Ok well here is the first Day of me traveling,
I wanted to go the way that I came back last time as it knocks half an hour of the trip. So I asked my Son to confirm the route for me which give him his due he did, so I set of at 9am here which would get me there about 1pm
So I went and I thought well this easy enough, Gissi was in the front as he hates traveling and if I would have had him in the back he would have ran up and down on the seat all the way there and made himself Ill. Anyway I am traveling along and an hour later I thought I was seeing things as I passed a place that was only 10 minutes away from me, I thought thats weired. But I keep going as I had gone the route my Son told me. Well 10 minutes after that I arrive at some Docks and I knew I was not suppose to be there. I ring my Son who does not answer his Phone, so I had no choice but the ring the Man in my Life, first thing he laughs at me as this is the second time I have had to ring him because I was lost. He told me that I had just added an extra hour onto my trip as yes I took the A14 but in the opposite direction and I was only 20 minutes from my Home where I had just left. The Language was not polite, I had been driving an hour and a half and I was back to where I started from and further. Well my lovely Sweetheart carried on talking to me (and laughing at me) till I had calmed down. Then I set of again in the right Direction, my Son had forgotten to tell me that I was suppose to go the A14 and Blondie here did not click that she was heading the wrong Direction. So instead of driving 3 hours I drove 5 1/2 just because I took a different way to what I normally go as it is shorter, well not this time. When I arrived my Son asked me if I had intended to take the Ferry to them, I did not find him funny and gave him a clip round the ear lol. Then all I got to hear is "Now remember you have to go South and not North to Scotland and do not take the wrong A14 and back here, this was from the Kids and my lovely Man
And I still haven't lived it down. So I guess that was a great Start (not)
Well that was my first Day, not bad hey, well I got there in the end didn't I?
Oh and Gissi was certainly not impressed with me hehehehe

Oh, Gabs, you just had a little unplanned adventure, nothing wrong with that. I used to take adventure trips all of the time. Yesterday, hubby did. We had two towns we planned to visit, in slightly different directions. We printed out discussions to go to location A, then location B, but then as we are leaving town, hubby thinks we should go to B first, and then to A. It is not quite as simple as read the directions backwards. We got to the second town alright, but we drove right past the turn off for the road we needed. We were in good company, though. Lol well I am glad I am not the only one well it did my eyes where stinging like mad my Leg got sore and I got tired as I had been up since 5am and I did not get there till 3pm [gabs8513]
Oh my goodness sweetie, I feel bad for you for all that driving but I have been there before myself. I went to go out of town one weekend and I was really tired when I left and I think that I nodded of a few times and then when I relized the placeses around me I was in some other town and didnt know where I was at so I just took my trip there. I am glad that you did make it and Gissi was happy also. cant wait to hear about the 2nd day. Hugs! [hoghoney]

oh gabs, it would have been better if gissi could have driven.lol No really I am the worst person for getting lost that everyone in my family has to right the directions down for me. I'm tempted to say that I've done those things when my partner is navigating, and that's true, but there have been a couple of times in my life when I did it entirely on my own. :) Look at the bright side -- at least you made it there. LOL i know just the feeling. Me and 2 guys were on a vacation and we arrived at the small island, rented a car and yours truly being the driver.....it's just a very small pathetic island, but I have to made more than 10 U-turns and took me more than 1 hour to locate our hotel...but it's funny when i think about it now..you will too, one day...Anyway, the most important thing is that you can spend some time with your son, right? Eh sounds like something I would do and I'm not even blond. Is your wrong turn and adding an extra hour to your trip, like me forgetting where I'm going or why I'm at the grocery store in the first place? Ha-ha poor Gabs! If it makes you feel any better the AA map to Kessingland Suffolk sent us the wrong way off a roundabout last year, we should have took it as an omen and gone home as the site was dreadful. At least you realised!! [rainbow]

I almost did that on the way home from Nottingham , we were going back on to the motorway and I had to ask Jim what direction lol , so we are both a bit thick lol , mind you this was 4 am in the morning and I had been up for about 12 hours so I had an excuse lol , what is yours , I can't read a map either and to be honest pal if Jim weren't with me I probably would have done the same thing , nice to have you back xx [weemam]

LOL! it's nice to know that I'm not the only person in the world that is "directionally challenged" I get lost in my own town! one day I decided that I would go to the next town from my home (which is about 15 minutes away) to buy my hubby's birthday gift... good thing that I took my kids because they had to tell me how to get to the store that I was going to! lol! even though I had been to this store 100 times I couldn't remember the road leading there! my kids will never let me forget "the day mom got lost in her own neighborhood!" Hi Gabs. I'm home again but have been flat out, working long hours since getting back. I've just finished a massive project and felt like a break, so I thought "Gabs must have been up to some sort of mischief while I've been away. I'll check and see. Well- it is a good thing that all of the telephone poles, lamp posts, pedestrians & other obstacles were all well-behaved. You also gave them more of a chance to jump in front of your driving path. Well - next time (I'm stealing this idea from someone else who responded to this topic) BRING A CAMERA. You never know, next time you get lost, you might find some nice scenery to take pictures of. Also, if you see something that's like totally wrong, that picture you take might just get you some reward money. [KrazyKlingon]

What a long journey. Only you could mess things up so Gaby...lol. I'm sorry to laugh but I can almost see the worried and perplexed expression on your face. I'll bet Gissi knew. At least you arrived safe and sound in the end..bet you were both tired. I think it will take a while before you live that one down. I remember once I went to another state to visit my b/f. I arrived ok at his work but wanted to go on to the caravan park he was staying at to rest. He drew me a map but neglected to put several roundabouts on it so I became very confused very quickly. I eventually figured it out by following road signs even though I'd never been there before. Men are hopeless at giving directions. [MsTickle]
