All three definitely have their merits and are offer very different experiences as well. It all comes down to what type of people you are and what inspires you. If you wish to set off on an historical type of journey then the Great Wall of China, Terracotta Warriors and the temples and ancient architecture throughout China is perfect. If you wish to be in a modern upbeat city with great food and shopping then I would siggest Singapore! If you are a beach person that just wants to chill and shop and again eat great food but ultimately just relax and take it easy; then I would recommend Thailand! Be wary of the time of year too. Singapore is pretty much the same all year round temperature wise; Thailand has a rainy season; and if you were to travel to the Great Wall of China in say late January or February or so, then you will freeze because it is very cold that time of year! Good luck! [James72]
hello. how's your day... hmmm... that's great... atleast we can save money. we are on limited budget. [shiloh_222]
Definitely Singapore first! It has great shopping, but quality even though it is cheap, there are also a lot of department stores that are from around the world. Next up would be China as they have a lot of interesting traditions and places to visit. I wouldn't go to Thailand, i think it's a very seedy place, too many drugs, and i've only heard of alot of guys going there for getting women. [snowberries]
hi thanks for the information. all of these will help us decide well... but we are on a tight budget... we are also considering japan... japan next year, during their cherry blossom festival. [shiloh_222]
I have already been to lovely Singapore three times. I would find it challenging to choose between interesting China and pretty Thailand. China is a large country and it had got a really good train system. Most of all there I would want to see the Great Wall. Thailand is a small country and its transport system has some trains, buses where the trains don't go and ferries to get over to the islands. Most of all there I would like to do some island hopping and snorkeling. Shopping for souvenirs in Bangkok would be exciting. The culture, the architecture and the history would be fascinating in both countries. Chinese people are friendly and clever and Thailand with its friendly people is known as the land of the smiles. I think I would love to tropical climate that Thailand has got. Beijing does get cold sometimes and as China is so large the climate varies considerably. Before booking my trip I would check which is the warmest and pleasant time in China as well as rich is the dry season in Thailand, again the two three Coastlines might vary. One of my colleagues went to Thailand and had a delightful time. I would be 60% likely to choose Thailand and 40% likely to choose China. What a difficult decision. Good luck and happy traveling. [maximax8]
Hi1 I've been to Singapore and the country is packed with wonderful places. You can actually roam around the country in three days. I can't say much with China and Thailand but I think China has a cheaper products than with Singapore and with Thailand (maybe because there are now lots of factories in China) [chrysz]
hi there...nice to hear that. and what i heard is that they have great MTR system like that of hongkong which made it so easy to move around. thanks and happy mylotting!!!!! [shiloh_222]
ill go for visiting Singapore. Ive seen pictures and read some stories about it and as well as heard from my sister 'cause she's been there. I guess China is too big for me. ehehehe. And Thailand is a little the same from my country's place so there.. [thaMARKER]
hi thanks for the reply. i want to go and see the great wall of china and probably shenzen's windows of the world, but it's a little pricey adn beyond my budget...wah...happy mylotting... guess i have to mylot more [shiloh_222]
I've lived in Singapore when I was younger and the place grew on me. I've been back twice after and it still holds the same magic for me. I really appreciate the discipline and how they've built such a tiny island state into something so significant and prosperous over the years. Heard a lot of stories about Thailand, and if you want to absorb culture, hit the beach and go shopping, then this is the place to go. Now China has an allure all its own. Remember this is a very historic place steeped in culture. Many sites to see, a lot of traditions to experience and I really would love to visit the places where they make paper the old way, fireworks factories, and even the noodle makers. All these said, consider the cost of traveling to any of your choices. Singapore is quite expensive because it is so progressive and everything is urbanized. Thailand, you could probably get by with a little pocket money and still have fun. China, on the other hand, is such a huge place to explore and with all their improvements for the Olympics, prices have increased a lot. So, take your pick, but most of all ENJOY your trip! [alena824]
I'd say China... just because I'd say that's like the most touristy country out of all of them. The Great Wall of China would be a lot of fun to see! I'd google all 3 countries and see which one you'd most like to travel to. Good luck and have fun! [doresammi]
hi. thanks for the reply. thanks... we hope we can decide and have the budget, if ever. happy mylotting [shiloh_222]
