Where Did You Go On Your First Airplane Ride

For me, it was in 1987, when I turned 21 and decided to take a trip to Los Angeles to celebrate my 21st birthday. My twin sister was suppose to come with me but her and her partner at the time bought themselves a home so that became first priority. I chose LA because most of my mother's family lived there and an Uncle was getting married so I decided to attend on behalf of our family. It was a fun trip especially when I went to Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, several Watertheme parks, and Universal Studios. I didn't want to leave. At that time the movie "Backdraft" was being screened. I spent 30 days there and enjoyed meeting family that I had never met before and seeing all the sites. So, where did you go on your first airplane ride? Tell me about it w00t

My first airplane ride is when I was 19 and I have to go to Singapore for a training attachment. I was so excited. I travelled with Singapore Airlines which is well known for their good service. The ride was fun, eventhough I am a litle bit worried of fall, because I have a phobia of heights.. My experiences in Singapore for 6 months was great. I got knowledge, experience, lots of fun, new friends and off course I did shopping too.. [afternoontea]
I would love to visit Singapore one day as I too have heard about how wonderful the place is and the things you can do there. I bet the shopping was great too :) 6 months must of been a long time to be away from home. Did you miss home? [maddysmommy]

My first airplane ride that I can remember was when I was 7 and I flew from Pheonix to Chicago to spend the summer with my grandmother. It was a wonderful summer that I will never forget. My first memorable plave ride though was when I was 9 years old in an old bi winged crop duster! It was just over the corn fields of Indiana but it was thrilling as the pilot was experienced and ableto do acrobatics! [Strongheart]
Oh that sounds scary strongheart, being in a crop duster plane and doing acrobatics. I don't think I could do that LOL thanks for sharing! [maddysmommy]

my first was in 1997. i further my study in australia. there is a small place there named armidale, university of new england. mmm my heart is not for busy city, it is for countryside. i still miss that small town almost everyday. if there is anybody out there from armidale australia dont hesitate to message me.. [salam1]
Oh so you went to New South Wales, nice. I only visited Sydney for a weeks holiday when I went with a group of friends to the Police basketball Games they had going there years ago. Busy city alright and has a huge Pacific Island community there too. [maddysmommy]

My first airplane ride happened in 1986 when my dad had to attend a convention in Chicago. My family and I didn't get to see much of the city since the convention was only a few days. We mainly just did a driving tour and went up in the Sears Tower. The early trips with my family weren't as much fun since I was more interested in watching TV than seeing some possibly-once-in-a-lifetime sites. I also have lots of relatives in the L.A. area. The last time I visited there in 2001, I went to Disneyland's (then-new) California Adventure theme park. I got to see a few stage shows and go on the rides. That was actually the first time I'd been on a roller coaster! [jtr115]
Me too, it was my first time even seeing such attractions since I lived in New Zealand, so it was like a dream come true for me. [maddysmommy]

Hi there maddysmommy! The first time that I rode an airplane was when I was sixteen, on my first year of college. We went here to the province of Aklan from Manila. It's really nice because the ride was only for 45 minutes and that's really fast. Since then, I always ride a plane when I'm going to Manila or back here in Aklan except for the one time when we rode a ship because we carried lots of things when we moved including six Computers and some appliances. I was really excited ont he first time and fought with my sisters to get the window seat. Well, I am the oldest so you know who won.:D Another thing is that I didn't know that we now have smileys here. How do you do that?:D [nanayangel]
Everytime you post or reply to a discussion, you will see on the left side "mylot code" in blue, click on that and if gives you the options to add smileys :) they are lots of fun! I know what its like being the eldest of twins but I also had two older brothers so luckily I had never had to fly with them or else I would know that my seat would be the aisle. Thanks for sharing nanayangel. [maddysmommy]

My first airplane ride was when we went to Hongkong. It was a sort an escapade with my other three friends. We stayed there for just four days and spent most of the time shopping, strolling, going to parks, eating and rides. It was a lot of fun because it's also my first trip out of the country. [heart143]
Aww how nice to be able to travel with a group of friends and family to experience another country. One day I want to go there! [maddysmommy]

