I drive my wife crazy, I wait until the day we are leaving or at least a couple of hours before we go. She already has everything packed, including her toiletry items and her favorite Sent From Heaven Scents. I hate packing everything up 3 days before, I need half of the stuff I wear so I don't want to pack it if I'm going to need it before we gas up and head out. I don't mean to boil her blood but I just don't see the need to pack until the day we leave. Who's on my side? Anyone? Can I get a witness?

I'm so lazy that I'll often just leave a lot of stuff packed and live out of my bags for awhile. When I know that I'm going to be taking a trip, I might have some things packed the day before (or even several days before--if I've even unpacked them in the first place from my last trip) but will be using them in my place just as if I'm using them in a motel. I always remember to bring one of my spare wake up alarm clocks. You can never count on the front desk to call!! So... In other words...packed! My trips have been in my own vehicle, so there's no special way to pack them for security. Just so long as I can take them into whatever motel with me when I settle in somewhere is all that matters. I think that I would drive BOTH you and your wife crazy! [AJ1952Chats]
I would be packing as I go at least 3 days ahead of time, as I would be deciding what to take with me. There are however the last minute things the night before and the day upon leaving. Although with my job I'm away every weekend, so I have to pack up on Thursday for Friday. And I do take a lot of things with me, just for one weekend. [irishmist]
If I am going away I will pack the night before. That way I can make sure I won't need anything thats packed away. [chapcity]
If I'm going for more than 2 days I normally pack 2 or 3 days ahead of time because then i can decided if i need to wash a certain outfit and make a mental list of what i want to take. I start by just deciding what i want to take then doing laundry. 2 days before things start going in the suitcase. 1 day before i add or remove things according to the weather forecast. I don't see how my boyfriend cant feel rushed when he packs the day hes leaving. Then complains because hes forgotten this or that. If i go for over night or 2 days I tend to pack the night before I leave. [saundyl]
apparently my picture i was uploading popped up here sorry! I was trying to load it to interests. [saundyl]
Must be a guy thing. Mine not only waits until the last day to pack but he doesn't unpack from our arrival until well after I have already completely packed for our departure. This summer, we got to our location in April and yesterday I found his suitcase in the foyer. He had covered it up with some other things of his. Finally I stumbled over it one time too many and picked all the things up until the suitcase was in view, and said "What is this?!" He smiled me the cutest smile and shyly said, I haven't unpacked yet. It is halfway through July ferevinsakes. We are starting Home again in less than two weeks. You think I am siding with you, rflmao? Dream on! [drannhh]
Oh, all right :-) Have fun! [drannhh]
Since I am working its impossible for me to pack days in advance. I start my packing a few hours before leaving for a holiday. I also dont see any purpose of packing days in advance because I too need all the stuff to use everyday. [mayka123]
I usually pack the night before or hours before my trip but have a list of what I need to pack so that I won't forget anything. [tapeovermylips]
Yup, I'd wait until the last minute, only that I'm driving no-one crazy, as my husband and I leave packing till the 11th hour. However, if we are going overseas, then it's a little earlier (like 3 days before) - just in case we need to bring some stuff that we may not find or don't know where to get in other countries. [lazeebee]
A shot holiday and I'm packing 2 to 3 hours before I leave home. Anything longer than that , I start packing the night before. However always get to complete it only 1 hour before I leave. There is always something that I've forgotten and have remembered at the last moment. [alokn99]
Oh gosh, I pack at the last second. I always do! I hate to pack and I always seem to be doing laundry at the last second so my clothes can go in the suitcase nice and clean. My husband is the one who has a fit about packing ahead of time. lol I end up leaving a mess on my bed where I did the packing, deciding what and what not to pack in their. lol [schulzie]
I just dont belive inpacking week before. infact I so packing just a few hours before because it gives me enjoyment. I also belive in not packing all the materials. instead of it i like to buy materials from the place where i m going. [prp_amt]
Welcome to myLot. Interesting, buying the things you need once you get there, I like that. [gitfiddleplayer]
poor gitfiddleplayer you are just like my husband used to be, he saw no reason to pack early ,just do it on the day we are leaving.Sorry I am on the female side, you should do it earlier as on the day you leave you and everyone else is all excited and thats when you guys usually forget to pack what you wanted to take the most.why not let your dear wife do this for you as she willnot forget your important things. lol [Hatley]
