this is just freaking CREEPY! a few holiday inns in Britain are offering a trial service where you can get a human to warm your bed for you.. now the last thing i would want in my bed is some fleece wrapped freak warming my bed (may sound mean but im a germaphobe so this creeps me out on so many levels!) what happened to heating blankets? or something NORMAL? then again where can i apply for this job? wink
anyways people complained about cold Beds (um i never thought that was something you could complain about to a hotel but ok) and so now they will have a person in a fleece jumpsuit lay in your bed with a thermometer or something till its warm then leave before you return..
they did not say if the person would shower before each bed or not but that their hair would be covered... **SHUDDER!!!**
would you ask for this service? am i the only one thinking this is unsanitary and creepy? would you do this job? lol..

Yeah...doesn't seem like I would be picking this, if I were given the option. I don't know where they got the idea from but it jut doesn't seem to work for me personally. I think heating the blankets would be a much better alternative, maybe invest in some of those electric blankets or something like that, though it may not be as safe, it certainly isn't as creepy...Besides, I'd rather go for some adjustable bedding. Would I do the job? Maybe, if all I had to do was lie down in someone's bed and if i were being paid for it - what would the problem be? It's a better Alternative than working at a supermarket where you get abuse from customers...though if I were a customer and saw someone in my bed they might still get abuse anyway :D [giovannicosta]
Yeah I think this would a much easier job, you could bring a magazine in...it might be hard actually getting to sleep at night though if you were dozing off during the day in other people's beds :D [giovannicosta]
It would be awkward if you came back to your room while they still there, I mean would you be supposed to talk to them? Or should you just ignore them. What if you didn't notice them and they suddenly sat up, someone could have a heart attack. Surely they could just use some form of hot water bottle, they have pads you can heat in the microwave now and everything it can't be that difficult. [nancyrowina]
not to mention you might think your in the wrong room or if the person had cologne on that people were allergic to or something.. [moonlitmagikchild]
Okay ya know what?! I could care less if they showered, scrubbed, disinfected themselves with industrial strength Lysol and so on - THATS JUST GROSS!!Seriously, I find it disgusting! AND pretty sad that THIS is what the hotel came up with to solve the problem..like you said, whatever happened to heating blankets OR just buying fleece or flannel sheets for the cold months or SOMETHIGN other than having some stranger laying in the beds of your clients..UGH AND EEEWWW [Ravenladyj]
ugh i cant stop picturing some disgusting person in my bed warming it! [moonlitmagikchild]
Apparently they wear hygienic all in one suits. But I have to say that I can't seriously see this catching on. They spend a maximum of five minutes in your bed - from personal experience that's not long enough and they'll only warm a part of the bed that is their size and shape. So if a tiny woman warms the bed for me - a big fat man - then I see no benefit at all. I'd have thought an electric blanket would be better. No, I'd not do the job either. Sounds daft to me. [p1kef1sh]
i didnt even think about the size issue [moonlitmagikchild]
thumbdownIf i ever find one of those in my bed, i will definately throw him or her out of the window. I have my own personal human heater, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, my hubby. That sounds real creepy. You don,t even know them, but into your bed they,ll go. EEWWWEWWW.shocked [saphrina]
We cannot always have our own way, can we? w00tAt least he isn,t a cold fish. LOL. [saphrina]
Well, as I am a lamb, that does sound rather enticing to me...lol [The_Lamb_Lies_Down]
So if my wife & I went on vacation ( like that'll actually happen anytime soon ) & stayed at one of these places she wouldn't need me any more?shockedThanks but no thanks! [uath13]
Hold on, let me check my life insurance...WTF it's doubled...confused I'd better start watching what I eat. Are there any food testers out there?whistle [uath13]
its better to use a blanket to warm your body , instead of using human bed warmers, there is a difference between the two of them. you can it when you already experienced it. [mlno054321]