I took my first airplane ride with one of my three sisters back in 2004. We had seen somewhere where we could go to the local airport and get a ride around town for like 50 bucks. Since neither of us had been on a plane, we thought we'd explore our curiosities. We saw when we pulled up that it was one of those little planes. We giggled that it was another Buddy Holly episode waiting to happen. How a person giggles in fear is beyond me, but I digress. We got on board, the pilot gave us the run-down and off we took. We felt the turbulence and just shot each other 'the eye' of Oh My God! You know it's coming but you just can't actually understand until it happens. Very cool feeling, though. We rode around our city and out into the country, where we grew up, and just looked at everything we'd seen a million different times, but only from a new angle. This was by far one of the most memorable experiences of my life. [aero89]
Oh those small planes give me the creeps LOL glad that nothing happened as I would of been freaking out haha [maddysmommy]

It is nice to know you had a good time..My first plane ride was at the age of 19, in 1981...I flew to Virginia to be with a man that I had met in my home town in Wisconsin..He was in the Air Force and he and my neighbor were on vacation..They were roommates..He sent me a plane ticket and I went...We ended up getting married in March of 1982...Pretty cool huh!! My second plane ride unfortunately was back to my home town to bury my husband.. He died 9 months after we were married...That flight I will never forget... [Feona1962]
sad That is pretty cool flying around with the man you love. I am sorry to hear he passed away not long after though Terry (((HUGS)))) [maddysmommy]

I think that my first plane ride was from new york state to Washington state - unless my father drove us, I really do not recall I was too young. Then we went to California.... the first that I actually remember was traveling to panama canal zone at the age of 4. [Modestah]
Wow from one side of the country to the other, that must of been a very long trip especially if were driven there. I have not visited either places but I hope we get to visit New York one day as it's not too far from where we live now. Thanks for your reply Modestah! [maddysmommy]

lol...my first airplane ride was when I was a little older than a month (if you don't count my trip inside my mother's tummy). My parents were living in Bahrain at that point of time...and my mother went to her mother's place (my grandmother) for her delivery. And she returned to Bahrain when I was around 45 days old. I don't know how she managed it because she was all alone with me and she had to catch two flights. If I'm not mistaken, my uncle (her brother) accompanied her on one of the flights. [SViswan]
We lived in Bahrain till I was 2...then we moved to Kuwait. I think we visited Bahrain again when I was 4 or something....but I remember going to Bahrain to visit friends when I was 17...and then again when I was 23! [SViswan]

I also went to LA on my first plane trip back in '83, I believe. So I was just 8 years old. My family had planned a trip to go to Disneyland and I had asked my mom if we could go by plane and my grandma (maternal) who had overheard the conversation convinced my mom for us to go by plane, even though my mom was scared to death of them. The only other plane trip I have taken was the trip back home. I haven't been on a plane since. [sacmom]
I hope you had a good time in LA like I did. I had always dreamt to visit Disneyland and other amusement parks in LA. Being from New Zealand, everyone talked about Disneyworld and Universal Studios. I hope to take my son there one day in the near future. [maddysmommy]

I think I was about 6-8 years old back then. We are going to my father's province. It's not a good exeperience for me since I vomit during the ride due to dizziness. [reejane]
cry Aww sorry to hear you didn't have a good experience on your first flight on a plane. The only time I get sick and dizzy like that is on long bus rides and sometimes car rides too. [maddysmommy]

Hi Maddy, I was working in another Country many years ago. My boss permitted me to spend Christmas vacation with my family. It was sort of a family reunion after being away for a year. Unfortunately, it was that time of the year when everyone was rushing to fly back to their loved ones. My flight was delayed for 6 hours. I tried to pass the time by browsing magazines, ate junk food until my stomach was screaming that it can't take in anymore junkies. :P The flight flew smoothly except I didn't expect another nightmare waiting for me. Once the airplane landed on our destination, the airport looked like it was in a state of pandemonium. We needed to wait for another 2 hours before we were allowed to step out of our plane. Too many locals and foreigners were lining up to check out of the airport. Again, I need to fall in qeue and waited 8 hours before reaching the custom counter. I was supposed to be home before noon time. I got home past midnight. The most wonderful and memorable day for me, lol! [charms88]
Nah...no sweat, just copy and paste, lol! I made it to the reunion though only enough time to catch a cup of coffee with them. Fun? ha, ha, sure, if you consider seeing me in all my glorious temper a fun, then yes...it is quite an adventure to remember, lol! [charms88]