Oh ho ho! She would leave me with an empty suitcase! [gitfiddleplayer]
For going on a vacation I usually pack one day before the journey because I tend to forget some essential items. If I pack early,I get time to recollect and think the possible required stuff for the journey that i might have missed to keep in my travelling bag. [Daffodil20]
Thanks Jeff for the correction.I am going to replce it right now. [Daffodil20]
I pack the night before except for anything I might need and that gets packed within an hour or two of leaving. Now my husband is like you. He always waits til a couple hours before and packs. It used to drive me a little nuts but I am used to it now and he always gets done on time so it's all good. There are always a bunch of things that both of us have to wait until that day before it gets packed. I do clothes that I know I want to take that I won't be wearing but all else has to wait. He waits on everything. [Ruthep]
Well you have good points. Why pack the things you will still need to wear. But I understand your wife, she just would not want to cram because last minute packing could really drive us crazy. It's very tiring and stressing. And beside you tend to forget so many things when you do it the last minute. I understand the both of you, because I also had such kind of experience. Well the best solution is perhaps to go ahead packing all the necessary stuff but leave half of the stuff still needed and you just tell your wife not worry coz you will take charge of the packing of those stuff. [salonga]
I am with you. If we are leaving very early in the morning, I pack the night before. Then just throw in the things I needed to leave out. If we are leaving later in the day, I pack the morning we are leaving. My mum used to pack half an hour before she was going somewhere. [Goodie123]
I will pack the night before that way I have some time to relax a little before leaving. [howard96h]
I'm really bad about waiting to pack,I usually wait until right before i go just in case i need something. [eachen2002]
I see that you are in Colorado Springs, CO. I'm in Breckenridge, CO. I love seeing the mountains every morning. Cool to know about another Coloradian. [gitfiddleplayer]
When I go on holiday, I usually pack my clothes, my Music CDs, my favorite books, my digital camera and my mobile battery charger. These are the basics but I do however pack other things depending on where I am going to spend my holidays:D [excellence7]
i generally like to fib=nish every pending thing well before end time. genearlly may b we start oacking say before 2 weeks, if we are going for long stay, its sometimes more early than this. [subha12]
i normally pack 3 hours before leaving the house or just one hour before leaving the house, i like to cram.. lol [ivylrc]
Well I usually pack a day before I travel because as you said half the stuff I wear is on that bag. Also since I always travel lite I just pack all the things I need and of course it wouldn't take that long right? [magojordan]
10 minutes tops. Shirts and shorts, that's about all I've got. [gitfiddleplayer]
I seem to pack so regularly that it's such a chore. When we're driving country to country then I start in advance as we've got tonnes of space in the van and need the time to pack it effectivley. If we're just taking a trip then I tend to do it at the last minute and am likely to still be shoving last minute items into my handbag as we're locking the door. [GreenMoo]
I'm with ya! I don't pack until the day before embarking on a trip, I hate digging things back out--I then end up forgetting them! That being said, I do usually make a list and start stacking things in one spot for the packing endeavor...but just don't actually 'pack it up' until the day before.~~ [riverfolk]
As someone who has ended up in New York without pants after having forgotten to pack them thumbdown I am certainly not on your side! I don't pack far ahead, but usually the day before. I make lists and I check them twice just like Santa Claus and by the morning we're ready to leave, everything is already packed. Saves a LOT of stress. [katiedoubleu]
same here. When I plan to go anywhere I check roughly one week before I want to leave whether something I want to take with me needs to be washed or bought. I will pack one day before I leave no sooner. Precisely I will do so the evening before I leave. [book1962]
lol...I'm not on your side with this one...but I'm sure my husband will be on your side. We have the same argument all the time before we travel. I want to pack early and he waits till the very last minute to do it. I now solve the problem by packing mine and the kids' stuff early and then either let hubby pack last minute or help him do it if he tells me what stuff he needs. Might be double work but atleast I'm relaxed when we leave. [SViswan]
I usually have to drive, so that probably my punishment. I'm the limo driver and the DJ! [gitfiddleplayer]
