonbon664]
And Ontario have it cheap compared to us here in Vancouver. Today, our prices hit $1.49 a litre, with no signs of it slowing down. Starting at the beginning of July, they're also adding on a 10% Carbon Tax to the prices, so we're looking at paying just unbelievable prices. [angelwhispers30]

The cheapest I've seen is probably around $4.15 per gallon, & that was for actual members. I believe that most of the gas places in my area have gone above $4.25. I had also seen in the news about truckers in Spain, Portugal, & France being on strike because of the high fuel prices, & it did get deadly. I'm surprised that hasn't happened in the United States yet. [KrazyKlingon]

The last time I was at the store the price was $3.99 I think but it could have went up by now. This morning on the news, last year this time gas was $2.35 a gallon and now it up to $4.08 a gallon. In some places higher than that, and it will not be going down anytime soon. I think it will go up to $5 or $6 a gallon before it stop and that just might be by the end of the year. Now if it goes over $6 a gallon something is really wrong. Have a good one. [twallace]

I live on Long Island NY and the gas prices here vary from $4.10 to $4.20. [Fletcher1991]

Memphis TN, as of when i came home from work, was 3.92, who knows what it will be in the morning. [darkjedi]

as i have heard the news the gas price in my place as of now is ranging from $1.30 up to as high as $2 per liter. i don't know if its more expensive than the gas in your place. but high price of gas in our country is a major problem here right now. all of the news was about it. before our gas price costs only about 50 cents to 80 cents i guess. im not really so sure about this coz i am not a driver myself too. but as the fare goes higher i begin to be involved too. [angel_kaycee]

Indonesia: IDR 6000/litre for RON 88 = US$ 2.39/gal IDR 9800/litre for RON 92 (Shell Super)= US$ 3.90/gal IDR 10150/litre for RON 95 (Shell Super Extra) = US$ 4.04/gal [ndoggodhog]
Thanks for working out the conversions! Looks like it's mostly cheaper than in the U.S., but not by a lot in some cases! [scarywhitegirl]

I'm in PA and it's anywhere from $4.02 to $4.07 depending on where you are getting it. I know that California has always been more than other places because of the supply and demand factor, maybe that's the same thing in Seattle. I walk almost everywhere these days so I don't fill up nearly as much as I used to. [freak369]

It is $4.51 regular unleaded in California and $4.99 for diesel. Ouch!! We are starting to walk more and drive less. [momz2gd]

Ours is sold per liter. Php 50.90 per liter roughly more than $1.14937. Every week these prices increases up to Php 1.50.. [lilyoungfella]

Gas prices here in Vancouver are at an all time high of $1.49 a LITRE! They show no signs of slowing down any as of yet, and starting at the beginning of next month, they're adding a 10% carbon tax onto gas prices, so our prices are going to be just appalling. We're currently paying the highest prices in North America for gas, and we're getting gouged. My partner and I are looking for somewhere to live closer to where he works, and then he's going to get a Mountain Bike so he can bike to and from work each day. That will save us over $200 a MONTH in gas! [angelwhispers30]

$3.95 today in Layton, Utah [singlewahm]

the gas price in my area fluctuates quite a lot everyday... at the moment, it is about $1.60 a litre... i will say that it is really really expensive here at the moment as it used to be $1.25 a litre maximum about 4 years ago when i just first come here... take care and have a nice day... [lingli_78]

IN malaysia, RM2.70 per litre (about $0.90 per litre ) [curious888]
It's US$ 3.48/gal [ndoggodhog]

I have been telling my friends in USA and other places relax, I know the gas price seems high to them, but at least they do not have to pay $8, yes that is correct, eight dollars a gallon as it is here in Bermuda. In Italy is is like $5 or $6 USD per gallon. [gtdonna]

I'm in the northeast US and for some reason, it hasn't broken the $4 mark yet in my immediate area. I suppose when it does, it will jump way above it all at once. Unless it changed since Saturday, one town near here was at $3.99 and another town at $3.89. We actually got ours for $3.69 but that was a 20 cent a gallon discount special because we shopped at a certain store. [katiedoubleu]

I live in NJ, and gas has not quite hit $4 in my area, though there are parts of the state where it has. Lately the lowest price has been about $3.89, if you pay cash at a low-price chain. I noticed one station actually lowered their price last night, so I am hoping that's a good sign. [fluffysue]

The headline in one of our papers here in the UK showed one guy charging a whopping £1.99 a litre for fuel. He said he was not being a profiteer, just trying to keep motorists supplied with gas. What a creep !!! [recycledgoth]

I live in Canada so our gas is sold per litre. I am not sure what the exact conversion is to gallons but I think it is around 3 litres per gallon. I live in Calgary and the price here at most pumpts is $1.33 a litre so if I am right and you multiply that by 3 it works out to $3.99 a gallon. But since gas is a little cheaper in a city called STrathmore and it is only half an hour from Calgary, and I work in Strathmore, I get my gas there. It is around $1.29 a litre there which is about $3.87 a gallon. So by the looks of it, we are still a little bit cheaper than you, and we should be, since most of the oil in Canada comes from Alberta, which is where Calgary is, in Alberta. [chrislotz]

Gas is getting close to $4.00 here in South Jersey! [CliffShep]

A couple of weeks ago we took a trip from ND down through SD, IA and MO and probably averaged $3.89 a gallon. We did find some stations that were giving a five cent per gallon discount if you paid cash. Locally (SE North Dakota) it just went over $4 this week. [newtondak]

