When we went to Varanasi (Kasi) from Shirdi, we 26 people, have just missed the train. It was few yards away and it went off. Then we had to board the next train. There was no seat to sit and no sleeper berth available and had to suffer a lot apart from shelling down extra rupees. Did you miss bus or train at any time? How did you manage?

Yes, it was a day i missed a bus and was late for school. It was around 5.45 AM. the bus arrives ate 6 AM but i went there at 6.02 AM. The hasty bus driver did not want to stop although he saw me running wildly for the bus at the bus stop. [Apples24]
hey,guy you must be careless for this situation ,i think it exist in most of area not in yours.wow. [owntuilp]
Well, I have missed the bus and train a few times in my life. The only thing left to do is to wait for another one after. Or, find another way to get to your destination quickly. Yes, sometimes the cost to get on another bus/train hurts but well, if you need to go somewhere, you need to. [rg0205]
I know. The cost for autorikshaw or taxi will be exhorbitant. But we will be careful next time. [Buchi_bulla]
Yes, I have missed the train on the way to work before because the train station is already full and the next train will come at a later time which will make me late for work. Since I really don't want to be late for work, I just hailed a taxi cab even if it costs me so much more so I can still go to work. [lealuvy2j]
Unnecessary expenditure which could have been used for some other useful cause. But what to do? Sometimes wastage is unavoidable. [Buchi_bulla]
i missed a train from taiyuan to shanghai last before last year?that's a snowing day and spring festival was coming ,and bullion of people wanted to get a ticket to go home at the station, this was very disaster for those people who wanted to be home before the holiday? i thought that i had enough time to get the train ,and i was late by the weather and a little traffic jam,so i had to buy an air ticket for my mistake?anyway i arrived shanghai eventually? [hobegao]
you are a smart guy?that's a tough work for rail arrangement, you know people are more than trains a,ll the time ,it's impossible to get more trains in a short time, and it happens every year before spring festival comes? the air ticket took me much money ,but it's faster ,it just took only two hours to arrive shanghai? [hobegao]
happyhi aunty, good moring, yeah, after my son was born i use go to my MIls sister's place, in that time suddenly we planned different place due to some emergency. so, we missed that train, from there we went to my MILs, sister's place, we have to go by general, that time we didn't get the birth, there is no seat also. me and my son( he is just 1yr. baby)sit nearby the toilet.. osad really i fed up that travelling. from that time i won't even travel without the conferming the birth....thanks for your topic, have a nice day. [neelimaravi]
Sorry, I took you to a bad memory. Sitting near the toilet that too with a small child, is horrible. [Buchi_bulla]
Hi dear! Once we were going to Vaisno Devi for pilgrimage and my mother-in-law and sister in law was also to accompany us. On that day there was a huge traffic jam. We somehow managed to reach the station just 15 minutes before the departure of the train, which was leave Delhi railway station for Jammu. However, when the train started, we were surprised to see that my mother in law and sister in law failed to arrive at the station, though we had the information that they were on their way to railway station. They apparently missed the train due to traffic jam. They did not lose their courage and boarded another train for Jammu and to our astonishment reached Jammu early in the morning, before out train could reach (they had boarded a super fast train, though they could not get berth, someone they manage to travel). I had to get the their tickets cancelled at Jammu station and I was later refunded less than half the amount. [dpk262006]
Yes, you are very right, I can still recall those tense moments. [dpk262006]
Hi aunty, Ella Unnaru, Till now i have not missed the bus or the train. I will be 15 to 30 minutes early to the venue. Once my aunty had missed the express train from bangalore to hubli she also waited for the next train and faced the problems like no slepper berth and no place to sit. This happened to her when she was suppose attend her niece marriage reception. [deepasubramani]
Chala bagunnanu. Baga chaduvuthunnava? Well it is a horrible feeling to miss a train. Apart from getting another transport, a feeling of disappointment willl prevail over us. [Buchi_bulla]