I make sure I have everything washed and ironed ready and usually put in most things the night before and then pop wash bag etc in in the morning. If I forget anything I can always buy when I get there. I don't stress over it at all. Ellie :D [ellie333]
yawnYeah am soo lazy i always do the packing previous night, and try not to forget even a single thing. [ramyashreesk]
Oh no, I can't pack the day I am leaving since that would mean staying up all night...I am usually on red eye flights. I pack at least 2 days before and I pack with a list because I tend to forget stuff i really need or want. Anyway, I normally pack the Clothing I need, shoes of course, and books and more books plus my camera and necessary stuff liek toothbrush, toothpaste etc - yep rather walk with my own than buy them for some higher amount elsewhere. [gtdonna]
Hey there, gitfiddleplayer. It sounds like you and your wife have some real differences in how/when you prepare for a trip. To me, as long as your late packing isn't slowing down the process (i.e. that you are late leaving because of your late packing), it doesn't seem like there is anything wrong with it. Now, if you are forgetting things because you are in such a rush to complete packing so you can walk out the door, I guess that could be another problem. However, you didn't mention any real problems with that either. The fact is, some people can pack very quickly and not forget anything. While others start a few days in advance and still manage to leave behind something important. Guess I am on both your sides, gitfiddleplayer. Take care. [PearlGrace]
lol. my dad gets upset when i do that too. my sibblings and i usually pack a day before we leave. i can however pack a few days beforehand but my sister and i share the same luggage so i have to wait for her to pack up all her things in because she is a terrible packer. lol. but, eventhough i have to wait for my sister to put in all her clothes in the bag, i usually have most of the things i need prepared or set aside. [katbalu102]
i am very lazy person.... i never do any thing in time ,i usually pack my bags at last moment....i some time pack my bags a day before i leave or 3 to 4 hrs before going out....my parents usually scold me for my laziness but i just cant pack my bags early............ [utkarshkumar]
I am late with everything. But itīs strange,I am always in time when I am ready [Lucky_strike]
I am on your side man. I usually start packing only with two hours left and I usually tend to forget something when packing. That is my way of doing things and I really dont bother [pkraj111]
Hi I do a lot of travelling and the last thing I do before I leave is to pack - takes me 5 - 10 min - and thats in my opinion more than enough! (Done it for years and years) Of course I make sure that all of my clothes are clean the days before leaving and ready to be the lucky ones to go with me. I guess packing what to bring/ not to bring has to do with our mood. I dont like planning much and when it comes to packing I guess you understand how I have raised my daughter too LOL. So say hello to your wife from Norway and tell her that sorry but I have to stick with your way of doing it...... [casira]
My husband does the same thing and it also drives me crazy. I at the very least start packing 3 days before I leave. The last time my husband packed for a trip he forgot so many things and did not have enough clothes for his entire trip. If it works for you packing the night before or the same day that is a good thing. For me it just does not work. I make sure I have an outfit for each day and then a couple more if needed. Making sure I have all my cosmetics, toiletries, and such. Maybe it is just the difference between men and women. [ryzach]
We don't mean to drive you crazy, we just don't know any other way. Women have a lot more to remember to pack than actually pack. Guys just have to remember to pack, we're mostly thinking about the trip and the traffic. [gitfiddleplayer]
I use to be a last minute Packer and it really was quite stressful on everyone especially when you have to catch a ride or a plane and there is the strong possibi;ity that you will be late. I have always managed to catch my ride but i was really a drag on everyone's nerve even if we were using private transportation. Everyone would be packed and ready go waiting just to get into the car or their Cars and roll. Everyone is excited to leave on the trip but after waiting for someone for almost an hour, the excitement usually dries up and soon everyone is just feeling impatient to leave. So now i pack at least a day ahead of the trip and i also make use of a list prepared in advance as to what i need on the trip and what i should pack. This ensures i don't forget anything. I can't side with you . I can sympathize with your wife. Look at it from her point of view and stop getting on her nerves whenever you go on a trip. Be more considerate. [acevivx]