All 3 offer quite a different mix of things to do and places to see.. Depends largely on what you want to do and see in a country. All 3 are interesting and each has its own charm. For shopping, all 3 are good candidates really. China and Thailand have dirt cheap stuffs throughout the country, if you are into that. If you want a little better quality, I'd say Singapore. But personally, I'm contented with China and Thailand stuffs when it comes to clothes. If you want to shop high-end, don't choose China. Most imported stuffs are expensive there. If you are into electronics and other gadgets, Singapore is a good choice and well, Hong Kong. On the other hand, if you have little time, Singapore would be best for you. It's a small country, so you don't need to spend too much time to go around. If you have plenty of time, definitely try out China. It's a huge place and almost everywhere is interesting, from east to west and north to south. If you are a beach person, definitely Thailand. For me, China and Singapore beaches are quite a bore. They have other more interesting things to offer than beaches. I've been to all 3, but if I were to choose I would go back to Thailand mainly because I was there on a very very short time and wasn't able to explore more of the country. [inutme]
sorry, i meant, i wasn't able to explore the country fully [inutme]
i would like to choose china...i like their cultural maybe I'm a Chinese too... i hope that if i could be there ,i would like to visit the great wall of China....it is very grand...just like a gigantic dragon...it has approximately 6700 kilometres from east to west of china....the success of this construction is because of the emperor 'QIN SHI WANG'..he is called a tyrant or despot by others....the success of the great wall of china also depend on a lots and a lots of human resourse at that dynasty... Besides, the place of historic i interested.... i also would like to try their taste foods like 'siao long pao', 'tang pao', bbq lamb meat, baked potato, 'la mian' and so on....uhmmmm.....so delicious....at malaysia...it is very difficult to find this tasty foods... i really hope that i could be there in one day...:) [p3y5566]
I will confirm choose Singapore. Its feel safer and its is very accessible even thought it is a smaller country. And you can get to try the food from different country and culture. Quite a interesting country. You should give it a try if you had been to Singapore before. You will enjoy it. [949011]
I know China has alot of tourist attractions. You can probably spend a month in China fully touring all the tourist attractions. Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Hong Kong, Shanghai but if you are going out side the cities I would strongly reccomend you take someone who knows Chines and English fluently if not you'll run into communication problems in the rural areas. I can't really think of anything in Singapore that is a tourist attraction but in Thailand thaere are alot. Thailand is pretty interesting. It has several Hindu and Buddhist attractions. I remeber seeing an old abadoned Hindu temple in a forest in Thailand on TV I think it was on Jeff Corowin when he was looking for the deadliest snakes in Asia. [jbg45638]
I come from Singapore and it'll be great if you can drop by. Which country you choose really depends on the kind of trip you want. If you want to have a great getaway at a beach resort, I would suggest Thailand. They have many great beach resorts at Pattaya, Phuket, Krabi and etc. Thailand is very good for shopping too. Their things are very cheap (much cheaper than Singapore) As for China, I've only been to Shanghai. China is great for their scenery. If you want to catch scenery, you should go to places like Yunnan. Lastly, Singapore is good for... food?! I'm born here so I think the food here tastes great. Among the 3 countries, Singapore is most expensive to travel on. Our taxis are relatively more expensive than the other 2 countries. Singapore has many shopping places too. You can find shopping malls all over the island. My 2 cents - Poohgal ^^ [poohgal]
i've been to singapore and thailand before so definitely i'll choose china among the three. the country is full of tradition but at the same time has been keeping up with most modern countries so i think you get a good serving of both worlds. anyway, try to find out with your friend what you want to get out of this trip. is this trip for fun? vacation? business? or a little bit of everything? also, consider your budget and schedule when planning the trip and choosing the right destination. regardless, i'm sure you'll enjoy yourself. cheers!!! [allen0187]
HAHAHAHA Well come to Las vegas, NV I will be your free guide , no charge for my services LOL. You play the slot machine(s) you win we go 50 /50 ok is that a good deal or what??? [coolguy01]
i wld choose china.....i feel china is nice ...i had nevr been ther...singpre & thailnd are also grt destinations i cant reject tht....but china is somthg more gud2 visit... [srini33333]
I'll just rank this according to my preferences: 1st: Definitely Singapore. I heard from my friend that there is this shopping district with very cheap prices. She told me you can buy a lot of things there. And it is just small, you can tour the whole country in a week. Though small, my friend told me that it is very beautiful. 2nd: Thailand, I heard that you can buy gold in Bangkok for cheap prices. I think that it is a good investment that is why I want to go there. 3rd: China, well it is beautiful but one tv show here told that the food is gross. No offense to the CHinese people, it came from the tv, not me. They had a tour in China, I dunno where but that is what they said. [trishasantos]