I missed a bus when I was traveling in Western Australia. Buses were just twice a week so therefore that was a shook for me. So the bus I was meant to be on went on Tuesday and I had to wait around until Saturday. It was quite boring for me because it was a peaceful little town in a rural area. I went walking in the woods and climbed a tree used as a fire lookout. I got on a train and there was a question of if it went to Prague or Vienna. I almost stayed on the train and luckily got off in time before I missed the train to Prague. So a near miss can be almost as bad as missing a train in the middle of the night. In a small train station in Bulgaria I had to wait for hours for the Istanbul to Bucharest train. It was many hours late. Coming back from Romania to Bulgaria my train was very late into Bucharest. It arrived with minutes to spare before my train to Bulgaria. I rushed to get a ticket and amazingly got the train. Again it was another near miss and only one departure a day. [maximax8]
Oh God! One departure a day! If you missed it then 24 hours you have to wait. You are lucky. Both the times you got the trains at the last moment. But I feel, even after boarding the train, for some time, you should have been in deep tension. It will take a while to control the fast heart beat. [Buchi_bulla]
I live in NYC, and during the mornings I sometimes have to wait for the 3rd train to come before I can go on, and it's always extremely crowded, only because the subway stop I take is where a lot of businessmen and women from Wall Street also watch the 4, so it's definitely a pain. But fortunately, our trains come about every 5 minutes, but sometimes that 5 minutes can be vital to me, but either way, there's not much I can do but wait for the next train since a bus would take even longer to come (about 15 minute wait for the next bus,) and driving here is impossible. But it's so frustrating to miss a bus or a train, especially when you're so close to catching it but it leaves without you!! [soybeans612]
Very true. When I was in Chennai city in South India, I was travelling in an electric train to my office. The crowd was so much that some times when the crowd is pushing us towards the entrance of the train, it will be a tension whether we will be able to make it into the train. At that peak hour, even five minutes is much more for us. [Buchi_bulla]
it is a horrible experience,i have faced two weeks ago.i missed a bus at that time i faced so many problems like lack of sleep, lack of food because incident happened at 11pm.after 2hours i travel in a auto and reaches to my small village. [vvsurendra]
Missing a bus at that time is too costly for us. Apart from tension, we have to face inconvenience for everything. [Buchi_bulla]
I have missed the bus before when I was in school. I had to call a family member so they could come and get me and take me to school so I would not miss a day of it. I did not live close enough to walk. [stephcjh]
Good thing. At least you could call your family member and go in time to school. [Buchi_bulla]
Well - I waited for the next one [cynthiann]
I also tried several times missed the bus, there is no other way but to wait, then I called to colleagues maybe lated for job time, only a few times, they will forgive me. [flywelcome]
Though they forgive for few occasions, we have to cut a sorry figure before them for no fault of us as we have started from our house in time. [Buchi_bulla]
My answer is yes! It was so bad to see the worker close the door before you for your miss the train for a little minutes. But I was fortunater than you as there are still seats. Miss a train is so bad,I just changed a new ticket and went back for a sleep waiting the train tomorrow. [xjwskymoon]
But one fruitful day is lost waiting in the station or going back. Our plans will be jeopardized. [Buchi_bulla]
Yes some two years back I have missed a train from Chennai to Coimbatore. It was booked to travel along with my friends. The train is about to start at 2:30 noon and I started from my home an hour earlier, hardly it will take some 20 minutes to reach the railway junction. But that day it was very bad, I was waiting for the metro train in my area for more than half-an-hour then it arrived and I reached in the railway junction exactly by 2:30 and I was just pushing myself fast towards the platform, when I reach the platform, train is moving slowly form other end of the platform. I was just frightened and standing alone in the platform. Then took a seat and thinking for a while, what to do next. Next train towards Coimbatore was at 4 evening. I planed, bought the ticket and gone to that platform as early as possible and placed myself at the top luggage carrier and slept all the way till I reach Coimbatore. Time had worked well that day... Simply one of the most remembered day of my life.... Great thanks for you "Buchi_bulla" I enjoyed all the way typing this discussion... [earndeep]
May be you had to travel comfortably sleeping well and that is why you missed the earlier train. Thanks for the interesting response. [Buchi_bulla]