I pack the night before or the morning of the day I leave. I usually keep a bag packed with shampoo, some candles or air purifying fragrance, deodorant etc so that is not an issue. I am not a high maintenance person so my packing is pretty easy. [Debs_place]
Well I like to pick up things before one day but sometimes I forget things when I pack and go, so it is good to list the things you have to pack then start pack before one day, it is ok. [alkurishy]
I pack about a week before we leave. I am usually so excited that I have to start packing things as soon as possible. I am on your wife's side lol sorry. [travibabiesgirl]
Hi gitfiddleplayer, My wife also likes to pack three or four days before we leave, but like you I also like to wait until at least the night before. There was a time when I would get the same reaction, but we're both more relaxed about things now. Blessings. [Pose123]
Hi friend, I like things to be done in systematic manner. If i go on vacation, firstly i will write on a piece of paper as what i should carry with me as per the days i stay there.I do this 2 days before we go.The next day i will pack all the things and be ready to go for the next day,so that we can happily move from our house without any irritation on anybody.I would be enjoying in doing that.I think it is the best way to approach. Have a nice day.............. [sudhajosyula50]
Well, I usually pack a day before the trip to be sure I don't miss anything I need for the trip. Sometimes I put in the pack little by little a day before and I have a list of important things to take with me. Well, I also understand your point. Keeping all the things packed including the stuff you still need is also annoying. But the point maybe of your wife is not to miss anything because the tendency when you pack the day you leave, you will miss many stuff that you need. I experienced that many times that is why I want to pack earlier. [celestial052506]
If I have to pack for the children too, then I will start planning and packing a week before we leave! If it is just me going, then I can pack a few days before, but like you said, I need my favorite clothes to wear so it may be the same day I leave before I am completely done! [olivemai]
Hi , Well, usually we pack the night before , and that is thanks to my fiance . Usually I will have an idea of what we will be taking on the trip .The night before we will take an hour or 2 to gather all things . Heck , I am even still packing in the morning all my Beauty things . Some how , and some way I always seem to forget something lol [metschica25]
I too like to wait at least the night before taking off, if we leave in the morning. If we leave in noon or afternoon, I pack in the mornings. I really don't like packing, no matter how long before packing, there will be something left behind lol Happy mylotting and have a nice day! [ucancallmedissy]
Me i do the same, well more or less.I just sorta throw a few things in a bag/case,maybe even one day before.Anything i forget i buy when i get there. On time my mother refused to go on holiday cos my dad did got give her enough warning..6 months !! lol [LoudnProud]
Its been a while since i did any packing but I used to pack ... & then gradually take stuff out over the course of about a week - and, obviously, the thing I most wanted to wear when I got there would be something I'd taken out! [Wizzywig]
Hahaha! What's a vacation or holiday??? I haven't been on one in decades! I think it's a "guy thing". Typically, it is the wife who thinks of the things needed other than personal things, like medications, bandages, antiseptics, etc. WE need to begin thinking of these things, and packing them, well in advance of the day we set out! But, in your defense, I believe your way of doing it is quite typical of the male species! So don't fret... you're normal. [mentalward]
This year we can't go on vacations. We got a new Kitchen and windows so the money isn't there to go. But when we go we go with our caravan. I start packing a few days before we go. It's easy with a caravan becaurse you can take all you need out off your home strate into the caravan. No suitcases to fill. Like all Dutch I like to take a lot with me and with the caravan that's no problem. [Raissa1967]
I pack in waves. Things I know I won't need for a while, I pack first. Things I need less often are the next things packed. And finally towards the departure time, I pack everything that I use on a daily basis - like toothbrush and contact lenses. I also always make a list - with every single thing I might need in detail, otherwise I know I'll forget something. [kenzie45230]
I usually start thinking about what I'm going to pack a few days before I'll be leaving, so that I can make sure to do laundry for any items I need to take. Then once the laundry is done, I'll usually start setting that clothes aside so I don't wear it before I leave. So I also usually pack a few days before I leave for a trip. [scarywhitegirl]
I normally pack about 2 or 3 days before but only normally becuase on the day we go we always have so much to do such as getting the dogs to the Kennels and making sure we have everything so I couldn't do it last minute and also I never am normally off until then so if I left it until that day I wouldn't have enough time! x [frankiecesca]