I think I was 18 when I had my first flight, I went to my mother's province and met some of our relatives there. It'll take for almost a day if I would choose a ship for transport, so I was glad that it only took me 45 mins. to travel and enjoyed every minute of it. After that, I chose the ship and though felt a bit dizzy, I also tried to enjoy the voyage!happy [raijin]
Oh ship rides make me seasick lol The first one I went on was when we traveled between two islands Apia and Savaii and it was only an hour long. Even though I did take motion sickness pills, I still felt dizzy and sickly. Even though Savaii was such a beautiful untouched Island, I was happy to get back home. [maddysmommy]

Well my first ever airplane ride was back in the 70's when I was about 6! My gran her friend and her Grandaughter all went to Canada - that was so exciting as not many people had been on a plane in my school then and if the had it was usually a short trip to Spain! We were visiting my Aunt and family in Windsor, Ontario for 3 weeks and I was amazed by everything! There were huge cartons of milk and it was the first time I had tasted peanut butter! Lots of the family had swimming pools and the weather was amazing! We visited Niagara falls - I was in awe! We went to Detroit too via a bridge one time and a tunnel the other - I was very excited about going to America and even had my photo taken with a border guard - I still have the photo somewhere! Everyone was so lovely and friendly and everything seemed so big and different! It was amazing! Thanks for making me revisit these memories! xxx [mummymo]
My comment section hasn't worked for a lot of months now - I have contacted admin lots of times about it - I even mentioned it to Crash in one of his discussions and he told me it seemed fine to him! Hadn't been on much last week as I had a lot of appointments! Will pm you soon! xxx [mummymo]

I am 27 and have so far never been on an aeroplane. :( I am hoping that my first aeroplane trip will be to Germany some time in the next couple of years. I'm planning to go on a balloon flight this summer but that will be as close as I've been to flying! [pumpkinjam]
A balloon flight? oh WOW now that would be fun to do. happy I hope you do get to travel on a plane one day and if not, the balloon sounds so much more adventurous than a flight on a plane LOL I hope its safe too. My cousin is in London at the moment and is flying to Germany for a job interview. She does quite a bit of travelling and I see the world through her eyes and pictures, so amazing. The Intrepid Traveller :) Thanks for posting and give us an update on the balloon flight, I would be interested in hearing all about that. [maddysmommy]

I forgot what year it was but it was to Bali, with my parents and my little brother, I remember I was still in elementary school, don't remember what grade. My dad flew the plane since he was the pilot and I get to see the cockpit., [ucancallmedissy]
Yes I was lucky. COme to Bali, it's a great place to relax and shop cheap items! Thanks [ucancallmedissy]

This happened to me in 1987. I really wanted to travel and saved up money from my paper round to fly to Greece when I was 14. I went with my mum on a plane that flew from London to Athens. I liked the excitement of taking off an seeing all the buildings, roads and fields look tiny as the plane went higher into the sky. Then it went into the puffy white clouds. It only took three and a half hours to get there. Unfortunately I got pain in my ears before when the plane began descending. When the plane landed my ears really hurt and I went deaf for half an hour. My mum and I took a bus to the port and got on a ferry that went past other pretty Greek Islands. We went to the pine covered fragrant smelling island of Spetse. I liked the traditional White House and blue and white churches. The harbor was pretty and the beaches were a bit pebbly. I was swimming in the sea and there were many clear jellyfish in the water. Luckily they were harmless. We explored Athens, the capital city, before flying home again. I liked to see the Acropolis and the views from it over the city. The architecture was quite stunning and it was great to buy some souvenirs. The weather was a very hot and dry. I came home after a heavy delay at the airport with sun burnt shoulders. Since then I have done much more traveling. Luckily since being given ear planes, plastic screw like things, to wear in my ears I no longer get pain in my ears when I fly. [maximax8]
Thanks for giving me the best response. I am delighted that you enjoy reading my writing and appreciate my description. I hope that you will go to London one day. There so so much there to see and do. How did your sister get on in Germany? Greece is lovely for its historical sites and its wonderful island hopping opportunities. [maximax8]

