What is it? What is the first item you would put in your suitcase or hand-carry when you start packing for a trip? I would pack skincare items first (yes I know I am a freak!) and I always want to make sure I have every skincare items I need. What about you?

Love to travel, I always feel uneasy and sleepless whenever I am IN for a travel!;) The first things that I'd pack are my most precious shirts that I would, I have to be that my clothes is suitable for the ocassion or place I am going at. I also cannot forget my reading eye glasses and my digicam, to really look more like a tourist!;) I love to read on planes or trains so I grab whatever is the latest of John's thriller books. I think I will pack my clothes at first. They are the most important things for me in a travel. As I need to have a shower everyday and change clean clothes. [youless]
I pack all my underwear plus a couple of extra pairs. I guess the old saying my mother used to drive into us....about being in an accident and having on clean underwear really stuck! So that is what I pack first. [jillhill]

The first thing I always pack is Underwear. Honestly it's like the one thing you should NEVER forget. you know. I usually pack clothes first and then things like skincare and then makeup. I have some natural organic skincare that travels really well. Usually I need to use those items before leaving so it's usually those things that go in last. But I never want to forget to have some clean underwear so that's always the first thing! [raychill]
The first thing I pack would be my topless sandals, the one's called Down Unders, that stick to your feet and therefore have no straps. They are so comfortable. I wear them in the hotel room instead of slippers, which take too much room in a suitcase, and are not as much fun. I like being able to wash the hotel dirt off before repacking them. [drannhh]
Yes, they stick good, but very comfortable and not hard to take off. the first time it feels strange when taking them off, but just read the directions. They will come off good. [drannhh]

Its always my set of clothes which i pack first in my suitcases.The rest of the things later.i give lot of preference to clothings and hence i sit for a while deciding the set of dressess i need to wear in my trip.Sometimes i change my mind in the end and pack some other set of dress and take out the one which i kept in the suit case. I would pack my shaving kit first, I remember once I forgot to pack my shaving kit, while travelling and I had to face lot of difficulties, because at the new place I could not get the desired shaving foam/ cream, blades and after shave lotion. I make a list of items to be taken while travelling and check out the list, before leaving to make sure that I have packed all the necessary items. Good Post! [dpk262006]

Well, if I were travelling abroad, the first thing I would pack is my passport. But otherwise, I would want to bring my digital camera so that I could take pictures of everything I encounter. You can always buy clothes elsewhere if you need to - but a picture says a thousand words! [lazywalt99]

I would pack my kid! Well, not literally, but her stuff would have to go into my suitcase first. Or, at the very least, into a suitcase of her own. I would pack her favorite stuffed cat and Cabbage Patch kid and maybe one or two other things she simply cannot live without. Then the clothes would follow. As far as my packing, I would have to go buy some things that would be suitable for holiday. Perhaps I would buy some of the slinky fabric outfits that travel and wear so well. They never wrinkle and are luxuriously comfortable even on a long car ride or plane trip. They would go into my suitcase first thing after my daughter's belongings were packed. If I could do so, I would smuggle my two cats into my case with me. Well, maybe not into the suitcase, but a carrier of their own so they would not miss their mommy too much! I would pack my toothbrush. I do that because there have been too many times when I have forgotten my toothbrush. So now, just automatically, I always think about packing my toothbrush first. Even if I don't have toothpaste, it's still nice to brush my teeth. [modomains]