I will not pack until the night before leaving! However, I prepare a list of outfits that I will need to put in the suitcase. I always keep a toiletry bag (fully loaded) in a separate carry-on tote bag. If I put the clothes in too soon, they will get wrinkled. Even if a hotel has an iron, I don't want to have to use it. The only thing that gets put in ahead of time are underwear, footwear, and sunhats. My husband always packs 3 days ahead of time! [JanetBRudman]
I hate packing days before also, my family always insist on packing like 4 days before we leave...i usually pack everything i dont need for travel day the day before and then just pack the rest right before leaving. [lostfan01]
Sounds like a plan. I use to live in Pompano Beach, FL. I miss the beach, kick some sand for me. [gitfiddleplayer]
I remember going over to Korea for 2 weeks for my brother's wedding... I had 1 duffle bag & 1 suit cover... Took me 1 1/2 hours to pack the entire thing... My girl firend was going away to the beach with her parents for 3 days & she started packing 4 days before the trip & by the time she left the house, she had enough things packed up to live somewhere in the woods for 4 years... Vacations are the same with us... She hates it because all I have to do is get up on the day we're leaving & the time it takes us to load up the car with her stuff, I can pack enough for me from the scratch... She's got the trunk of the car packed away & here I come out with 1 little dinky duffle bag & my beach towel under my arm & I'm completely ready... [sk66rc]
There is no sense in packing days before you leave for your trip. You are right, you will probably need what you pack and then you'll just have to pack all over again and hope you don't forget anything. Like your toothbrush- you remember to pack it 2 days before, take it out the day before to brush and then forget to put it back. Now you're on vacation with no toothbrush!! It just makes better sense to me to pack at the earliest the evening before you leave. Waiting until the day of is cutting it close though! [falconjetter]
Welcome to myLot. I love to live on the edge! [gitfiddleplayer]
It depends...if it's only for two days,i would pack the night before the trip.I use to start with the kids stuff and my stuff.I could start a few of my husbands things like undies and shirts. And have a few last minute packing on my husbands things. But if it's vacation (to the Philippines)i start packing once a flight has been reservedlol.Sometimes i make list for the last minute packing. [misty99]
i usualy pack three days before the vaction or holiday, and i usually make a list to go along, one year i forgot alot of stuff and had to spend extra money for getting what i didnt pack. so the list helps me alot [WANDALIE44]
that would drive me bonkers im glad im not you wife i think i would have too bring out the skillet and hit you over the head lol being prepared is always good so i think you should pack at least a few nights before i am into preparation so you are not rushing and u dont leave anything behind!!!!!!!!!! [jesus777]
I'm pretty quick, better not miss me. [gitfiddleplayer]
if the travel is being planned i have to ready things that i needed to bring to be sure i didn't left anything...., but when it is emergency travel i have to take those important things just a split of minutes. Its really a matter of thinking what u needed to bring that u commonly use during travel. if u bring all things its great u made it but if u forgot lots of things then u should follow whats your wife is doing before the travel. [cil2008]
I'll be a witness!!!..I don't like to pack until the last minute. I don't like packing early, because most of the things I'll need before we leave, like toiletries and stuff. So yeah I'm on your side....I'm a slow packer...sometimes tho, I surprise my husband and I'll have it all ready when its time to go. [walijo2008]
Our family usually leaves right in the morning so i usually pack the night before even though i wish i would pack like 3 days before so i can rest right before we leave because I am always delaying it off till the last possible moment. [irishrule812]
I normally start off with making a packing list, a week or two ahead of the trip. I start packing usually about 3 - 4 days before we leave. I like to get all the laundry done and house cleaned up before I leave on a trip, so I usually do the all the laundry 3-4 days before we will be leaving and start packing as things come out of the laundry, then I don't have to worry about having to wash something the day before we leave. I also do the house cleaning a day or two before we leave, I hate coming home from a trip to a dirty house. However, since I pack for myself and my s/o, if we are both going, then I don't have to worry about him packing at the last minute. That is one thing he has not gotten used to lol, we've been together 3 years, and when we go on a trip, I have it all packed and ready to go, for both of us. He's usually saying things like 'I need to pack.....' and I tell him 'already done' lol [palonghorn]
