Swimming In The Sea Or In A Pool

What sort of water do you like to swim in? My favorite is from a white sandy beach on a palm fringed island. In the tropics the water can feel delightfully warm. I love to go snorkeling around a coral reef and see brightly colored fish. I only like swimming in the sea when the water is calm, with high waves and in rough water I can get scared. Where have you been swimming that you especially liked? A calm bay A tropical lagoon A pool by a cool waterfall In high waves In a rough sea In a freshwater swimming pool in a seawater pool off a beach

god creat sea.so it is sea. [kiranrock]
The sea is great because it is so natural and it is lovely that you think of its creator. [maximax8]

The only place that I could swim is in a pool. I can see what is all in the water. I do like beaches, but I rarely go to them. I will never swim in a lake, sea, waterfall, lagoon or anything that looks deep. I am very very partiicular about where I allow my body to swim in.. It is great that you are comfortable with swimming in many areas.happy [cream97]
That sounds like fun! I would love try it but I am very scared of anyting coming to bite me on my leg or any part of my body.. I have always thought about it, but I can't swim. [cream97]

but god is great than sea. [kiranrock]

Well if its water, I will be in it!! I love the ocean and I love to swim in pools...I guess I like pools when I just want to float around or swim laps for exercise...then I prefer the calmness of a pool...Otherwise I prefer the beauty of the ocean...waves or no waves..doesnt matter,,,I love to jump in the waves..Just this summer I lost my footing and got really tossed around by the waves.thrown about and cut both my legs on gravel and scraped my arms...I have no fear of water...Later in the same summer, i tore a ligament jumping in the waves..the sea can be cruel, but it will not defeat me..I have a great respect for all its beauty. I prefer swimming in the sea. Many of the beaches that I have been to in my own country aren't a very good place to swim. There are many jellyfish and a lot seaweed, and the water is often very cold even in the middle of summer. I still go swimming there sometimes, but I usually don't stay in water that long, because it is simply too cold. When I was living in Italy I often went swimming in sea, and the Italian beaches were better than the beaches in my own country, so I really enjoyed swimming there. [Porcospino]

I have to say that although I do love to be submerged in the water, and swim, I get a little scared swimming in the sea, especially even if I feel a slight current. I have never been to a coral reef before but I think it sounds amazing and I will definitely do it one day for sure. I think from your list, the most appealing place to me would be the pool by a cool waterfall, it sounds beautiful [UK_Shree]

At the moment, unfortunately, we have had quite a few shark sightings on Australian beaches, and there have been a couple of encounters within the last week with one poor Navy officer losing a hand and possibly a leg (they think he may have to have it amputated this week). It frightens me enormously, as my son is a surfer and tends to use the beach at dawn or dusk - the most dangerous times - and also on unpatrolled beaches. Apart from walking along the shore and getting my feet wet, I prefer to swim at home - our pool is heated to 30 degrees and I have a good view of what's in the water with me! [guybrush]

I cream97, has to agree 100% with this comment! That is exactly why I never set foot in water that I can't see.. No offense, maximax8.. I am just very cautious and skeptical of something coming out of the water to attack me. I am so sorry that this had to happen to this man..sad [cream97]
This comment is referring to the statement to guybrush. I accidentally wrote another response.. This response was supposed to be added to what guybrush wrote.. [cream97]

It really depends where my family wanted to go. But if I am to choose I want in freshwater swimming pool. I feel relax and very clean in it. I enjoy it better than in the sea. [izathewzia]

I am definately a pool person. I do like the ocean and live right at it but I don't like not knowing what's under my feet, and don't like the feeling of the sand moving under my feet.. In a pool, I know when the water is gonna get deeper, and I know what's under my feet at all time. [Jae2619]

If I knew what a beautiful sandy beach and a tropical water felt like im sure i would agree. From what ive experianced I would deffinatly prefere pools, they tend to be warmer and alot cleaner! Cold sea water isnt worth all the effort of trying to clean all the sand away! hehe [Pixrawr]

A pool with a cool waterfall tumbling into it sounds great to me. I love the clear turquoise waters of a tropical island, with gentle waves creeping up the white sand. Warmer water is great too... far from the icy cold waters of Britain, eh, my friend? I've never seen a coral reef for real, but I've seen them on the television and they sure are beautiful. All those different colours shining up through the clear water, is a miracle of nature. Brightest Blessings. [Darkwing]

I do like swimming in a pool doing laps, but for fun I adore the sea, jumping the waves with the children, and having a great time [amanda333]

hi! i am a person who loves water. i really do not know how to swim but the mere fact that my body is soaked in water i dont care whether it is in pool or in sea. i just enjoyed the moment that i am in water. i like the feeling that small waves are running over my body. i feel comfortable too feeling the cold breeze is touching my face. its so wonderful! [roselynm1023]

Hi maximax8! I think i would really love to bathe under a waterfall, swim in a lagoon. I do enjoy having my feet wet on the shores of the beach and will love to go snorkeling. I do enjoy the waters even though I really can't swim! lol Take care always my friend! Celebrate life! lovelots..faith [faith210]

