Where did you last take a plane to fly somewhere? Where was it? What airline? Did you like the experience or not?
With all the regulations and surcharges planes are putting out there I was really suprised when a couple months ago I took my wife on a vacation to Cancun, Mexico on JetBlue and had a very enjoyable experience (DVDs in the seats, XMRadio, lunch on a 2 hour flight...).
I have vowed not to fly as much as I have in the past and I haven't. I am not paying a bag surcharge fee and am not going to travel unless it is reasonable or I am in dire need.
What about you?
Thanks
Zelo

The last time I flew it was with VirginBlue (in Australia) from Sydney to Rockhampton via Brisbane. It was fine - but we were going to a funeral, so there wasn't any enjoyment factor. Before that, we went from Sydney to Darwin via Brisbane with JetStar. They were great, too. [guybrush]
I have never been to Australia so I am not as familiar with them as I am with European and American airlines. Glad you didn't have any problems on the flights. Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
I flew to Europe in April 2008. I am going to go again in September or sooner. I like SAS carrier. They are very nice. Yes, personal DVD and great dinner served. The only problem is with very high price for flight to Europe..... [polachicago]
Denmark... wanted to take a transcontinental cruise to there and my wife wasn't up for it so we ended up going to Spain. I am sure it was georgeous there! Zelo [zeloguy]
I went to Dubai:) My big sister lived there since she's working in Abu Dhabi airlines. And I go there with Abu dhabi airlineslol I like Dhubai. It's peaceful. I don't know why. I love it. And shopping there is likeee heaven! For girls maybelol And it takes 6hours plus to go there from my place, Malaysia. Phewwwwwhistle [ieeko89]
Thanks for the invitation! I will try to take you up on it in the near future. This winter we are going back to Morocco and that trip is not going to be cheap considering the financial crisis the US is in right now. Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
Does flying hte coop count? Just kidding hte last place I flew was to Wisconsin from Maryland, actually I flew into Chicago, and there was no bag surcharge fee at all. I can't afford to fly and I don't think that many people will continue to fly if I keep hearing about the stupid things that airlines are doing, weight surcharges, bag fees, this fee that fee, so I have not flown in a long time. Mooch [oneandonemakesix]
I completely agree with you Mooch and if people with more or less boycott those who are charging these fees then they will have to do away with them. When I went to Hawaii we took our regular luggage and because of souveneers and the such we needed to buy a new set (to be under 50lbs) and then carry a LOT of stuff on the plane. I can understand being under say... 75lbs for the sake of the workers but to be at 30lbs and then charge me for the opportunity to take a bag is ridiculous. Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
I'm afraid I do not travel by plane only by car and bus. I have heard though that it is getting to outrageous to fly anymore even with the free miles people rack up with their cards. [mtdewgurl74]
There are stories where the airlines are penalizing people who have the miles cards now... charging them a booking fee or whatever which I think is total BS. I think a lot of people will swallow their pride or whatever it is and start taking the bus in light of high gas prices and the airline fiascos.... Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
Well, the last time my husband and I flew anywhere was last September for my Mom's funeral. We flew to Montana then on Horizon airlines. Before that we flew to NJ on America West. These were both before all of the impossed fees that they keep on adding now, and back when you at least got pretzels with your trip. I too am not sure I can afford to go anywhere unless it is a dire need as well. [KrauseHome]
Sorry to hear about your mother but this does prove a point which is unless you are a business traveller there are a lot of people the fly out of necessity not out of liezure. I really think the airlines are kicking themselves right in the foot with all this crap they are doing. Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
i last flew to china to visit my cousins... i went with my younger sister and took singapore airlines. the service was great and we had alot to do during the 6 hour flight. i really enjoy travelling!!! [raclie]
That's great that you had fun during your flight. That is how I believe flying should be. There should be some fun during a flight no matter how long it is. Thanks for the answer Zelo [zeloguy]
holidays is one thing which everyone looks forward to. my last trip was to hongknog, shanghai and seoul. we were 25 friends together and it was a beautiful experience. i still miss those days where so many people went together for a trip. staying together, travelling together and having fun- this is how the holidays are defined. [dropofrain]
Oh those are places I want to fly to. My brother was in Seoul for over two years and absolutely loved it... even picked up some of the language and before I met my wife I dated a girl who was half Korean. Of course my wife wants to go to Hong Kong to shop and Shanghai... so much history there. Awesome trip Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