A human bed warmer sounds horrible. Not a husband or a wife but a stranger. Now that sounds very strange to me. I would rather me even a hot water bottle or a microwave cushion. Yes, the human bed warmer idea is very creepy. A bad should be clean and ready for the guest to sleep in. Having a strange person in the bed in order to warm it would make the Bedding dirty. I wouldn't wish to work as a human bed warmer. [maximax8]
i wonder if the people that stay for days if they have clean sheets every time for the bed warmer? i mean im thinking about how gross it would be to have one but it could be as equally as gross for them if they arent in a clean bed [moonlitmagikchild]
Are you serious? If so then this is disgusting. I could not bear to get into a bed that a stranger had just left. No way.angry [cynthiann]
I think the same... what a great job that would be, but I like beds when they're freshly made, super clean, not even wrinkled from my own weight yet, let alone someone else's. ...and yeah, it just seems weird. I'm such a cleanly person I'm working on getting one of my vehicles to use one of those car hydrogen generators. =) [LoSouLyricist]
exactly.. at least that is how i want a bed im paying for to be! [moonlitmagikchild]
EWWWWWWWWWWW, that's just creepy and I'm not a germaphobe. But it just isn't right on so many levels. I thought that MOTEL beds had a heater or vibrate function on them. At least that is what it looks like on the movies. lol I use an electric blanket myself and it works very nicely. [AnnieOakley1]
Just because the Hotel makes something available, doesn't mean that you have to use it. Those people should use their own discretion, but it would be nice to be available for others that wish them. Otherwise, I think it is back to the old standby......The Hot Water Bottle. Remember those old big rubber thingy's? Bed Warmers, voila! [AnnieOakley1]
i must say i've never heard anything so crazy in all my life! i also think thats pretty disgusting, and would not feel comfortable sleeping in a bed that has just been "warmed" up by a human! [jwl890]
nope me either! i want clean sheets! [moonlitmagikchild]
Hey moonlit! OMFG! Hell no! I don't even like the idea of sleeping in a motel or hotel to begin with because they don't wash the blankets between guests! That would freak me out beyond freaking! How bizarre is that and who the hell thought that up? And how do you get this type of job anyway? What do you have to do to apply? Now that's a question I really want answered! I think I could do that job pretty well! But, then again maybe not, again because of the blankets! I am really feeling like I need another shower now or put myself under one of those discount bathroom faucets to clean myself!! lol [Opal26]
oh i know! i worked as housekeeping for a hotel and they washed the top bedspread 1 or 2 a year! [moonlitmagikchild]
Interesting. I mean, I like it when my husband warms up the bed, but I don't think I'd like it if it were a complete stranger. [cutepenguin]
i wouldnt want some one elses pheramones or scent in my bed.. i mean i would hope they dont smell but still i would sense some one was there i would think [moonlitmagikchild]
ew! That would TOTAlly creep me out if someone I didn't know warmed up my bed. You'd think- with all the technology we have today- there could be some built-in mechanism to warm up beds. [olisaur]
there is thats why i dont get wtf this trend is about!! [moonlitmagikchild]
lol! yeah, the idea of a human bed warmer is indeed disturbing in so many levels. who ever thought of this idea has a very skewed sense of humor. seeing that this is happening in britain doesn't surprise me at all. those brits are weird! lol! seriously, i think this is just a marketing campaign for the holiday inn. perhaps something they thought of to increase awareness in their hotels and in turn increase the occupancy rates of rooms. times are hard so they want to think up of ways to put people in those rooms. hahahaha!!! would i do this job? i'd do anythign if the price is right... hahahaha!!! i mean how hard could it be? 'allen, room 679 needs it bed warmed up. the couple would be using it later for their honeymoon.' 'on my way sir.' weird. disturbing. funny...in so many levels but sure sign me up as a human bed warmer. i don't think there is an easier job out there. and look on the bright side, it's green! It's another form of alternative energy sources! [allen0187]
i cant believe a good hotel chain is risking their rep with this stupid idea! [moonlitmagikchild]
Wow. Bed warmers. Literally. Who would want this?? It's just gross. Now I am sure they would wear "hygienic" Clothing and all but it could never get to use that service. What if they have children and they get lice or something?? Maybe I'm kinda strange but I always liked the idea of warming up in the bed. Don't really know if I would do this job. I think it might feel like you're invading someone's privacy or something. [amielynn]