I love swimming anywhere. Probably the least enjoyable for me now is in rough water with strong undertow, and disturbed sand thrown up by the breaking waves. At present my daughter's small pool and spa is just perfect. Have a great day, max. Planning your next trip yet? [mipen2006]

If the water is crystal clear and calm, I love the ocean. I love the salty water and the gentle sway. My only problem with the ocean is if I can't see what's headed my way. The closest beach to me is on the Atlantic ocean and the water is very murky and you can't see your ankles if you are standing in knee deep water. That kind of freaks me out. I love the waters in the Caribbean though. I like pools and they are great with the kiddies, but for me the ocean and a nice white sandy beach are so calming and soothing. Ok, makes me want to hop a flight or snag a boat and head to a warm sunny beach right now. [aprilj1231]

I think given the choice I would rather swim in a pool. I have swam in a lake or river, but I'm always worried about what is under the water. I have been to the ocean 5 times and not once went in past my knees. I like to be able to see what is under neath me. [tracie1758]

i grew up near the beach.. so i really love to swim in the sea. but when i was almost drown, i got this phobia and i never ever attempt to swim in the sea. i would rather swim in a pool but still i will never go far from the side of the pool. i am still afraid. sad [hornetlover]

I just love the water, I think it is my element. I haven't try scuba diving yet, hopefully I will experience that someday soon. It will be amazing. I love swimming in the pool since it is not salty and also it is safer and there would be a lesser chance of me getting drowned ... LOL ... I'm not a great swimmer and also if I swim in the beach I tend to not notice that I'm in the deep part already =) [brew2x]

We don't live by the beach, so most of the time we go to swim in a swimming pool. In fact I like to swim in a swimming poo than an ocean as my skin is sensitive. If I stay in the ocean for a while, my skin will be itchy. I need some time to adjust to it. But since my husband and son like the ocean, so I will also like to go to the ocean with them. At least I enjoy picking up the shells in the beach:) I love China [youless]

I'm with you on this one! Warm tropical clears seas all the way for me! Although I do sometimes like some waves to be able to float along in the waves! [frankiecesca]

LOL !! I would have loved to Swim in any of those If I had known how to swim . This is not to say that a 30 + person cannot learn to swim !! Have a great Day ! [ptrikha_2]

As per the view and the beauty i feel sea is much much better its natural its cool but when it comes to i think pool is better because sea water is sater which makes your skin dry while this doesn`t happen in pool. Moreover there is a danger of dangerous fishes and alll... [sachin6606]

i like to swim in the sea especially when it is warm and the sun is setting, such a lovely sight. i have also swam in lakes, waterfalls, and pools but for me the beach is still the best. yes i do agree that swimming in waterfalls do seem dangerous because it looks deep and the ground can be muddy and uneven. and when they say that there have been people who died and got lost in the waterfalls, that adds to the danger. so im more careful to swim in waterfalls. [eabaterina]

Frankly speaking i dont know to swim but if i knew swimming i would swin in the pool beacause its the safe place to swim . [VICKY0687]

I enjoy swimming in the pool. Its nice to know there is chlorine to get rid of the algae. Plus you get to have people around. The pool is indoors so it is warm. [chunijole]

I used to love the beach when I lived in Italy but when we moved to Australia I found it too hot and the sea is a lot rougher than on the Italian Riviera. Lately we have had a few shark attacks as well and that is enough for me to decide to stick to the swimming pool! The places you describe sound lovely though especially the tropical lagoon. happy [paula27661]

i'd to like swim in a fresh water swimming pool...i prefer pools much...im scared of swimming in sea with high waves...im a good swimmer and good slummer...i can dive and swim...i like swimming in swimming pools with 20feet height...i wont get in if its above 25 feet of cool waters , i could be lost if i enter a long sea..thats why i like to swim in pools...thanx...happy mylotting... [gunagohan]

lolFor me I would like to swim in the pool as I think swim in the sea is so dagerous ,hehe .Actually I live in the place which is far from the sea and the beach .I do not have the experience of swimming in the sea ,what I can do is just to imaging .hehe [comeonmolly]

I prefer swimming in a pool rather than in the beach. I actually don't know how to swim but I only love being on the water and walking on the pool. I don't like swimming in the beach because the water is salty and I am a bit afraid of the waves. But I have been to several beaches and I must say that I enjoy being with my friends and classmates. I enjoy playing with the waves and I love making sand castles, that is one thing you can enjoy when you are in a beach because there is no sand in the pool. I have done snorkeling before but I am not use to breathing through my mouth so I never had long time enjoying the view under the sea. Anyway I am happy because once in my life I have tried doing such nature tripping. I wish I could learn how to swim but I must learn first how to conquer my fear and nervousness. [Yori88]

I think a pool is nice if you just want to get out on a hot summer day in order to cool off, but the ocean is so much better. The best are the beaches with clear water and white, soft sand. [abbymartin2009]