my first airplane ride was when i was 3years old ,when my family moved to the US from Sicily,Italy [mrpippo]
Ooh Italy, now that is one place I would love to visit. How long have you been in the US now? do you still get to go home now and then? [maddysmommy]

happyMy first airplane ride was from Arkansa to calif. & it was during a storm & I will never forget seeing the lightning outside the plane. It scared the you know what out of me!! I still do not like to fly at this age...Lori [dumblnddzzy]
shocked oh that would of freaked me right out Lori if there was thunder and lightening while I was flying. thumbdown [maddysmommy]

Oh wow, sounds like you had a blast out here. You took Los Angeles by storm. I have been here all of my life and have not been to a water theme park. But I guess it is just as well since I do not know how to swim, hehe. Now let me see, there is so much that I want to say about my first plane ride. And when I take it, you will be the first to know, LOL. [Rozie37]
thumbdownIt is not for lack of opportunity that I have never flown. I do not want to soar over the clouds. If I get frightened, there is no way to bail out. [Rozie37]

Many was surprised when I said my first airplane ride was to a far far place - London, alone with my sister. Most people will travel to neighbouring countries first before venturing far. I am exception. I venture far but not the neighbouring countries. [whyaskq]
I was there for a week, out of which about 4 days were spend travelling on the road. The flight to and fro is already more than 30 hours. We took the local tour, visited museums, parks, shopping. We even travel to Oxford. It was thrilling to meet with a police cordon on our first day out alone. [whyaskq]

i went on my first airplane ride when i was 4 to menorca-i was really, really scared at the time but ive been on a plane a good few times since then and i don't mind it at all now [samsterrules]
Menorca? I have never heard of such a place so I just googled it and the pictures that came up were WOW beautiful. I wouldn't mind traveling there happy Thanks for sharing. [maddysmommy]

I have been in planes so much in my life. I don't remember when it was or anything about it because I was just a baby. I do know we were going to Florida to see my grandparents, my dad's parents. My mom also told me that I said my very first sentence on that plane ride. I told my dad, "Leave me alone!" My husband and I were actually just talking about this because my daughter said her first complete sentence not too long ago as well. Her's was, "I see you!" [moneyandgc]
w00t I had to laugh at what you told your dad on the plane. and as for your daughter's first words, that is very cute ... I can just imagine you two playing a game that involves those three words :) [maddysmommy]

I was 15 years old and instead of the Quinceanera (crap that they do, some of kind of party when you turn 15) I decided to take an airplane and go to Austin TX. Why TX? MY uncle lives there and I hadn't seen him years. Plus my dad gave me $300.00 and I went shopping in Austin. I remember I took SouthWest Airlines. It was such a great trip. [cmofi123]
I have heard of those but not really sure what happens during the Quinceanera. Glad you were able to fly off to Texas, that is one place I have not been before. [maddysmommy]

I didnt know you twin. That sounds like a great trip! My first plane trip I took by myself and I was scared to dealth.LOL I went to see my sister who lives in Florida. The only thing I dont like about planes is the take off. We Universal Studios too and had a great time. [TerryZ]
Yp I have a beautiful twin sister who lives in New Zealand and whom I miss everyday but thankfully for email and phones, we keep in touch as often as happywe can. [maddysmommy]