I can be your witness.I hate to get stuck in packing stuff before a trip. For me, one kitbag is enough. [tyt2222006]
Welcome to myLot. Awesome, thanks. [gitfiddleplayer]
Hello my friend gitfiddleplayer Ji, Well, in my case, I start my packings mentally, the time, it comes to my mind of my plans for my travel. My main aim is not to forget even small item, for which, we may have to compromise later. To give you example, I am to travel on 20th October, 2008, approximately 2700 km. by train. My accommodation has already been done in train. Then I have started making lists of items to be carried along from here and so on. I inculde seasonal items as well/documents/imporatnt corrospondance etc/cloths as per weather. have a nice time. [chintoo07]
I pack the night before the trip.. but things are already laid down to avoid the rush [littlepinoy]
dear gitfiddleplayer, everybody procrastinates! you're not alone. usually i pack the night before and if i need any essentials, i just keep them at the top of my handbag. wwell im on ur side budyy, but i guess everyone has thier own style!!! [lifeisamazing]
Welcome to myLot. I like that I pack right before, its me that will forget something, nobody else. [gitfiddleplayer]
I pack the night before. Usually we have to leave early to get to the airport, so we like to wake up, grab the suitcases and go. We try to travel light, too! [guybrush]
I like to start packing within the week I am going and yes I repack, unpack, repack, I get a little OCD about it...and through all my nervousness of maybe forgetting something...I usually forget something...MAJOR like the phone charger...or even once my checkbook.....UGH you know hting you can't pick up at the rest stop. [taface412]
That is what my husband does. He waits to the last minute. I remember a couple of years ago, we were going on a 4 day camping trip. I was working, he was not. The evening before we were to go, I came home from work, (I had already gotten most of my things together) I found him slouched on the couch watching tv. He hadn't brought any camping equipment down from the attic or gathered his things. I got angry, said something to him, he got angry, bottom line we did not go on the trip. Since he was home all day, why couldn't he get the stuff together? GRRRRRRRR Menangry [sudalunts]
You sound hotter than steamed veggies. Is he still sleeping on the couch? [gitfiddleplayer]
It depends upon what time I have to leave and where I'm going. If I'm leaving before noon, then I'll typically pack clothes and such before I go to bed the night before and plan what I'm going to wear, etc. If it's after noon, then I'll likely just pack when I wake up (which will hopefully be a few hours in advance). However, I would have already planned things a little in advance and have laundry done so that the packing will be easy. When I still lived within an easy driving distance from my parents, I'd spend a week with them in the summer. I didn't really do any packing then. I just piled all my dirty laundry into a couple baskets and off I went. [nerdytina]
I like to pack a couple of days in advance, so I am not rushing around at the last minute, and forgetting things. My mother will pack up to a week in advance for a camping trip. The day before I go somewhere I like to have everything packed except or my computer and cellphone whih I'll use the evening before the trip, and will be sure to pack the next day. [danishcanadian]
My husband always do things on the last minute.I think your almost alike in that aspect.I packed things a night before we leave.Because if we do it on the last minute its possible that there might be some things that we needed that will be left behind. So i guess its better to prepare without any hurry. [msedge]
lol i'm on vacation right now to be honest lol. i'm in florida enjoying the sun. too bad i got sun burn yesterday though, but what can you expect for being on the florida beach in the summer for hours?! lol yeahh i procrastinate with just about everything, packing, homework. everything. so you're not alone lol. [readmystuff92]
I must say I'm on your wife's side because I'm a wife too. There's no winner for family war. And it's the way that men and women deal with things differently. Men like to pack lightly and go faster. Women have so many things to take because they don't have pockets in their t-shirts (just a metaphor). I forgot to pack important items last time because i packed in a hurry. [shinymood]
Welcome to myLot. I can pack in a hurry, that's why I wait, not because I'm beligerent. [gitfiddleplayer]
I pack the night before we leave because I like to do all the laundry and there's always stuff that I'm going to be using up until we leave (bathroom stuff, makeup, etc) so I pack those things the morning of after we're done showering and getting ready. I love packing and the excitement that surrounds vacation time! :) [welikemoney]
I'm doing laundry right now, so I'm packing at the last minute. [gitfiddleplayer]