I like the beaches. I like to walk on the sand and kick my feet in the water. I also like lakes for waterskiing and wading. But I really prefer a concrete in-ground swimming pool with a diving board. It is even better if it is heated a bit. I like jacuzzi's also. I love to swim and suntan. [royal52gens]

Hi friend, I love swimming very much, and I don't care where [Top_User]

I always preferred swimming in a pool to swimming in the sea, although I still love the sea It's just because in a pool I don't have to worry about getting salt water up my nose or in my mouth or eyes lol [LilyLoretta]

I prefer beach..a sea with calm water. I'm afraid with the heavy and high waves too. I can't swim very well when the water level is in 5 feet above. I like nature that's why I prefer beach instead of artificial, pool. [eighternity]

Yes I think it is much better to swin in a sea but sometimes you have to go swim in a pool because the weather is not good. And some people dont like salt water as well so for them is swiming pool beter.I prefer sea but I dont really care:) [yzedxw]

I prefer to swim in the beach/sea because I love the salty taste of the water. Besides, it's a lot challenging to be in the sea than in the swimming pool. I also have fear swimming in the pool since it's bouyance is not much with the seawater and it's more difficult for me to swim in the pool. [dorisday1971]

since i dont know how to swim i prefer swimming pool but in kids poollol.i know seawater is a lot healthier but i am afraid to swimsad [bombshell]

Well if the water was warm and reasonably clean, I would much prefer to swim in the sea. Swimming pools used to be okay, but now, I find the chemicals used to keep the water safe bring my skin up in a really bad itch, especially below the knees. Your favourite sounds wonderful, but is not very likely for mecool, as I seem to have other priorities on my time and money!ninjacool [dreamhealer]
Didn't see the rest of the question, before, but to answer the end of your discussion, I remember when I was in Malawi, in Africa, swimming in Lake Malawi (I think it was called), must have swam at least a good kilometre is not a mile to this island off the shore. The water was warm and calm, plus it was a good challenge to swim to the island and back! happy [dreamhealer]

Hello my dear maximax8 Ji, I come from a place , where our holy river Ganges flow and I learnt swimimng in running water, so I like that swiming, Off course, I have enjoyed swiming in sea also, but I would prefer swimimng in River/swimming-pools etc. may god bless you and have a great time. [maygodblessu44]

Shallow and calm sea waters sorrounded by coral reef and colored fish - and no sharks!!!!!! [DEVONECO]

I still like to go swimming in the sea even if its the side of it only. But i also want to swim in a pool which is warm. If the swimming pool is cold, i cannot stay longer specially when you know that people there is peeing the water and it is not clean anymore. I have not tried snorkeling but it will be fun to try, and i also like to try water skiing and to motor boat drive. [jajohn]

Hi Maximax, I grew up by the shore so I would have to say that I prefer swimming in the ocean. I love the smell of the salt air and the fell of the ocean breeze. I also like the ocean a little rough with large enough waves to go body surfing. We used to do this as a kid when our parents took us to a beach in Rhode Island. We would swim out and wait for the perfect wave and then get on our bellies with arms stretched out in front of us and kick our feet until the wave picked us up. Woo Hoo! we were Surfing all the way to the shore. We got right up and headed back out. By the end of the day we had that nice soft ocean sand every where you can think of and a few spots you may not think of. But, boy was it fun! Pools are also a nice place to swim and more relaxing if you have your own. I do not like public pools at all, they are way too crowded and you just never know what you may find. [jsitko]

I like swiming in the pool and the ocean. The last few times I've been to the ocean though, the water has been too rough to get into. At those times it's better to have a pool! [reinydawn]

Salty sea water makes me feel yukky as it is sticky. I like fresh water. A pool can have too much chlorine so I would say a lake. [saffrondallas]

In our city we had beaches here that offers these two worlds. A huge swimming pool of fresh water. Fifteen meters away from the pool lies the ocean floor. It's like hitting two birds at the same stone. I can swim in the pool and swim in the sea too, all in the same day. Things like this all I can say is, Life is good. [reckon21]

These days, it would have to be a swimming pool. I have ms so I can no longer swim in the ocean. Your question brought back memories from when I was able to go to thos white sand beaches and swim in tropical waters; snorkle; body surf. Fun times. [msmargo]

I have swam in the ocean, in the river, in a cold water lake in the mountains that was fed by a cold water well, and a pool. I enjoyed swimming in all these places. I love to swim and if it is water I am happy. When I jumped into the cold water lake I froze when I first jumped in but it gets your body invigorated. After I was in I started to warm up I would say due to the fact of my constant swimming. I absolutely loved it. [sunshinelady]

I swam in the sea very often when I was small, and when I am getting older I swim in a pool. If the pool is in good condition and with good water in quality, I like to swim in a pool too. Nowadays, the pollution is so heavy, I don't want to swim in the sea anymore, if the water is in good quality, of course I will have more fun on a beach or in the sea. [HelloMickey]