I have missed a few buses during the times I had to take a bus. I would just stay at the busstop and wait for the next bus that would take me where I want to be. [happy6162]
That is true. But time is wasted, tension till you get another bus, all these are coupled with missing a bus. But cannot help it. [Buchi_bulla]
here in my country theres no problem of missing the bus. we can always look for another bus. we have a lot of kind of rides in my country. we have train, taxi, bus and jeepney's. so theres no problem for us. [carrillo_zeny]
You are lucky then. No unnecessary tension for you. [Buchi_bulla]
I did miss a train once. I was headed to the city to see the Nutcracker with my husband's mom, sisters, and aunt. I missed the train by mere seconds. The next train was not coming for an hour and a half so I drove there, it was aweful. Traffic was terrible, and when I got to the city I had to go to the bathroom so bad but there was no where to park and they were waiting for me at the train station and this was before the days of cell phones. I could not find a place to park any where around there. Finally it was almost time to go to the theater so I just drove to the theater and they were all there. They were all angry at me because they waited at the train station for the next train. So I was in pain because I had held it for about 2 hours, I was a nervous wreck and they were all angry at me and all but one gave me the cold shoulder all night. This was not a good experience. [ladym33]
My God! Horrible experience. Apart from missing the train and taking a drive in a terrible traffic, you had to face the wrath of people. The bathroom problem also joined with everything. I feel due to tension that need would have come. I do not think you would have enjoyed that day. [Buchi_bulla]
I actually missed a flight, a connecting one from Paris to Madrid. I blame this person I was traveling with. She acted like she knew everything about schedules and took her time freshening up while we waited for her. We ended up missing our flight and just had to wait for the next one (3 hrs I think). Good thing we weren't charged for that. [wahmivy]
Some people are indeed careless about others' inconveniences and urgency. Wasting 3 hours for no fault of yours with irritation till you boarded the next flight, is really painful. [Buchi_bulla]
I missed the bus to school a few times. My parents get really mad when that happens, because they have to drive home while they were on their way to work and send me to school. My parents are typically never home in the morning, so I have to make breakfast and everything. But this has taught be a lot of responsibility, because I won't get used to depending on them for things, we I am better prepared for the real world. [oXAquaXo]
Were you making your breakfast and other work at that tender age, yourself? Though you learnt responsibilities by way of this, still in that small age, apart from starting for school, it would have been a burden on your small shoulders. No wonder you missed the bus few times. [Buchi_bulla]
Yea, loads of times, theres nothing you can do except get the next one! [rjl1989]
This reminds me of one of the funniest bus rides that we've ever had! Just last April, we went to Cebu to file for the Nursing Licensure Exam. We were supposed to stay there only for 1 day, but we stayed up to 3 days due to the gruesome and botched up process of filing. We decided to ride the 3:00pm trip back to our hometown, and went to the terminal around 2:30pm. To our surprise, the bus had been full since 1pm, and only the standing room was left. And to think the trip took 8 hours because we had to ride the barge! So we had to wait for the next bus, which went out around 8pm. And got into a fight with a woman who got outraged why we had reserved seats. As my classmate said, "I'm sorry ma'am but we have been here since 2:30PM and got left by the 3PM bus. Any more violent reactions?" hahahha lol [aixshaonline]
Oh God! Waiting from 2.30pm to 8.00pm, I think you must have gone mad. I am sure you would have caught up with severe head ache. These are horrible memories making us to feel the pain and fatigue once again, whenever we think of that horrible experience. Sorry if I spoilt your mood. [Buchi_bulla]
oh yes I've miss bus many times.. and all I can do in that case..is,depending of the siutaion.. walk to my point, wait after the next bus,, take another one you pass near of where I want to go or call someone to drive me to my point! I really hate that especially when is not my fault if I miss the bus ahhawink [julie85]
Even if we say that we have missed the bus, people will blame us only saying that we should have come early, though coming early was not the reason for missing the bus. [Buchi_bulla]
When I was younger, we had no car, so the bus was our primary means of transportation. I remember one time when I was in 3rd grade, we had missed the bus to go home. It was the last bus of the day and we were half way across town. Our only option was to walk all the way Home. It wasn't so bad, as we were used to walking a lot, but it was obviously not something we wanted to do. lol [westonbyrne]
