My fella is all about doing some good traveling this summer, and we made plans this weekend to drive to a great zoo, and spending a couple of days teaching our little adventurer about all the animals. We invited our good friend to come with us and bring their kids, but yesterday, they backed out, due to the heat. I told them that its summer in the south, it wasn't going to get any cooler for a long time, but they backed out all the same.
Our next idea was to drive to the coast and visit an aquarium, and we just happened to have friends driving to a beach house from Ohio, so we could stay with them and visit. They were our close pals in DC. But, that's going to be a no go too. So, I'm looking forward to a trip to Target and maybe some cold snack later with my Kate.
Did I mention its 100 degrees here today?
Yep, so I've been doing a lot of complaining around here lately, and I'm sorry I sound so miserable all the time. But this one might be a blessing in disguise.

Its been scorching hot here too. A couple of the grandsons have spent the weekend here. Some other family members were here visiting and swimming also. Its been a weekend of family. I have stayed in did the cooking and washing the dishes. Plus trying to stay cool at the same time. Tomorrow I will be going to church with my mom. [Polly1]
Not been a great weekend so far. My husband says he's not feeling well and doesn't want to leave the house. I don't have much cash on hand at the moment. It's in the mid 90's here and the price of gas ain't going down, lol...so I won't be going too far. [lucy02]
No my weekend started going wrong on Thursday, original plan was I had a funeral to attend Thursday afternoon, my younger daughter was going to see the Foofighters at Wembley on the Friday and I was having dinner with a friend and my eldest daughter and son Friday night before driving back today, I made it for the funeral but my daughter was ill and I had to forfeit her Foofighters ticket and drive back home getting back about midnight, but she really wasn't up to it so I did have to come back home. There will be other weekends. If it is that hot where you are you are probably just as well being at home. Imagine getting caught in a traffic jam in that heat, no thanks. You're right, Ellie, it was a blessing. We have this stupid computer chip in our Jeep that is on the fritz, so the air conditioner only blows out of the defrost vents, which keeps us cool IF we let it run for a while. Gotta get that fixed real soon, HUH? LOL [Katesmama]
So far the only plans I have for today are to finish building my computer work station, and possibly finish cleaning the house. On Sunday, my husband and I are planning on having his mom's b-day party. Since her birthday is on a Monday and we have to work than. Other than that, I plan on sitting in front of my air conditioner for the remainder of the time, and possibly get some work done with my online store. That's dependable though, since heat makes me really sleepy. [jeweledbluerose]
My plans are to stay out of this heat as much as possible! LOL I'm from Baltimore originally, then lived in Columbia, MD just before moving here to Virginia. So we're having just about the same kind of weather. I know what you're talking about! Honestly, it really is better for you and your daughter to not be in this heat for too long, like going to the zoo. The animals are most likely going to be staying inside, anyway, where they can get out of the heat. Target sounds good! It's air conditioned! Otherwise, stay inside, eat some of that fresh fruit and enjoy indoor activities. Or how about getting into your swimsuits, going outside and have a water battle with your daughter? I did that when my kids were young once and it was such fun! [mentalward]
Yes... isn't this heat awful? It hit us so suddenly! We're supposed to get up to 99 today, and it isn't even Summer yet!!! My poor garden! I go outside a couple of times a day just to water them in an attempt to keep their poor little roots from roasting. I remember this type of heat hitting Baltimore once before... it reached 103 and I lost a lot of my vegetable garden to it. They got plenty of water, but the heat was just too much. Nah, this is definitely "inside" weather. "Borrowing" air conditioning by going shopping is always a great alternative, even if you just window shop. That might be a great idea for your daughter! Take her "shopping", but don't buy anything. Tell her to show you things that she'd like for her birthday, or holidays, etc. as you go along, and you can write them down on a list. She'll know it's not a trip for buying right now, but she'll have fun picking things out. AND, you both stay cool at the same time! [mentalward]
Why does that ruin your weekend? Ya'll can still go to the zoo. The high here today is suppose to be 91, but the wind is blowing so it is really nice outside even in the sun. Feels a lot cooler here than it really is. If it wasn't for the humidity and my hubby who is always hot, I would have the windows open, A/C off (which is what I do when he is at work). [sedel1027]
Well, the other couple has a two year old too, and they are best pals--I baby sit her a few days a week, so they are like PB&J. It would have been nice to have them around to pal with. But, it sure was too hot this weekend, I'm glad we didn't chance it. [Katesmama]