I flew from South Carolina to Michigan last may and flew American West. It was OK except I had a seat right in front of the toilet so I couldn't relax the seat. Had some stop overs because I flew cheap seats so covered some ground twice coming back. There wasn't any DVDs or any thing lie that. As the price of fuel goes up so do the expenses of flying the planes so they have to find some way to cover the expenses. [deebomb]
I am going to have to fly on a 'puddle jumper' in a few weeks... 150 mile trip on a turbo-prop plane. Thank God it will be just for an hour 'cause I really feel a lot safer in the larger planes. Thanks happy Zelo happy [zeloguy]
The last time I took a plane ride was to Texas to visit my family. I took US Airways and it was a pleasant ride for the most part. Of course they are one of the airlines charging for baggage so I may not take them again. They did provide snacks and drinks at the time but that has probably changed. It is sad that they are putting in all these extra charges and may hurt them in the long run. Glad to hear that you had a good experience on your trip. [kgwat70]
They did me a HUGE favor when I had a late arrival at JFK from Casablanca and there were no more flights except theirs that I could connect to. They found us a seat and didn't even charge us for the ride from New York to Florida (and we ended up at an airport closer to home than originally planned!). I am sure this baggage thing will go away if, like yourself, people don't use the airlines that charge for baggage... they will need their customer base back and find that it was a bad idea. Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
the last time i took the plan was i guess two years ago already. me, my mother, and grandmother went to manila to attend my uncle's ordination ceremony because he was already declared as a priest. we were there for just three days which was weekend because i got classes during weekdays. we we took the Philippine Airlines going to manila, and Air Philippines going back here. i just pray to be back to that place soon. [baebieDARNA30]
Sounds like you really liked it. I have an aunt who is from there (small town in Phillipines) and my uncle and she go there quite frequently. He has invited me to go with them and I have yet to have the time to do so but that is on my list of things to do. Thanks for the answer Zelo [zeloguy]
The last place I flew to was a momentous occasion because it was the first time I had flown on my own! I am not a keen flier so to get on plane in the first place was a big feat for me but getting on it ALONE was like OMG I am doing some adventurous for me! It was scary but I faced my fear and conquered it. As they say the only thing to fear is fear itself. I flew to Rhodes and it was part of my escape plan from the ex, so it was a double whammy, fond memories and I am sooooo glad I did it, 2 weeks away on my own, it was fun. I enjoyed taking off, but it was the landing that I wasn't keen on and the ears popping, I even sucked sweets and it still didn't take that horrible feeling of your ears popping, ouch! I don't plan to travel for a while because of the cost, I would love to go to New Zealand but the thought of the flying time puts me off, even with stopovers. [wolfie34]
And the wolf didn't need to be quarantined either LOL! Thanks for best response my friend, appreciated! [wolfie34]
In December I flew to Orlando, FL on a Jetblue flight. I enjoyed the flight. I loved how there was a tv screen for every seat. [angelbaby0852]
When I went to Cancun it was out of Orlando and like you I really loved the DVD in every seat... made the (short) flight seem that much shorter! Thanks for the response Zelo [zeloguy]
I flew from DC to Rhode Island for a conference on Southwest. It was a nice flight, but red eyes are always tiring. We needed to leave the hotel at 4:25 AM. [cripfemme]
Nice thing is usually it is all quiet... the airport is not crowded and you probably hit Rhode Island around 6:00/6:30am which gave you the whole day. I rather prefer red eyes they are just so hard to find sometimes. Thanks for the response. Zelo [zeloguy]
Dear friend, The last place I flew was in a domestic flight last month to my relative's marriage at Mumbai. I flew from Kochi to Mumbai. The marriage was nice and when I flew back to Kochi I had a nice nap too.lol [SHAMRACK]
That is great when you are able to get a little sleep when you are flying on a plane... makes the time go faster! Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
Oh man. The last place I flew to was Jamaica (on Air Jamaica lol.) I was originally born there so I visit every now and then. I am actually supposed to go back there with my family at the end of this month, but I am not sure if that is happening because air line tickets are so expensive nowadays. I actually haven't been in a long time. It's been a few years. I have mixed feelings of going since I'm excited to visit, but I hate flying on an airplane. If I could drive everywhere I would! I feel much safer. Ironically, I heard that driving is the worst possible transportation in terms of safety, which is probably true since I recently (2 days ago) got into a car accident when a car ran into the back of mine. [krayzietam]
Yeap that is true... driving is the most dangerous. When I visit Jamaica I go by cruise ship... even if I am going to stay there. It is less expensive and I am right here in Florida so it is not that far away. Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