I only ever pack for a holiday on the day I am leaving. If I was to pack shoes, clothes and other belongings earlier than that, they may need to be unpacked again to use before I go - and then I may forget to repack them. I feel much more organised doing it on the day of departure so I can systematically go through and make sure I have absolutely everything I need. [Piscesmoon]
i usually pack things a week before the schedule. I don't want to be rushed! I want all things that i will need will be packed. I don't want to forget something that i plan to bring. I want all of my things in order. Specially if it's out of the country. [zeny_zion]
Welcome to myLot. Good thinking, I usually just travel within the USA. [gitfiddleplayer]
if it a short trip then i pack the previous night if i am off for a month then two or three days in advancee and i also keep a check list so that i dont forget anything.. [nupats]
I packed when its time to fly... [asawakomahalko]
I have never gone on a real vacation. However, when doing trips as a kid I did it both ways. Sometimes I was packing as the horn was beeping! But now that we are planning our first vacation, I have been trying to start thinking of the things needed to pack already and it is six weeks away! Of course I will be packing my husband, me and our two year old son. Here is the tricky part. We are going on vacation with my husbands family. We will be driving from Texas to Michigan in two days (about 21 hours on the road if all goes well which it probably won't with that many kids). There are 11 of us in a 12 passenger van. This means we have to pack on the light side! Plus we will be staying on Lake Michigan which could be warm, cold, or in between... Oh and we are going to a wedding as well [aidenofthetower]
Toss in a museum tour and you should be crazy by the end of it. Have fun. [gitfiddleplayer]
I am like you I need my clothing and the stuff I use daily and so I will wait till the night before to pack some stuff then leave the rest to a few minutes before leaving to gather it up to stuff it in the suitcase or bag. It ticks everyone off that they may have to wait a few extra minutes on me to get my stuff together. If I am taking non-parishable foods I will pack those the night before. [mtdewgurl74]
I like to pack a few days before. I know what you mean about the clothes and stuff, but I've figured out a way to get around that. I like to pack early because I hate to rush and like to know I have everything - I've packed in a hurry before and we've almost always forgotten everything when we've done that! Sorry I can't take your side on this! [vera5d]
I usually pack up the things I don't use daily ahead of time, like a day or so in advance, and then I pack the things I use daily after I'm done using them the day we leave. I might have to get up REALLY early in order to do this but oh well. I don't generally pack way in advance because what is the point? My husband probably appreciates this happy. Also, he's lucky enough that I will pack for all of us, I just check to see if there's anything he needs that I forgot to include. [mommyboo]
When i go for vacation for long then i start packing the things one week before the date of journey, otherwise for short journey one or two days before.I love to travel and enjoy each and every moment. Thanks. [shalu1975]
I don't normally pack until the day or two ahead. [sassygirlanne007]
haha.. I'm on your side, my friend ^_^ Same like u, i dun see the need to pack early since i will still be using my toiletries when i have not even left, and it's so troublesome to keep packing and unpacking just for those things we need in our daily life ^_^ haha [kun2349]
Hello my friend gitfiddleplayer Ji, Well, you will make fun of me, if I tell you that, I am leaving on 20 October'08 and I have already started making list of activities of my move. I would prepare list of documents to be carried/cloths/and so on. i will pack everything a week earlier to avoid last movement hassle and tussle. It is my habit. have a nice time. [chintoo07]
I think I'm with You on this one..lolNormally,I've pretty much still got packing to do at Midnight when I have to Leave at 4am for a 2 or 3 hour trip to the Airport, depending on where I'm going, and which Airport I'm using (I have Belfast and Dublin International Airports that far away from Me,and City of Derry under an hour away for London connections.) It also depends on what I'm going away for..My Brother's bachelor Party was a Snowboarding trip to France,so packing started with buying the clothing about a Month before, and they were first into the Bag...there's always something You remember you need as you're zipping the bag up before going to the car! [ShepherdSpy]
There was this tourist planning a trip to Ireland, and He was asking his Travel agent "Can you recommend What clothes do you think I should I be bringing with Me on my trip to Ireland?" The response was simple.. "ALL of them!"lol (We have a well deserved reputation for Rain,Here!) [ShepherdSpy]