Wow! we still haven't reach 100 degrees here ,but is very hot too. I love summer and the hot weather doesn't bother me too much ,but try to wear sunscream if you go out with your baby girl. Sometimes we get burn and we don't even know it. [Mirita]

I live in the south and the weather is very warm.. so warm that I didn't want to go out for a walk. I don't mind walking when it is early morning and it is cooler.. but when the humidity gets high forget it.. I am finished. Hope you have a good time doing something. [OreoCookie3]
We're in NC, there is some kind of wierd mountain affect we're having that is making it unbearable. I saw it on the news, but didn't pay too much attention to it. I don't know if you saw a discussion I did about a month ago about a tornado warning making me miss my favorite show's final episode, but that weather lady responsible was the one talking about the mountain thing and I turned her off. I am home alone for the weekend and I started my period and I have eaten too much because I have pot. Now I feel extra bloated and also, it is really hot here, but the air conditioning only works in the living room. WAHWAHWAHHH. [wooitsmolly]
Hi Kate Im sorry your plans were messed up. I hate when that happens. Just be thankful you have your health. I had surgery a couple of weeks ago and ended back in the hospital with low potassium levels. So Im not doing anything. Except mylotting and sleeping. Its really hot here today 98 degrees. I have found that when my plans are ruined, it's usually for a reason. I was going to go to church a few weeks ago but suddenly felt horrible so I stayed home. There was a bad car accident on my usual route about the time I would have gone. You may have avoided a disaster! I hope your weekend is great! There are lots of things to do at home like a wading pool, I always had great fun with my kids in those. It's hot here, too. I mowed the yard late last night to avoid the worst of the heat. I'm sorry to hear your weekend plans didn't work out the way you wanted them to for you would of had lots of fun to have gone to the zoo see the animals w/ your daughter and friends and their kids. It's understandable to get irritable when the heat is to much for I am like this to when it get's to be really hot for us here in july and aug. You still managed to make the best of it though by getting some snacks and spending time w/ kate that's really nice and I hope you had fun. Unfortunately I never have weekend plans for I work nights on the week ends. I hope to get another vacation in again by sept. and then will have a weekend to be able to do something fun and exciteing. [Remembering1996]