I flew twice in my life, both times to the island of Tobago and thoroughly enjoyed both flights. These were years ago when you travelled there in twin-engined six seater craft and sat down and watch the wings flop up and down outside the window. The plane bumped up and down, the hostess, a slim East Indian, got some of the captain's coffee for me when I asked and when you touched down you jumped off the plane. Maybe one day I'll go to Cancun but there's nothing like island hopping in the Caribbean. Loads of fun. [Bluepatch]
Can I make the assumption that you went from Trinidad to Tobago... I didn't know their airport could handle larger planes than 'hopper' planes from Trinidad. Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
Last time i flew was to Doha, Qatar from the Philippines. I flew Etihad that had a stop over at Abudabi. It was an interesting experience I must say, then again, i was there for work... I love flying... Hopefully, my next trip will be to the US.. and I'm praying it'll be soon!!! [ceej310]
We would love to have you... remember though it is a LONG flight over here. Thanks for the response Zelo [zeloguy]
Jetblue was good for you was it? I've been really iffy about booking a flight with them simply becuase I'm really not all that familiar with the airline ya know... My last flight was a yr ago..I flew out to L.A to visit my gf for a week...I think it was American Airlines.. [Ravenladyj]
I really wasn't familiar with them either and didn't hear all that much good about them. People love to b**ch about whatever and never say what is good. Anyways enjoyable experience would recommend again. AA is a great airline (the largest in the world I believe) but I think they are getting a little greedy (or needy) and I can't personally choose them as an airline I would fly on right now. Thanks for the response. Zelo [zeloguy]
March of 2005 NYC Jetblue Sure Next flight - I wanna go to Puerto Rico again. Last time I went was 1989!!!!!!!!!1 [Mare73]
I was in PR just a couple years ago. I am sure it is a lot different then when you were there in '89 for sure. Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
The last time I took a flight, it was from Dublin in Ireland to Heathrow in London, where I caught a connecting flight to Toronto in Canada. Whilst standing in line to check in at Dublin, a lady came down the line asking if anyone was flying to Heathrow. When I said yes, she had me join another line, where I was promptly checked in and then rushed through to the gate for a flight leaving in 10 minutes. At 6am in the morning, it beat hanging around for 2 hours. At Heathrow, I was terrified! That place is HUGE! I got my flight ticket and then went and hung around near the gate for 2 hours so I knew I'd not get lost lol. lol The flight itself was with Air Canada and was pretty good, even if the food was as shocking as always. They had in flight movies, but I fell asleep after the lunch they served, and only woke up with an hour left on the flight time when the gentleman at the side of me accidentally kicked my knee as he stepped over me to head to the washroom. lol [angelwhispers30]
Sounds like not all was bad. Heathrow is one of the largest airports in the world... if I am not mistaken (and I may be) Atlanta is the largest (I know it is in the US). Glad you were able to get some sleep and enjoy at least some of the flight. Thanks for your response. Zelo [zeloguy]
It was several years ago, but it was actually the only time I have flown on a commercial airlines - and that was a trip to New Orleans for a business conference. [newtondak]
It is like the difference between being in a fishing boat and a cruise liner... Thanks for the response. Zelo [zeloguy]
The last place I flew was from NY to Fla .. and I hate to fly :) [Lafemcrafts]
that flight was almost 3 hours .. it was my first flight after 911 so it seemed forever .. I cried checking in .. cried the whole flight and looked like hell when I landed LOL .. [Lafemcrafts]
The last place I flew to was San Francisco. It was actually the return flight home. wink LOL I had flown with my family to Los Angeles to go to Disneyland when I was 7 or 8 years old. I don't remember what airline it was, after all it was about 25 years ago, but I do remember enjoying the flight, other than my ear popping so bad on the flight home that it ruined my experience and I haven't been on a plane since. blink Okay, so I had the chance to fly in a plane again many years ago, and I was excited to go, but the opportunity fell through, and I just haven't had any reason to fly in a plane since. [sacmom]
Well if there is no reason to fly then... well there is no reason to fly. I know I wouldn't do it just out of the joy of doing it but rather out of necessity. Thanks for the great answer Zelo [zeloguy]
Hello zeloguy Ji, Exactly a year back, I flew from HAL Airport Bangalore (India) to Baherain (UAR) on July 23, 07. My husband took me along with our first newly born baby , accomodated seperately inside plane. Normally, we Indiand do not part away such a small babies other tahn our laps, but I wa snot to voilate air traffic rules. She was strapped like a prisioner in her seat seperately. Flt was for almost three hrs. Everything was comfortable, except, i was always worried about my baby. We returned in October '07 to IGI Delhi and then to my home town jabalpur (MP). Have a great day. [shalu1975]
Awww that is great they had the sense to care. That makes things so much easier I am sure. Have a great day Zelo [zeloguy]