Walking leisurely at our own convenient time is different than walking compulsorily after attending a full day's school. That too after missing the bus, irritation will come over us and your each step will be heavy to walk. [Buchi_bulla]
Just wait for next. even if i have never missed, i always dream for that [MINDSAVER]
Hai friends, so bunking the classes started for you from school days itself right? Were you waiting to get a reason for bunking the classes? [Buchi_bulla]
Yes, I do. I missed buses many times.happyThe bus in our city is irregular. Just on this Monday, I missed a bus, while the distance between us less than 2 meters. I missed it and waiting the next one. Unfortunately, it took me about one hour to get the next one.sad And I also missed train one time. As trains are always running as the schedule, it was my fault. I didn't track the time. But luckly, my ticket was for non-seated. But as I missed it, I had to board on other one - which is for long-distance, usually this kind of trains always keep some carriage empty before certain stops. As my ticket was not for that shift, that means my ticket was not for certain carriage or certain seat. I could enter in the empty carriage, and took a seat. In another word, if I caught the original train, I had to stand all the time, as I must in the certain carriage as the ticket.lol [OrangJuice]
So missing the train was a blessing in disguise for you right? [Buchi_bulla]
Hello,This is my first response.Very glad.Yes,I have missed the bus a good few times on the way to school.I got up later.Haha...So I often late for school. My teacher was bored with me.But now,I just riding a bicycle to school and very early. My English is very poor,I hope I can get your help.Thanks. [Alicesnow]
Study well. If you listen to English news and read English news paper, if you watch others talking in English, your English will improve soon. God bless you my child. [Buchi_bulla]
I hate missing bus or a train. Its just terrible. When I missed the bus, I called the travel agency to get me the next one as fast as possible. When they said I couldnt, I yelled at them. I think missing buses and trains is our fault because we need to follow time. [rangerkoji]
Missing the bus or train is sometimes due to our late timings but other times, it is due to the uncontrollable crowd on which we do not have control. [Buchi_bulla]
Missing bus or train is a common situation in my country. I remember that my first year in college, when the spring festival was coming, most people chose this period time to go back home to get together with their family. Just as they did, I would go home too. But for my carelessness, I missed the train, then, I had to board the next train, which was so crowded and had no seats left. So, I had to stand in the train for more than 10 hours. Although it was so tired, I was still happy because I could get together with my family. [getbrowser]
Hai getbrowser, thanks for uploading the rare image. I can imagine how tired and painful it would have been to stand for 10 long hours in a train. This is like a child birth. After suffering from severe labour pain, when we look at the child, we forget all our pains and feel very happy. In the same way, after standing for 10 long hours, when you reach your place and see the faces of your family, I know you will forget the tiring 10 hours spent. [Buchi_bulla]
of couse,i met the damn things not only one or two times.i think the time is so long even it is just 1 or 2 minutes when i wait for bus in staion, especially you warry about you will late for someing so you wast time on wait for a bus.evey funny evey time i think about it .i hope the city bus company will get more and more bus for us ,or add bus what drive in the line.good luck [owntuilp]
thank u buddy.enjoy on mylot. [owntuilp]
As i am living in the small town... we have to go for another town for train... So we usually go by our car... one day we missed the train... but my uncle came to drop us in car... so we traveled to other station by car and caught the train .... that was really good experience and we all enjoyed it... [padhiaranand]
Hai I have seen this sort of thing, missing a train, taking a cab and catching the train in the next station, in a movie recently. This has happened to you in reality. However it was a happy ending of the story and you could board the train in the next station. Ha Ha Ha [Buchi_bulla]
I was returning home from Detroit Michigan, after having spent the weekend in Toledo Ohio. My friend in Ohio drove me to Detroit, but we missed the bus, so she ended up driving me ALL THE WAY HOME to my house in Canada! :) I thought that was a really nice thing for her to do. :) [danishcanadian]