That sucks on your weekend plans! I hate to have a great weekend like that all planned out an then not get to go! I did have better plans this weekend then what I got to do but it was still work. My hubby and I are having a cookout for his birthday on next Saturday (bday not until the 19th though). I've been Painting our house on Thurs & Sun nights for the last couple of months and it's going to be our big 'unveiling' to the family. But this weekend we were suppose to get our yard all cleaned up - haul off cans to be recycled, have some trash to take to the dump (broken swing, old grill, ect). Hard work but it was going to be nice to be outside. But he ended up having to work! UGH! In a way it is good cause I got more time to get the things that need done inside done (and it's a long list LOL) but on the other hand I really wanted to 'play' outside this weekend. It's sort of disappointment when our weekend plans have been ruined. I always spend weekend with my wife, visiting places and do the grocery shopping or maybe visiting a friends house. We thought to give our friends a call first asking whether it is ok for us to visit them. If they say for valid reasons then we can understand but I don't see why not that visiting friends place can be fun and we can also find out all sort of things that they have so maybe we might think it is good idea and to follow it. Yesterday we visit shopping mall that we haven't been there for a year and today we just stay at home since my wife already prepared lunch for both of us and this afternoon we will go to Sunday afternoon church service. We feel every weekend have been right for us and no problems at all except if there is something emergency, [jhartana]
We had plans for the weekend also but it is so hot outside. We do have a swimming pool but the humidity takes your breath as soon as you go out the door. that is miserable too. It has been in the 90's here in Indiana. Gas is so expensive to go somewhere also. WE would like to work out in our yard too but it is way to hot for that also. So far, the weekend turned out excellently! And there is still one more day left! It's not too hot here, yet, so we went to a nearby touristy town called Keystone. There, we walked on the boardwalk, checked out some shops and then decided to get the kids' pictures taken Old style. I love doing the old time portraits! The 2 boys were cowboys with guns, whips, and alcohol bottles, and then my girl was a little bar maid with a shot glass...maybe some might think its inappropriate for kids, but they know it's just for fun and we had a good time. My best friend and I did the bar scene, too, lol and had a blast! I had handcuffs, a derringer, and it was great fun! The pictures turned out good, and I am having one framed for the kids' dad for father's day! Then, my friend and I dropped the kids off with my grandma and went to see Made of Honor. That was a very good movie. Cheesy and romantic but definitely good just the same! I would see it if I were you! [kfrisk]

Well, it can't be so bad. Things here in my city are a bit off hook. It's damn hot in the afternoon and by evening it starts raining. Its so confusing that we cannot do anything, But all of the afternoon I have no worries about the heat because I'm working on a project in a Software company which has a central AC system. Me along with my five team members stay in a room with AC on.. cooling off .. Although i have to say that those days are about to end as the project is coming to an end. It's nice and warm here. Not as hot as where you are. I've been "waiting" for the humidity to set in but it hasn't. happy So I hadn't planned anything as far as going someplace. I had lunch outside and got some rays at the same time. When it gets really humid then it's usually better to stay inside. My weekend went ahead as planned..that is just staying home in the morning and off to lunch with my aunt. We had a good time together at lunch and at the mall after. I had not made no plans for this weekend though and so nothing has happened to disappoint me. Today is really hot here in montreal with 40*C and lots of humidity :S so I just want to go to a mall and stay there just sitting with the A/C But, Ill go to a friends house and help him install his A/C and then do a Barbeque, drink some beers ;) so thats my plan for today. [jojeda]
I would say the heat is against you. I can take the heat, but some people just can't, but could you not just have gone to the zoo without your friends? Did you call your friends who were staying at the beach house? You do not need anyone else other than your family, the friends were an added bonus but not necessary. Only plans I had for this weekend, or Saturday, was getting up at 6:05, to take my husband to his drop off point, to catch his ride for drill weekend. Then go back home, and wait until 12:30 rolled around, went got gas, and took my youngest to her 3rd birthday party. She had a blast, I stayed and helped the mom out with decorations. Then rushed back to the drop off point to pick hubby up and headed home. Today, he drove, which saved the guy who went with him on gas. It was 95 yesterday and it's only the beginning of June, ugh, I'm not looking forward to summer. I would love to go see the aquarium in Atlanta, I know my kids would love to go there. With gas prices so high, no plans on going anywhere, except the market and hubby going to work. [chertsy]
100 degrees, yikes. Slows down the pace a bit for sure, but cancelling on you all together is a bit rude. Why didn't you guys just go without them? We sure would have. I wanted to get together with people but they were unavailable... I did though talk with them on the telephone which was nice. And today, I wound up meeting with one friend snd we went to eat and to browse in an area we call Little India to look at furnishings, books, yantras and other things in the shops. i usually spend my weekend at home. just doing the things left undone for the busy week. i do my laundry, cleaning of the house and have rest after. it is a normal routine for me, and in case something new will come for a change like going out for a travel, that would sound fun. [julyteen]