Mine was in 1988. I had gone to the Keys with my dad and step-mother on vacation. It was a trip of firsts actually. While we were there, we went on a sea-plane. At the end of the vacation, I was going to spend the rest of the summer with my grandmother so I had to get on a little 10-seater airplane and fly to Miami airport. From Miami airport, I took a regular jet-plane to Tampa airport where she was picking me up. So the first for me ended up being 3 different flying experiences altogether. [michelyn]
The sea-plane was quite scary at first since it was truly my first flying experience and the pilot was doing tricks and trying to let us see things in the water. He would bank to one side or the other so we could see stuff like the school of Sharks in the water. There were sooooo many of them, but they were beautiful (as long as we didn't have to get out there). The plane dropped us off at the fort so we could snorkel around it. When we were done, we took the sea-plane back, but it wasn't as adventurous on the way back. Each plane was it's own experience. [michelyn]

my 1st travel experience is when i go here in saudi to work that was 2003 and im 22 yrs old that time and now i almost ride 6x in the plane but the same destination vice versa philippines to saudi on my 1st flight i feel very happy and excited i dont even feel afraid:-) [pinay81]
That would be an interesting place to visit for sure. Did you enjoy your stay there? [maddysmommy]

That's cool...i had not much of a choice for my first one..i was and still am scared of flying but when i was 14 my class was going on a school-trip to Sicily ... I attended school in the North of Italy and I was used to go to sicily by car with my parents for the holidays...but its a 13 hours ride by car with little stops, so by bus or train with the school it would have been impossible...i just tried to stay as calm as i could but the truth is taht i was very scared lol at least i remember we spent the whole time my friend and I drooling at some steward on the plane LOL...it made the trip less scary:p [JoMarch]
haha that would of taken your mind off the flight altogether I bet :) Italy now that is one beautiful place I would like to visit one day. [maddysmommy]

it was when i was 25, went to taiwan to work. i wish i could fly again, this time just to visit other countries in asia and west, but i probably won't. Travelling is much much like a big luxury here in the phils. most of us average would fly by plane to work overseas. [crisesand]
I would like to visit a few Asian countries too one day. How long where you there in Taiwan or are you still there? [maddysmommy]

it was in 2002, and we had to fly with a tot and newborn to go to England. [kimberlyjt]
The flight was ok, not to bad. England was great, getting use to the roads was not easy. We want to go back and see more of it. [kimberlyjt]

I had just graduated from high school and turned 18. It was 23 July 1975 and I was on my way to Marine Corps boot camp. That first airplane ride set the pace for many more during my 21+ years on active duty. I retired 11 years ago and have only been on an airplane a few times since. [Ldyjarhead]
happy Good for you Ldyjarhead! WOW 21 years of service that is AWESOME. I'm not sure if I would of been able to handle a boot camp let alone a Marine one, that must of been very hard. Thanks for responding :) [maddysmommy]

My first airplane ride was 10 years ago and I traveled to New York (The beginning of Feb. at night). I was actually petrified to get on the plane, but once we took off I was fine. Half way there we encountered a snow storm, but seeing New York lit up at night was absolutely beautiful. [Chey1970]
I don't like flying when there is a storm, scares the hell out of me and I'm sure many others. I have not been to New York by plane but have gone past it by train when my son and I were visiting relatives in Connecticut. One day I hope to go and spend a few days sightseeing. We are just in DC so not that far at all. Thanks for your response. [maddysmommy]

My first plane ride was when i was 2 year old, and it was a over seas flight to Pakistan. I don't remember it much, but i have made the same trip throughout my life so far. I don't think it would have been so much different. [nosxtreme03]

wow.. 30 days is quite a long period of time, u spent there ^_^ For me, my 1st ride was in 2006, nov 30th, to bangkok.. hehe.. The travel was fun and it isn't as scary as wat most tv shows would say and show.. LOL [kun2349]
So u'r from new zealand?? It's a nice place and a place i sure wanna visit.. hehe ^_^ Yup, in fact ple in bangkok are very friendly and gentle.. Though they tend to be a bit slow in their daily movements, but they will put on a smile on the face always ^_^ [kun2349]

In march of 1996, my husband and I took a plane to VA from Pa. It was a first for me. Scared the bejeebers out of me. The flight attendent had to tell me to breathe when we got into the air. We flew out of Erie, Pa on a what is called a puddle jumper. Small, tiny air plane. But let me tell you what, once we landed in Pitts, to change planes I couldn't wait to get on again. I loved it. It was amazing to fly thru clouds. All and all it was a great trip. [PamE53]
Oh those small tiny planes give me the creeps too. I flew in one from Rarotonga (Cook Islands) to Atiu (one of the outer islands) and that was scarey. My ears were ringing for a day or two after that. But your right about the scenery as you're coming down to land, especially if you are heading to an island, so beautiful. [maddysmommy]