I think they are around 3.99 for the regular gas. [Bd200789]

Philippines $6.08/gallon.... But since the gas price increases per week (around $0.11/gallon) it would continue to rise til the price of oil becomes stable. [lorelie78n]

Our gas is at about $4.09 right now. [kellys3ps]

I do not drive, scary, but from what I hear on the news and other sources the average price of gas in my area is a bit under $4.00. Your discussion reminded me of something I heard on a radio talk show about a year ago: They will continue to raise the prices and periodically drop them a bit in order to make everyone think they are getting a bargain. That seems to sum it up.rolleyes [worldwise1]

Well my friend let me give a price list any where in the world including USA. Las vegas NV $4.25 San Diego $4.95 Now else where in the world. Vinozealla 0.80 Cents Bierut Lebanon 0.60 Cents Kuwait 0.45 Cents Cool isn't ??? [coolguy01]
I've seen that site, its crazy! [Katesmama]

Isn't that just crazy, when $3.85 sounds cheap... argh!!! We went to the coast this weekend, and saw it out there for about $4.25-$4.35 per gallon for regular. But I didn't pay much attention when we got back into town yesterday, so I have no idea how much it is here right now... about the same as the coast i'd imagine... But either way, if it's not less than $2.... It's crazy. Not that anyone is lucky enough for that anymore but I remember just 10 years ago paying 99cents a gallon. It's insane how much gas has gone up. It's a monopoly. One that someone has GOT to get control over. *sigh* [dancingmooney]
When I was in grad school, about 10 years ago, we stayed at my aunt's house for spring break. The morning we were leaving, my cousin came RUNNING into the kitchen to tell us that gas was 89 cents a gallon at the gas station by the highway. Those were the days. :) [scarywhitegirl]

The lowest gas in my area is $3.99. Some places near here are up to about $4.15. [slyvixen42]

Hi, scarywhitegirl. There are a couple of similar discussions about gas prices going on at myLot right now. In FL in the areas where I live/drive, the current price of gasoline is $3.95 to $3.99 per gallon. I guess that's not too bad. Usually, our prices are about the highest in the U.S., except for CA. Hope the gas prices drop for all of us very soon. PearlGrace [PearlGrace]

I was in Kansas City a month or so ago and it was way cheaper there! Here, there is one place downtown that is always cheapest, and the other day it was $3.89. The average around me is 3.99. Everytime I am in that area, I top off my tank! [Katesmama]

Im from NJ where we dont have to pump our own gas, and our prices are lower than most of the country despite what people say that pumping your own gas is cheaper. Our gas price is on average 3.89. But to be fair, as a state, New Jersey puts a very low state tax on gasoline, so that explains a lot of the difference. [raimond2]

Gas here in BC Canada is 1.49 per litre - which works out to about 6.60 per gallon. What's going to happen to our world when we're ALL paying twice that? [Buttercup11]

i think my brother said it was between $4.15/4.20. he's not thrilled about it anyway.it's a good thing his job has it's own car,or he'd be paying for that one too. [scarlet_woman]

I live in South Florida, but have been in NYC for the past 2 weeks. When I left, I don't think that the prices had hit $4 yet, but I'm sure it's way above that now! I'm not looking forward to getting back and having to buy gas again! lol [reshadar]

I know prices are varying all over the place, but right now in the county in which I live it Ranges between $3.95 and $4.00 a gallon in Florida. It seems that the closer you are to an actual port, the cheaper the gas is. The closer the port, the less travel is involved in delivering said gas. So unfortunately, the same gas that costs any of the coastal states about $4.00 a gallon is going to cost the non-coastal states at least 50 cents more a gallon if not more. Sad, but that's the way it works. [michelyn]

3.69 in springfield Missouri. [dangnabit67]
considering I live on minum wage. Gas is too high. [dangnabit67]

I realize this was 3 weeks ago, but the gas prices have gone from $3.79-$4.17 within the last month or so and right now they are around $3.99. What gets me is that on one corner there might be 23 cents difference across the street!! Usually the stations set their prices by each other. I know this since I have a sister and a niece who work at gas stations. Oh, I'm in Toledo, OH. [idowrite72]

There are four stations right close where we mainly buy our gas. My husband is a retiree from one of the oil companies and we always buy their gas although we have a card from one of the others. The gas is $3.899 for regular where we buy ours and the same at 2 others. Fuel Z is always a penny or two cheaper. The middle grade is $4.019 and the premium is $4.199, but at the other one where we have a card, they ran their premium up to $4.289! I could not believe it! [Barb42]

I've been informed that the prices you pay in America are still at least half what we pay here in Australia. Your prices look high, but that's because you pay by the gallon, which is about the equivelant of 4 litres, which is what we use here in Australia. We are paying upto $1-70 per litre, which multiplied by 4 is $6.80 per gallon. Sad but true. [newzealtralian]

I'm in San Antonio,TX. Gas price is averaging this week $3.88, last week $3.93. I also notice that there are less SUV's on the road and smaller economic cars on the road lately. There are still many pickups on the road because it's Texas. [yparson]

hi there, I live in India so our gas is sold per litre. I am not sure what the exact conversion is to gallons but I think it is around 3.8 litres per gallon. I live in delhi and the price here at most pumpts is $1.00 a litre so if I am right and you multiply that by 3.8 it works out to $3.8 a gallon. though the oil prices are highr in near by states. [purnima175]
