What The Heck Is That Or What I Saw At The Beach

Recently we traveled to the beach for some long overdue R&R. We love driving along the coastal route and viewing the wonderful scenery. The beach also offers up some great things. But, this one had many people stopping and checking it out. One person even gave it a kick with their bare feet and had to hobble off. Check out the photo and tell me what you think it is.

the picture is kinda far away to be able to really see this thing.. from the way it looks its just a rock. not all that rare to find on a beach [tessah]
I love to make people think a bit. Sometimes a picture can make you scratch your head. [ElusiveButterfly]

I looked at the photo and even enlarged it. It looks like a Guinea pig or maybe a large mollusk, but the details are not that good in the photo. Maybe it's one of Darwin's lost experiments come ashore or something. There would've been only way to find out what that was...take it home and eat it. [mrghill]
That is too funny. [ElusiveButterfly]

Yes, it's too far away to see what it really is. Could be a rock, a sponge, part of a buoy, or part of the floating device from a fishing boat's net, or even just a piece of styrofoam.... [jonesy123]
We sat for a long time wondering what it was. Once we realized what it was I had hubby sneak up on it and get a few shots. [ElusiveButterfly]

So how was your trip? Did you go kick it as well? I hope that the weather held for you and that you have returned all refreshed. We enjoyed the little bit we got away (we saw the local rain gardens) and I think it mellowed my attitude a lot. [GardenGerty]
We had a wonderful time. We didn't kick this object. Watching other people's reaction to it was too much fun. [ElusiveButterfly]

It sort of looks like it could be a jelly fish to me. The sand sure is pretty and looks like a nice clean beach so I doubt if it is trash. [tyc415]
It wasn't a jelly fish. It was a nice beach though. [ElusiveButterfly]

it's the link to man's further evolution to a become a greater creature that he is right now. lol! [allen0187]
Nope, I don't think so. But your answer was funny! [ElusiveButterfly]

It looks some type of float that a fisherman, crabber or shrimper might use and it got away. Anxious to see what it is. What beach was this picture taken at? [kimbers867]
We went to New Hampshire. I think it was Hampton Beach. It is not a float. [ElusiveButterfly]

elusive Butterfly the picture is not very clear but if someone gaveit a kick and hobbled off it was not a mollusk or sea creature but probably the top of a buried shelf of rock under the sand. that is my guess anyway as I could not really tell much from the picture.I would have to reason it was very hard what ever it was, but it looks like rock. [Hatley]
It isn't a sea creature. But, I am certain that many did think it was some kind of odd creature that crawled up on the beach to bask in the sun. Not a rock either. That was our first thought when we spied it. [ElusiveButterfly]

Okay, I'm clueless...a pertrified diaper?blink [myklj999]
LOL..nope, not a petrified diaper. [ElusiveButterfly]

I hope you had a great trip,I think it looks like a pototoe but I couldnt see it real well lollollolSo when you going to let us know what it is? Take care and have a great night. [bfarrier1]
I didn't want to post a close up shot of the mystery lump. I thought it would be fun to see what everyone thought it could be before I posted the actual close up shot. [ElusiveButterfly]

Ok butterfly, so you want to be mysterious. Fine. I'll just wait along with everyone else! I'm glad you enjoyed your getaway though. It looks like a nice beach. I'm kinda jealous cause I haven't been near a beach in about 2 Summers. No one wants to go anymore. I'll just have to wait until I go to Florida in about 2 months. I think we'll be checking out the local residential real estate near the beach. Hopefully I won't get blown away in a Hurricane! [Opal26]
Hurricanes are what keeps me from moving south. [ElusiveButterfly]

Hi Elusive. So glad that you guys got some R & R. I too, enjoy a drive along the coast, especially in one of the luxury American cars. There is something so very relaxing about driving along seeing the endless in/out of the waves, with just fishing boats out in waters. As for your picture, I can't see it very well, but I wonder if it is a small piece of sea sponge? But then again, a sea sponge wouldn't have caused the kicker to have to hobble off. I am stumped! Surely you will post the answer?! [crazynurse]
Not a sea sponge. I will post the answer soon. [ElusiveButterfly]

Hello Elusive :) I believe it to be either the head or the buttocks of an alien lifeform that is buried in the sand. That can be the only logical explanation. [Transdisc]
Buttocks! Too funny. I got a good laugh from that one. [ElusiveButterfly]

First off I hope your mini vacation went well, and that you had fun and some much needed R&R. As for that thing. It looks like something from outer space, it even looks like it has eyes and a mouth, spooky. Ok, what the heck is it? [Polly1]
Not from outer space. But, who knows, aliens may have this in outer space too. [ElusiveButterfly]

Umm... A dinosaur egg? I don't know it looks like a huge egg of some sort. Did you get closer to find out what it was? [baileycows]
My hubby snuck up on the mystery lump for a closer shot. I am posting it soon. [ElusiveButterfly]

I am not sure! maybe a bundle of waste they just leave behind. I am so glad it is not a bomb! LOL! [everlasting]
It was not a bomb. But, it was left behind on the beach. [ElusiveButterfly]

Hi Elusive I will take a look at the Photo and I will respond in the Photo Hope you are better Hugs [gabs8513]
Not to bad I am glad that you are dong better [gabs8513]

Well, I can't see it very well either, but I did have an experince at the beach 2 weeks ago that left me hobbling. I'm going to say it's a cactus because that's what I stepped on that made me hobble away. [reinydawn]
Oh it sure did hurt! But we laughed about it too! [reinydawn]

I think it's a piece of a washed up coral. Happy Monday, Elusive! [howellslj]
Maybe next time ;) [howellslj]

To me it looks like it could be some type of rodent, maybe a rabbitglare. I see eys and a little nose. [Linda4ualways]
Not a rodent, but seagulls would enjoy it if it were in smaller pieces. [ElusiveButterfly]

Mini-sofa~~~~ looks like a ball someone just took it to the beach and forgot to take home. [Lazysheep]

I honestly thought I commented on this article. I know on gather I guessed a potato. I think it is either a potato or a small loaf of homemade bread. Maybe I'm just hungry after making some bread in one of those home breadmakers. LOL [villageanne]
Thanks for the Best Response. :) [villageanne]

ohh i directly came to the response page . now i dont know how to go back..ill see the pic and tell u.. [cyberkunal]

A child of Nessie's that swam a loooong way! No not really, it's very hard to make out, looks like it has a beak or snout of some type at first I thought it was possibly a baby seal or piglet but with what looks like a beak that wouldn't be...of course if it's a snout it could be, but then it wouldn't be enough to hurt someone enough to hobble off. I would go with something Metal in that case. Whatever it is I hope it wasn't alive because I would think people so cruel to kick an animal. [sagesunicorn]
HAHAAHAHA! I'll just bet he did or if he was really Smart he would just hold it over her head and blackmail her with it for the rest of her life!!! (I would)!!!! (Evil aren't I)??? lol [sagesunicorn]

It looks like a disposable nappy that has been used and disposed of. How awful. [MsTickle]