I was 6 months old and went from the UK to France. The photos seem to suggest that I had rather a good time! [wickedangel]

My first airplain ride I cant remember. I was 2 and we flew back to Vergina so my mothers family could meet me. I just know it was on a big jet. I havent been on a big plain since. I dont like flying. I did get in my uncles little plain when I was 6. That was ok. But there is no flying for me in the future. It sounds like you had fun in LA. I hope one day I can get out that way. That would be fun. ~WiteNgtOwl [WiteNgtOwl]
I did have fun thank you, my first time out of the country from New Zealand to USA so I made the most it. I don't like flying in small planes either and only flew in one when I was flying from Rartonga (Cook Islands) to Atiu (outer islands) and that was a little scarey for me. [maddysmommy]

I was about 6 years old & I flew to Italy to visit relatives. [robsbrooklyngirl]

My first plane right was just last month! I went down to Tampa, Fl for a wedding. We had to hop on 3 different planes to get there, because it was cheaper, and it took us 8 hours in total! I didn't really enjoy the plane, as I get motion sickness and my ears just wouldn't stop popping no matter what I did. In fact, even after I was already off the plan 2 hours later, my eyes still wouldn't pop, it was really annoying and I ended up just being sick my whole first day of vacation. Other then that, the wedding was beautiful and I got to see a lot of family that I haven't seen in awhile. If I had to take another plane, I'd do it regardless of how I felt about it or how sick I became. It was still cool to see the ground from that high up and all the clouds. [jenni7202]
Oh I can understand the reason behind catching several different planes to get to one destination, its unbelievable the prices they offer and how much cheaper it is as opposed to flying direct. I have on occasion taken motion sickness pills but then again three planes within 8 hours takes a toll on the body and especially the ears. Glad you enjoyed the wedding after all that :) [maddysmommy]

Hello maddysmommy :) My first airplane ride was when I was in second grade. A friend of my dad's landed his airplane in our back yard and took us all for a ride. We flew over the beach and the marshlands and then flew over our small town and landed in the backyard. [Transdisc]
Awww nooo that is not good. I thought it would be an experience but obviously not a good one. [maddysmommy]

Unfortunately I don't remember my first airplane ride. I was only an hour old. I was born in a real small town and needed to be flown to a larger city for a blood transfusion. My dad flew me there, he was the air ambulance pilot! I didn't get to meet my mom until I was a week old and she was released from the small town hospital and came to where I was for our first visit. [julievy]
Yes, I flew with him alot. He used to buy wrecked airplanes then rebuild them as a hobby. He would fly one around for a while, then sell it and buy another smashed one - so we always had an airplane. We flew all over the country. He loved to fly and eventually went to work for an airline. Thankfully even my kids got to fly with him a few times before he passed away. [julievy]

My 1st plane ride was in 1985, I went to San Fransico. I had a wonderful time there, visited some friends who had moved there a few years earlier. I ate my 1st raw giant shrimp, man was that good. Then of course I went to fishermens warf, china town, and hung out downtown. I really had the best time, and hope to go again some day. [Deea48]
happy I have never been to San Francisco and do have a few family members living there now. Its sounds like a fun place to go with lots of fresh fish and giant shrimp to eat :) yummy! [maddysmommy]

My first flight out of the UK was going to Germany as part of a Catering Training Programme I was doing..We flew to Switzerland and bussed over the border into Southern Germany to the Language School I was to attend for 3 months..I had a great time! [ShepherdSpy]
That sounds like fun to me too. I have a cousin who lives in London but is there in Germany for a job interview and I think she still may be there. Its amazing the places she sees and its nice to see it through her photos and emails. I hope to go there one day! thanks for posting! [maddysmommy]