I would not choose China because I heard they are not very nice to people who are disabled and I am. I'm assuming however, this does not apply to your case and if that was the truth for me I would probably go to China because their culture is so old. I don't know much Thailand and Singapore so I have no opinion in their regard. All I've ever heard about Thailand is the sex district although I'm sure there's more to the country than that. I have never heard anything about Singapore in my life. We had an exchange student from there once but that is all that I know. [cripfemme]
well. i think those three countries are very good choice. all of them are in aisa. in my opinion, they have their unique traits singapore is a country that is developing pretty fast those years, and mother language of the country is english and chinese. so if you could speak one of the languages. it can be very helpful when u r travelling there. and besides, the clean environment is a good thing that you cannot miss there. china is holding the olympics right now. so there are a lot of people here in china. you could enjoy the beautiful scenery and plus and fantastic olympics. and china has got a pretty long like 5000 years history. cool place to visit. thailand.i do not have much knowledge about this place. but i have seen a lot of ads and tour prochures that this country is also very beautiful. people are hospitable. and beautiful environment. cool and fresh air. up to your choice good luck and bon voyage. [nic_knick]
Hi there shiloh_222. My wife and I are pretty much travellers to these 3 places owing to our occupation as businessmen. I should say that Thailand is a better travel destination compared to the other two, depending on your preference. Yes, singapore is a clean place but there is nothing really to sight see except for sentosa island where you can enjoy interaction with dolphins, whale and sea lions in their theme park. The products sold in singapore are quite costly to an average traveler. But they cook exquisite cuisine, I must say. A common dish you may order in hotels or in restaurants nearby is their version of hainanese chicken which has a delectable taste. China, on the other hand, is a good place to go to if you can speak chinese or you have a tour guide who speak their language. Otherwise, there is a possibility that you would get lost in your directions and this would be a serious distraction in your traveling experience. But if you plan to go to Hongkong, which is part of China now, then you are ok. Lots of bargain prices there to find. Thailand, however, is better than the other two. You shouldn't miss Bangkok, Changmai and Phuket. If you love the flea markets at night with prices that you could personally bargain a good discount for, then Bangkok is the city to shop. Changmai is also know for its almost a kilometer wide of retail shops selling local handicrafts, inexpensive yet branded clotheswear, ladies accessories and electronic items (women love it there for obvious reasons). And if you are a lover of beaches, Phuket island is the place to go to with their surreal tropical setting. Anyways, hope this helps. Happy travelling! [baruchaba]
I've only been to two of the three: Singapore and Thailand. I would definitely suggest Thailand!! For one it's going to be a TON cheaper so you can do more, but it's bigger and there's more to do. Everything about Thailand is amazing! The people are wonderful. The scenery is beautiful. The food is amazing. The place is just enchanting. Transportation is everywhere and it's cheap. You can also travel from Bangkok to a bunch of other places pretty cheap, check out www.airasia.com Besides, where else in the world can you get a two hour Thai massage for 5 American dollars? [Amstardam]
I have never been to Asia but if I do go, China will be high on my list because of all the historical sites and natural beauty. [dawnald]
All are great places but if ask to choose one or first i will pick thailand. great country and real friendly peoples, their life is full of enjoyment. [smartbrain69]
I would have to choose Thailand. Not for tourist reason or that I know anything more about the country, but that's where the oldst boy lives and I'd love to take a couple of weeks off and to visit him. [ljegbers]
happyi guess i like to go to thailand..since i had watch reality tvs..showing some spots(i mean beautiful spots) in thailand and im curious also on their culture as well..do you know their culture? please share here.. [vanities]
Hi Shiloh, I would recommend to go to Singapore. The place is really worth seeing and You can shop as well as you can. See Beauty, modern life and enjoy your free time to the fullest. Best of Luck [shreya2436]
I've already been to Thailand and to China so I'll choose Singapore for now. I've only visited Thailand and China for a few days though so I'd love to go back. Thailand is a good place to eat and shop. The food's so cheap and the selection's great. Clothes are very affordable as well. Markets and streets are brimming with great finds at bargain prices. In China, I only got to visit Shanghai for a couple of days. The buildings were so nice! At nice the whole city comes to life and so it's full of sounds and colors. It's not a very nice place to shop because I'm not a big fan of 'made in China' clothes. The food's great but not as cheap as in the Philippines and in Thailand. The people are not as friendly either. [mimico]
My, my.. I can see that many voted Singapore. I'm from Singapore. Maybe because I'm here, I would vote for Thailand. I want to visit the beautiful beaches there. I love the beach. Actually, it depends on what you want to see. Do you want to see an urban landscape, visit Singapore. If you want beautiful beaches, cheap stuff, Thailand is also a great place to shop. If you like culture and history, go China. So what do you want to see? [SydneyHazelton]