i would feel violated in a weird way somehow [moonlitmagikchild]
I have learned that in some countries it's to the guests respect that the host warm the bed for their guests. While camparing to the sevice in Britain,it's another thing.I hold the same oppion with you that it is unsanitary and creepy to ask for such a service. while talk about applying for the job, i think the applicants are willing to do that.they just need to warm the bed then get paid. who cares whether is clean or not. sounds about as dirty as money, toilets and change machines. [coldcolour]
yeah cause there are always those jerks that dont take the rules seriously and prob wouldnt be clean enough or be sloppy in how they did it and infect something with something lol.. [moonlitmagikchild]
eewwww..thats very creepy, its like your bed linens are not new and never had been changed. after opening your door someones been there in your bed? are you kidding me?.try to changed those linens again dear! [dhs1008]
haha then the bed would be cold again! why dont they just heat the linens and make the bed right before you get in?!?! that would be best [moonlitmagikchild]
hello every body keep smiling. [pdebnath3]
Wow! Weird! I guess it depends on who is going to be warming the bed! It wouldn't be too bad if they were really good looking. In fact they could really stay in the bed! lol_Derek [derek_a]
just seen the link :) this is cool :) hahahaxD maybe creepy when the lights are turned off *giggles* [girlie_techie12]
This is a joke with humanity, they wanna say that money can buy anything and everything but how can they buy sleep for their wealthy customers, Peoples like Michal Jackson cant buy a night of sleep full of sweet dreams. This have hurt me so much. This is insult of poor and their life. [rockydam83]
Hi moonlitmagikchild!^^ That's really odd! And it's kind of a coincidence because I was just reading an article at Yahoo the other day about hotel concierges doing the most outrageous things just for the clients. One I remember was a concierge going to a farm at the wee hours in the morning just to get milk freshly squeezed out from a cow as per request of a customer. And then there was another customer who requested the concierge to buy him 21 camels (or was that sheep, I can't clearly remember) and deliver them to his son in the middle east as his 21st birthday gift. The concierge did what he was requested.^^;; But this human bed warmers, wow. Hotels really do the every possible thing they can do no matter outrageous it is just to serve their customers. I will give them an A for that.^^;; For oddness. LOL Why the human bed warmers? What happened to heaters? And why a fleece jumpsuit?? That's really weird to the extreme.^^;; [secretbear]
thats crazy! i hope these people tipped well or something! otherwise i cant see doing all that for nothing! [moonlitmagikchild]
I do not think I would want this service. I would take me a hot water bottle along. Fill it up with hot water and put in the bed, it would warm it up. Some people would not mind it. Happy posting. [jezzmay]
i have never used a hot water bottle but i wouldnt want a human either.. i think i will warm it myself lol [moonlitmagikchild]
Hi, moonlitmagikchild. This is hilarious!lol I would never want someone to warm my bed up for me. That is just downright nasty! Why can't they just allow the guests to warm their own room up. Or, they could leave the bed unmade so that the heat from the heater could warm their bed up. I know that this was probably cost the hotel money, but they could leave the heater on auto, that way it goes on and off. The room will stay warm once they enter into it. I would never visit this hotel. If I had to and was in Britain, I would be bringing my own electric blanket, then I would just sleep on the chair. I don't know why this idea was thought of. I don't want no stranger body warmth on my bed. They mine as well be in the bed naked with me...rolleyes Yuck!!! My husband does not like to sit behind me. Like if I sat somewhere and he had to sit on the same seat, he can feel my rear end warmth. And he does not enjoy feeling the warmth of my butt. But he adores the crap out of me though.wub I don't want to lay behind someone that I don't know that has washed or not... That is skin contact germs, regardless of the fleece jumpsuit. If the hotel is doing all of this, then they should supply fresh, brand new fleece blankets to their customers. This s a very silly idea. And it makes me sick to my stomach too. [cream97]
i wanna know how freakin cold do they keep the rooms to where the beds need heat that bad?!?! [moonlitmagikchild]
eew..i think not. ask any navy guy how wise "hot bunking" isn't.. i'll definately pass on that one. [scarlet_woman]