Well, I am 50 years old and I have never been on a airplane, and guess what.....I NEVER want to be on one either. Sometimes I think I would like to fly, and whatta ya hear...another plane hi jacked, exploded in mid air, crashed in the Atlantic (and I cannot swim), I shouldn't worry about not swimming anyway, I would not make it to the water alive...LOL! Just something I have never done. [kcook57]
Keep in mind though, that flying is much safer than driving. Consider how many people are killed each year in auto accidents, versus how many are killed in air crashes. [julievy]

I went to American, it is my first airplane ride, I don't have much fun in there.because it is a business ride. And I have much works have to been done in there, maybe in the holidays, I can go to there with my familys as travellers. [zhangqweqaz]

My first plane ride was on August 16th, 2007, destination, Las Vegas, NV. My mother in law is a VIP at the Tropicana Hotel so we took this trip, my husband and I and my mother in law. For me I was very very nervous, the plane ride was shakey and I was on edge for the entire hour and 15 min it took to get there. I was happy when we landed at our destination. I was still very nervous however. [rockvixen]

My first domestic plane ride was exciting.. my cousin wants me to accompany her in her town so she ask me if i want to go and i said yes. [ayou82]
Where did you go ayou82? [maddysmommy]

I honestly do not remember. I started flying before I could talk. But I do remeber best the first time I flew alone. I was 14. My uncle had called to see if I wanted to come to San Deigo.A week or so later I was on the jet, window seat. I too got a trip to Disneyland out of the deal. Plus I got to spend time with my uncle. At the time,my uncle was my friend ,my idol, the coolest person in the world. So I jumped at the chance to go! [ersmommy1]

My first airplane ride was when I was 5 years old, probably in 1960, from North Carolina to Los Angeles. My Dad had gone ahead to California and gotten a job and an apartment, and my Mother and I flew out there. I remember looking at the tiny little cars and people after we took off. I thought it was wonderful. The girl behind us got sick and I think she pretty much stayed that way the entire flight. I remember feeling sorry for her. lol I haven't been on a plane since! We lived in Compton and Hermosa Beach. I loved it. Unfortunately, we moved back to North Carolina about a year later. [CherylsPearls]

This is a vey hot and popular discussion,a lot of people have joined in this topic. So do I. Firstly,I felt very happy and coincident to hear that you have a twin sister, because I have a twin brother!Maybe we can travel together to some famous place one day. That must be quite intetresting and fantastic. Secondly,I really admired your bravity and courage to travel so far because of traveling dream. Now,I have been nearly 26 year old already, however,I have not travelled by air.I really want to have a chance to experience that kind of traveling---airplane ride. Lastly, when it was 1987,I was just 5 years old. hehe:) [sashuangqingfeng]

Hi maddysmommy, my first airplane ride was to LasVegas after I turned 39. I hated the airplane ride but loved LasVegas, the Casinos were huge and just beautiful. I have also been to Disneyland like you but we drove instead and it was such a long drive that I would have loved to have taken a plane instead. [kimlot]
You would love the beauty of the Casinos also, they are all a work of Art and breathtaking! They are so huge and you get exhusted just walking through one casino. The shows are awsome also but the Casinos are just beautiful and fun. Hope you get to see them someday there is nothing like Las Vegas! [kimlot]

wow. you have already gone to Disneyland? wow. lol what did you see in the Knotts Berry Farm? when i first rode an airplane, i was 18 and just about to enter college. my university was my destination when i first rode an airplane. it was really far but the 1-hour travel made it feel like its just near. i could travel on ship, which i have done once, but it takes a long 18 hours before i reach the destination. so during my entire four years of college, i have ridden an airplane for about 14 times. 4 times per school year minus two times when i traveled on ship and on land. the four times was when i go to the university for the start of the first semester, then go home on Christmas vacation, back again for the start of classes on January and back home for the summer vacation. happy [secretbear]
so its an amusement park? i thought it was a plantation Farm of berries. lol 14 rides do sound really a lot but now i can't barely remember it. i kinda miss riding an airplane. wink [secretbear]