You gots yo self a witness...I'm just like you, I wait to the final countdown clock starts running before I pack, but I'll spend two days washing and waxing the car that we'll be using to get to the airport. I'm not trying to impress the judges when I dress anyway, I just pack what I need and it only takes five minutes and a duffle bag. How hard is it to put a few socks, underwear, toiletries and my ugly party shirt collection into one bag? My wife can be mad if she wants, but she'll be alright once she's had some airplane peanuts. [mrghill]
Well, I am like you. What is the use of packing ages in advance? I get annoyed because I need to use all those packed things. :) I pack just a few hours before setting off. More fun that way. Cheers and happy mylotting [positiveminded1977]
sadly I am a start to pack a week befor kind of girl. [spikelives]
here! here! i also don't like packing things up 3 days before. i do it a day or the night before the departure for the same reason that you have.^_^ oftentimes, if i missed to bring something it's probably because i really did not intend to bring it thinking it will not be of use to me. [blue_thr3e]
I pack most of my things right before I leave too. I'll set the suitcase out a couple days before and throw in things I won't be using before we leave, but especially the bathroom stuff...that goes in the bag as we use it minutes before we leave. Put deodorant on, throw it in the bag. Brush your teeth, throw the toothbrush in the bag, put on my make-up and throw it in the bag... [momalisa65]
I leave everything to the last minute, I work better under pressure! lol I've just realised it's midnight on Sunday and I'm interviewing a band for the first time on Tuesday - I haven't prepared anything at all cry. I love music and I really hope I get the job. I'm going to have to spend the whole day tomorrow working on it; I'm too nervous, can't stop putting it off angry [louise99]
They're called Kid iD, they're from Leeds [louise99]
]Hello gitfiddleplayer. It takes me a week to decide what I want to pack when my husband and I go on a vacation. After I decide what I want I start packing about 2 days before. Now my husband packs all his things the last minute. It dont take him long to pack as it does me.happy [babystar1]
I try and get everything done about a week in advance. That way all I have to do is double check everything the day or night before. It makes things a bit less stressful. [ersmommy1]
Usually when I go on a vacation I make a list of everything I need to pack and then I start packing a couple weeks ahead of time, and I pack everything I can,and after I pack something I mark it off the list, last year me,my brother,my mom,and my grandmother went to the beach, and not only did I make a packing list for me,but I made a packing list for my brother, and it drove him crazy, because I made sure he packed the things on the list,he does not like following a packing list lol. [hellcowboy]
That is true I am sure no brother likes following a list when it comes to packing, and yeah organization is a curse, but I do always try to embrace it,and use it to my advantage, have a great day, good luck in your life, and Happy Posting my friend. [hellcowboy]
^ five my friend, i do the same thing like you. i only pack the night before i leave. night because i usually take the earliest flight the next day. if i am leaving in the afternoon or evening, i'll just pack a few hours before. the only i'll do a few days before will be check that all my reservations are confirmed and passport is still valid. packing my luggage takes at most half an hour so i don't see the need to pack early. also, most things i'll pack are things i use daily, even my radio. packing early just means that i'll be retrieving things from my luggage or forgetting something as i left it in my daily bag. cheers ;p [applefreak]
I love to do it in time but as usual it is always in last minutes of departure and some thing is missed every time. Last time it was my camera. I cant help it much because I am a member of big family having 14 members, all are heavily dependent on each other (nice thing). So to manage 14 members is never easy so, when you cant swim across the stream its better to swim with the stream for survival and camera and thats what I do. [ajayrekha]
i usually pack my things a few hours before i travel. i am more comfortable doing this and i think it also gives me ample time to think about which things i should or should not bring. i hate to check my stuffs before leaving just to make sure that i didn't forget anything. so doing it a few hours before leaving would be more convenient for me. [iamnes]
24 Hours before the departure time. It depends actually. I f I have to go to college or have some other thing to be taken care of on the day of journey, I pack them way before hand so that i do not get rushed up at the end. Or else it's usually 12 hours before the journey. I just pack my bags and keep em aside. I do thins because packing before hand makes me to remember all the stuff that I have forgotten and I find them just before leaving. So packing before hand helps and it has helped me a lot of times.. bournehappy [bournecaindelta]