Honestly, I would choose Thailand for their awesome food, but as for sight seeing, I would choose China. Since China has the most to offer in the way of sight seeing, I would choose China. [rogue13xmen13]
i had gone to all the places that you mention above... but i would prefer to go to singapore first if i never been there... i love singapore as the country is really clean and organised... also, it is great for shopping besides hongkong as the prices there are relatively cheap... take care and have a nice day... [lingli_78]
I depends on what you are looking for. If it is great shopping at affordable prices Thailand is by far the best choice. For a cultural experience in a place with a lot of historical sites and a vibrant culture that traces it roots back more than a thousand years chose Thailand. If your love meeting new friendly, open people and making new friends in a new culture than it is Thailand. One small word of warning. I came to Thailand on a two week vacation fourteen years ago and am still here. It can be addicting. [Chiang_Mai_boy]
given a choice i would go for Thailand as its closer home n will work out cheaper for me and i love the food items and yes most of all i would love to go for sight seeing and do a lot of shopping cos the kinda clotheline available out there is exaclty what i look for.So its Thailand to start with n yes china n singpagore definately after saving up [walnutbrownie]
It really depends on what you are looking for. Singapore and Thailand and now very westernised and although both have their beauty, for me, there are too many westerners there. (I am one by the way!) I just love Eastern culture, so for me, I would choose China. I went there once and loved it and the people. I found the natural Chinese people very intelligent and curious about the West. Difficult to choose but as I said, it depends what you want from the trip :-) [viet129]
I come from China , so i wish that you will come to China ,you know ,China ,now ,are taking place an Olympic Games ,you can go to Beijing to travel the Greatwall ,it's so magnificent, you also can eat roast duck ,it's so decilious, then ,you can go to the Shanghai ,Shanghai is an international big city ,there are a lot of big markets, such as Huaihai Road ,Nanjing Road and so on...there are a lot of decilious food in Yu Garden ,a lot of foreigners go to there to photoing, eating and playing ...Hahaha ...there are many interesting things in China ,I think that if you will go to China ,you won't forget it forever [Snowpa]
I already travel to those places and including Malaysia was so much of special tourist spot and especially for their foods but through all of this Thailand and Malaysia is one of the best place to go for vacation........ [iyah10]
China is the current hot spot. Before I would have said Singapore, but now I really want to visit all the stadiums they built for Olympics. That is along with China wall and other places [pkraj111]
well it really depends on where you are coming from. it also depends on what you want to see. i'd narrow your choice down a little further - china or singapore & thailand. singapore and thailand is actually pretty close to each other. a flight of about 2 hours will take you from one to another. these two countries are good for shopping and eating. i'm from singapore so i'd say the shopping and food is good. but i also visit thailand quite a bit for food and shopping too. as for china, it's really quite different from the other two countries. i've visited china too but more for the culture. cheers ;p [applefreak]
Definately Singapore for me. It helps that English is one of the main languages used there, as I think I'd feel overwhelmed going to a country and not knowing any of the language. Plus I've seen lots of photographs of Singapore quite recently and it looks like such a beautiful country. [bunzor]
Of course is China, and absolutely it is! Olympic games are showing in Beijing, the captical of China. Everyday, the athletes from 204 countries are showing their understanding of Olympic sprits and giving us large numbers of excellent games. The Chinese are very friendly and welcome all the people to visit China. So, you are welcome to Beijing! [arthurSung]
Hmmm Singapore...happy Its just because I never saw tall buildings... I have always lived in a small city ( not actually a city).. where there are no much buildings... and all the flyovers and stuff like that.... I heard there are very tall buildings and huge flyovers there... So i would like to see them.... I would also want to see Singapore at night. So when are you leaving to singapore...^_^happy [venkygec]
I would chose Thailand. Well I do love Thai food, and it is a beautiful country and they have those Siamese dancers. I would not like China because it is not a free country, and i do not trust the Chinese government, and Singapore is small and probably crowded as all get out. You would be bumping into people and apologizing all the time. So Thailand is it. I saw several movies about Thailand, and how they rowed their boats and sold flowers, food, etc. and it looked so romantic. [suspenseful]
Hello my dear shiloh_222 Ji, Without much 'ifs and buts', I would prefer starting country, which starts from my name of spelling. Singapore is a problemless country. You may get in touch with following http://www.tripadvisor.com/CommercePopunder?geo=&detail=294262&mainWindowReturnTo=/Tourism-g294262-Singapore-Vacations.html&fromServlet=Tourism. have a great day.rasp [shalu1975]