What a fantastic way to celebrate your 21st birthday! My first airplane ride was to Florida on my honeymoon. We visited Orlando and St. Petersburg. It was in November of 1985 during hurricane season. We had a blast visiting Disney World and Epcot Center. I had to get used to the sudden downpours. Here in Ohio very seldom does it rain all of a sudden and then stop. I have some funny honeymoon pictures of my hair blowing straight back. [kelleydian]
Awwww your honeymoon? how lovely! We spent our first family summer vacation down in Orlando Florida last year for one week. I loved it there! [maddysmommy]

My first airplane ride was when I was six weeks old. I still have the wings the flight attendant pinned to the blanket I was wrapped in! I flew on a regular basis growing up, but now, I rarely do. I don't miss it much. [Myrilia]

My first plane journey was when I was about 13, and I went to tenerife with my mum and dad for a fortnight, it was really exciting and I got to sit by the window there and back! This would have been in 1986 sometime. I remember that we were at the airport about 3 hours before the flight as my dad liked to allow plenty of time and we sat in a cafe and had something to eat and we could watch the planes taking off. That was just as exciting as going on the plane, it was a brilliant feeling. [gemini_rose]
It was for me, not so much for my mum and dad, I developed my first crush there on the entertainer, he was gorgeous and I followed him around like a love sick puppy. I wanted to stay in the hotel all the time, and I sulked like mad when my mum and dad wanted to take me out for the day, oh I was a horrible child!!thumbdown [gemini_rose]

my first ride happened when im still very young..at the age of 5 years old..that was from cebu to davao..it was a bad experienced for me since i vomitted on the entire trip..and i feel weak and my head ached...i was miserable..saddoh [vanities]

i am sure that i am a rarety, but i have yet to experience my first plane ride! we have traveled, sure but always by car! i am hoping to at least go on a plane once before i die lol! maybe somewhere warm! [cher913]
Awww I hope you get to go on one too :) [maddysmommy]

For me it was in 1971 when I was just over 3, it was a fantastic plane journey to India and it gave me a love of flying. Erm stop! I know I was 3 because I've seen photos of me in India at that age before my brother was born and because my parents told me we went to India when I was between 3 and 3.5, to be honest - I don't remember a single thing about it. When I went there at the age of 8 again I didn't really remember anything but when I went as an adult I had some memory flashes of places I thought I'd been when I was 8 years old but my mum said they're memories of my trip when I was 3 as we didn't go to those same places when I was 8... I don't recall the plane journey at all though :) [anonymili]

I was seven, and my mother took me, my brother to her native Caribbean island of Dominica West Indies to take her mother back home. She had brought her to the U.S. to stay with us for good, but my grandma missed her family down there, my father had his mom living with us as well and they got along, but my maternal grandmother, this was her first trip to the US to my knowledge and it was a bit much I would gather for her. So we took her back a year or so later. Mind you we were living in New York City at the time, so that was an adventure mind you. [Savvynlady]
Wow very nice, Caribbean Island sounds like a wonderful place to visit. [maddysmommy]

My first Air Travel was to Bangalore on an Indian Airlines Flight in June 2000. It was a truly memorable experience to be in the skies. [ptrikha1]

I have not flown any where yet. But my family we are actually going on a cruise. This is actually going to be around Thanksgiving. What we are going to do is probably fly on to Houston. Then we are going to meet our family in Houston and fly out to Florida. So it sounds like fun because it is going to be a cruise. [DESMASTER2007]
Now that sounds like a wonderful trip to look forward to Des especially since it's a cruise. Never been on one of those. Hope you an dyour family have a lot of fun too. [maddysmommy]

I flew from San Francisco to Rapid City South Dakota on my twentieth birthday going back home and I loved it as I had never flown before. Everyone was so nice and the stewardesses were so helpful to a country girl straight off the farm. that was sixty years ago. [Hatley]

I can't remember the exact year but I was like around 5-7 years old then. We are going to my father's province which is in the Southern part of Luzon as a family. It was memorable to me because I puked on the airplane ride...ahahaha! I was not able to rid a plane again. Hopefully next year I can visit HK or go to Boracay. Who knows? [reejane]

After I graduated from the university in 1997. I had my first airplane trip to Xi'an with my good friend. It is a wonderful trip that I will never forget. I love China [youless]

I went to Cebu,Philippines where I saw Magellan's Cross. [asawanialvin0611]
