Hi! Kala!happy I suppose you are referring to long distance train journey. While travelling in train I would also keep some books/magzines with me so that I could read it, whenever I feel like. It also depends with whom I am travelling. If I am alone then the books are the best bet, besides listening to some good music on i-pod or on the mobile phone. If it is family members, who are travelling with me then I love chatting, providing others are not getting disturbed. I do not enjoy sleeping much, spcially during day time in journey. If a colleauge and friend is with me, I keep chatting with him. And if nothing works, I always enjoy and engross myself in watching the greenary around, which we miss in our Metro cities. Good Post! When on a train or a bus I like to look out of the window at the passing scenery. Sometimes I listen to music on my personal stereo. I often get chatting to friendly fellow passengers. I love train journeys however long but I don't like really long bus trips nearly as much. When on a plane I count to hours down. I read a book or a magazine if the journey is smooth. I must wear ear planes so then I have to turn the sound up on the head Phones high if I choose to watch a movie. If I travel on a ferry I appreciate fresh air on the deck. [maximax8]

I am always traveling back to my own home which takes about 2 hours drive from my present dwelling. I have just relocated myself to this place to run my family business. I will normally go back twice a month. I always armed myself with reading materials whenever I travel home. This keeps me entertained throughout the journey and not to reach for my watch everytime. The distance and the time it takes to reach home always deter me from making the journey. It is so tiring and boring. [zandi458]

I usually read or watch a good movie available. It's also my time in taking a nap so that I have enough energy when I arrive my destination. I live in a town two hours from a big city so I do alot of long travel by car. My husband always does the driving so I have "free time". I usually read or listen to my iPod. We chat along the way too and sometimes I nap. Really it's whatever is going to make the drive go by faster, it's a pretty boring drive. When we go to the mountains though, there's a lot of sight seeing you can do from the car, which is always cool. The mountains are beautiful and there's always wild life near the side of the road. MOst the time when I travel I have my husband and kids with me and we play a few games. Some that we just make up as we go and other are the old fashion ones. Like playing the license plate game. The way we like to do it is when we decide what catergory the word has to be (i.e. noun, verb place ect.) then when we see a license plate we thing of a word in that catergory that starts with the first letter of the license plate. Another we like to do is when we find out the state of which the plate is registered, the first one to say the capitol wins!! Mainly our goal throughout the trip is to spend quality time with the family. Whether it be a business trip or pleasure. [kmurphy]

HI cARPENTER, I also have this motion sickness.The last time I went on a trip, I consulted the doctor beforehand and he prescribed medicine for me.It was to the Himalayas.I managed very well, much better than my normal routine, but once during the return I just could not help getting nauseated and sick.It was beyond me and my medicine.But it was just once.But even for the local sightseeing, I just popped in the medicine and it was a big relief. when i travel like last january went to a place and it is usually traveled by bus which takes about 19hours i had with me my mp3 player,which put me to sleep hehehe which makes the travel faster or at times i gaze the window and see the scenery and i also bring a book but in that case i cannot put myself to read because that was in a bus and it is hard to read while in a bus which is moving..but when i am in a boat or a plane a good book is always handy to me:D [jazel_juan]

While traveling I am sometimes taking cards if there are many people then we can play with it in a long journey. Even we can play different games while traveling specially when it is college trip. The timing of the day I am full, I will not one day do one thing in because I do not think life is too monotonous. I day, in addition to sleep, eat and go to the toilet, I will spend two hours of exercise, such as yoga, ballet and so on. Then, I will spend half an hour of meditation, two hours spent watching TV, spend 1 hours to read, spend half an hour to watch the news, as well as one hours spent chatting, the remaining time, I will doing the page, write prints East and West. Where I live in Ireland You can travel by car,or bus internally,or by plane when leaving the country! If not driving,(Usually!)then,I'll have maybe a book with Me,and probably my cellphone,which is an entertainment centre as well as a communication tool..There are games on it,an MP3 Player,a radio,the camera,and an ebook reader function,so I'd seldom have nothing to do..and that's only if I'm not along with somebody while travelling! Hello kalav56! When I was still in college, I travel a lot. It's 7 hours trip from the city I studied to my parents house. I sometimes brought a book with me while waiting for the bus to leave the terminal but it's hard to me to read when we are on the road already. Sometimes, I brought my mp3 too but I was tired of the songs sometimes..hehehe..So usually, I just looked at all the roads the we passed. [aisaellis22]

Firstly, I apologise for the delay in responding. Hope you understand. These days, I only get to travel very seldom. The last time I traveled was 2 years back when my sisters had come down to India. We traveled to our home in Orissa. It was different than other times because my 5 year old niece was with us. We chatted till we found some good greenery to gaze at. I love the greens and beautiful nature and can keep gazing at it forever. Other than that, I also carry books and Reader's Digest, my favorite periodical. There are a couple of things that I like to do on long journeys, especially airplane ones. One of them is to solve Sudoku puzzles and the other is to embroider. I find that embroidery really helps to pass the time, although it is a bit difficult at the moment with all the airport controls, as they don't usually allow scissors, regardless of how big or sharp they are. In cases of emergency then I just rely on my teeth to cut the embroidery floss! [sylvia13]

I love long distance travel especially if it's something like a vacation or the sort. I set aside my gadgets and just focusing and enjoying the scenic of the roads. I love to look at the view that I don't normally see everyday and make most of the time doing it. I don't mind long distance travel like in a countryside but like if I were in the City and stuck in the traffic for a long time, that would be seriously and freaking pain in the *ss! i love traveling firs and foremost. When I am traveling long or short distance I normally like to look at the country side, with all the green growing around. I live in a city and hectic town, so most of the green has cut down to either build house or office building. sometimes the heat is so strong that i can hardly bear it due to insufficient green around. secondly when traveling, i love to sight or look at new place to plan for my next vacation. Hi Kala, Spending time for long journey, before answering your question I would like to say something. We are visiting our native place mostly every year by train and reaching the third day. The journey from Delhi to Kerala is so enthusiastic and time is running so fast without boring but the return journey is really boring.(lol) Now answer to your question, we are taking magazines and newspapers with us and I love to watch the place through window by sitting inside the train and you know the happiest thing is I am getting some rest after a long hectic schedule (lol). I don't encourage reading while you are traveling or riding a bus or a car. Although reading is good but it's not good for the eyes. Well I usually spend my time while traveling looking out of the window of the bus to see the panoramic view of greenery outside. Sometimes I'll just listen to my mp3 till I fall asleep.