hi there.. i will surely visit... my friend and i have been evaluating our options. we don't want to spend much... and i have to mylot alot... hahahahhaa... thanks for the reply. [shiloh_222]
You know I am from China, so I can give you more information. I think you will like the various kinds of delicious Chinese food here. China is a big country, so you have more choices to decide where to visit. Such as if you like the beach, you can go to Hainan. If you like the history and want to see something like that, you can visit Beijing or Xi'an. If you want to see the beautiful scenery, then Yunnan and Sichuan Jiu Zhai Gou will be an ideal place. I love China [youless]
Location, Location, Location. Thailand, Thailand, Thailand. Singapore is a great place, but that's all it is, its to young to be much else, and its not cheap, as some would have you think. China, a wonderful country, with wonderful people, and plenty of them lol however the problem for me with China, it's a bit politically correct, and you have to be a little bit careful if your some one that's over the top in the fun department. Thailand, with out a doubt is the place to go, cheap every thing, fantastic people, seaside, rural, and city, yes its true to say there a bit in your face, but I think most countries where people struggle for income are, and don't believe all you here about Thailand being a hot bed of sin, every country has there own hot beds of sin, even China, and Singapore. Buddha Be With You... [Khunben]
cause i've lived in shanghai 4 about 15 years,so i can tell u that china is reli a good point to travel!and u say singapore thailand (malysia) these 3 countries is a whole trip line to travel!and it's not very expensive!sooooo,i suggest you can choose only china or three whole! [blair_likely]
if i am given the opportunity i will choose china because i want to see on my two eyes the wonders of the world that can be seen while you are in the moon which is the Great Wall of China. i want also to meet chinese people who are very good entrepreneur. i admire them for being good in business and i wanted to know also why products from china are cheaper than any other country. [julyteen]
I haven't been to Singapore, but I have been to China and Thailand, and it really depends on what type of holiday you are after. Thailand is great for it's beaches and relaxing. China is great for history, culture and tours. Neither is better than the other, as they are completely different places, meaning you will get a completely different set of experiences from both. [kriszelunka]
It really would depend on how much time you have on your hands. If all you have is just a few days and you can't live without an urban lifestyle, then perhaps Singapore would be an ideal choice. Thailand offers a more laid back lifestyle with its wonderful beaches, but it also has lots of great places for shopping. China, I feel, is a place one can be immersed in deep Chinese history and culture, while enjoying a slower pace of life and exotic food all at the same time. [timou87]
hi shiloh! happy so have you went on a trip with your friend already? i have also been planning to go on a trip. my first choice was Singapore. but i've spent some of my money so i'm now thinking of going to Hongkong instead because its cheaper to go there. if i were to choose among the three countries you mentioned, i would choose Singapore. its a personal of course. i have been wanting to visit Singapore since last year. i am so curious with the place because it seems a nice country, with all the cleanliness there and all the nice place to visit like the night Safari. i would love to go to Thailand and China too but they'll have to come after Singapore. wink [secretbear]
of crouse china ,china is a very big conutry ,who has a vast land and many beautiful places! [YONGNIAN1987]
i have been to all three countries...haha. i used to have a thai gf, a singapore ex-wife and now my wife is a chinese national. i am a singaporean and now i frequently spend most of my time in china. comparing the 3, i would prefer china, thailand and singapore the least. however, thailand is a bit risky to go at the moment becuase of Political unrest and protests on the road. so my advice is to stay clear of thailand until things clear up. for singapore, it is just another urban city-state which is fast losing its culture and traditions. it give up its unique identity and choose to remain on the front in pursuit of modern landscapes and values. i find living there no longer as enjoyable compared to the past. i would not advise u to travel. what u can get there is security and a clean place to visit. it have not much of scenery. it highests hill is about 200m above sea level. it is going to have 2 casinos built on the small island. apart from that, i believed, what it has on the island, it is not diffiuclt to find in your country. i would encourage you to go to china. the great wall itself is a must visit place to appreciate the greatness of mankind and king qin. there are so many provinces u can go to. i have been to hangzhou, shanghai, beijing, fuzhou and chongqing and i enjoyed them all. try visit china and enjoy the histroy of chinese. it is worth a visit. [chiaeugene]
For a longer trip, like a month or so, I recommend China. The cultural experience is diverse and really, really gratifying. There's just a wide array of choices for you. Singapore is for shorter trip. It's like a one-stop shop of cultural mix of Chinese, Malay, Indian (and maybe the other Indochine cultures as well). [lizavm]