it was to the city of bangalore in india. we took a Kingfisher flight. they are really nice airlines. they also have DVDs, radio channels, Tv and also they provide good quality food. [subha12]
I am sure that made the flight a lot more comfortable for you. Thanks for the response. Zelo [zeloguy]
I flew back in November 2007 from Baltimore to Orange County, California. This was the first time in about 15 years I had flown. We were lucky and were flying first class, thanks to winning a grand prize in a sweepstakes. We had a great experience, wonderful food, great seats. Couldn't have asked for anything better. The only thing that was a little problem was the meals for one leg of our trip. We were traveling with a 6 and 10 year old. There was no way they were eating Salmon. LOL, I guess there was some miscommunication with the company who booked the trip and the airline. They survived. We want to take a cruise in the next couple of years and have decided to wait until the Port of Baltimore opens up for more cruise lines in September 2009. We priced flying to Miami for the four of us and it is 2,100 dollars. I don't mind paying money for a cruise but not that much for airline tickets. [kimbers867]
Chicago is weird. I dunno ALWAYS late. Atlanta is the same way but they are also the largest airport so I can give them a little slack. BWI is layed out funky. It seems you have to walk for miles to get to where you need to be. I really like Denver's new airport and of course my home airport of Orlando. Talking of cruises out of Baltimore... I have been all over the place (because of being in Florida) in cruises but never to Bermuda (too far north). I might have to take the 1,000 mile trip up to my hometown of Baltimore to take a cruise there since I have never been there before. Thanks for the answer. Zelo [zeloguy]
i travelled on a plane about 6 or 7 years ago and that was 2 greece it was a good holiday 2 would go bk again [playgirl2009]
That is great. I hope that the flight was as pleasant as the holiday was! Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
The last time I flew was in Singapore. I flew with Singapore airlines. A very luxurious aircraft. The experienced was good, and I did enjoy the moment in the plane for the crew are very nice, the foods are very yummy, unlimited wine, plus the hightecht gadgets inside it... [gelotan]
I wish they had the same kind of services on US flights... alas they are cheap. Thanks for the answer. Zelo [zeloguy]
My recent airline travel was back in February/March of this year. I was on board Qantas airlines headed to the very beautiful Australia. It was a good flight for me. I am starting to really enjoy this travel bug that bit me. LOL I am looking forward to my next adventures :-) [MariaD]
I have travelled A LOT over the last five years and you are exactly right... when the bug gets to you it is hard to resist! I hear that Qantas airlines are some of the best in the whole world (that was the airline in RainMan if I am correct). Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
My last flight was in May when I flew from Xian to Guangzhou (China). I flew with China Southern, and it was a pretty good trip. My next flight will be from Hong Kong back to Australia in September. After that, it's unlikely I'll be flying for another year, when I return to China again. [kriszelunka]
Wow those are all places I would love to visit that I have never been before (China, Hong Kong, Australia). I have them on my list of places to see and hopefully I will be able to make it over there to that side of the world. Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
My last fly was to malaysia truely asia- this country is just rocking, amazing night life and people are so cool that i really wish to visit there once more in my life.. I took spicejet airlines and its really a nice expereince for me.. [Ricky007]
Wonderful. Glad you had a great time! Zelo [zeloguy]
The last place I flew to was Hainan Island. It's a very nice place for us to visit. I really enjoyed the relaxing lifestyle there. The beach is just so beautiful and the water is clear. I love China [youless]
Sounds like you had a great time! Thanks for the response Zelo [zeloguy]
The last time I was on an airplane was when I was about 16 so that would be about 16 years ago! I don't even remember the name of the airline I think it was Delta I flew from Denver, Colorado to Los Angelos Callifornia. [luvstochat]
Do you remember the experience that you had? Was it your first time or have you flown before then? Thanks Zelo [zeloguy]
the last place i flew to was lanzarote, the flight there was brilliant but coming home we got delayed by 3 hours due to bad weather and hit loads of turbulents, we flew with ryan air i believe [barbie84]
My wife is from Morocco (where the Canary Islands are off of) and they are still very upset that the Spanish 'stole' the islands from them. I will have to put that on a list of places to see the next time I go over there. Thanks happy Zelo happy [zeloguy]
I have actually never flown anywhere in my life. But I am only 18 so I do hope to fly somewhere someday. I hope to travel to another country like japan or china maybe, [sassygirlanne007]
Finding the deals to me is part of the fun... having all the web sites to go to and trying to find Coupons online and the such and then when I do find a great deal it makes me feel so great and then to be able to have the time to take some time off just makes it that much sweeter.! Thanks happy Zelo happy [zeloguy]
