I wish that I could go to Sydney, Australia. I have heard that there is the most amazing firework overlooking the harbor. Sydney is my favorite city in the world so to be there on such an amazing night would be perfect.
I know there are many other New Year celebrations in the world. It is a time to enjoy and a moment to make some plans for the New Year. I have spent three New Year Eve's overseas. I spent one on a beach in Queensland, Australia, another in Northland, New Zealand and lastly in a hotel room in Turkey.
Where would you most like to celebrate New Year? Why?

Hi, I'd really love to experience New Year on the Space Station. For a few hours, they pass back and forth from one year to the next. "Happy New Year", didn't we just do that? [VKXY62]
If Mylot had a 'like' button I'd press it! [coffeeshot]
Last year was the first time we spent New Year abroad. We live in Spain now, so we went to a fiend's house for supper, then hired a people carrier to take us all down to the village to see in the New Year in the square. We were given party packs with masks, streamers hats and 12 grapes, to eat on each stroke of midnight. The bars charged the same as they do every other day of the year, and we saw in the New Year with hundreds of locals. Everyone had had a lot to drink, but there were no problems, and there were fireworks, lots of kisses and hugs and plenty of cava. It's the best New Year I've ever spent, and I can't wait to do it again this year. On New Year's Day, everyone goes to the beach for a barbecue, and a jazz band plays all afternoon. I can't think of a better way to start the year. [Sandra1952]
I haven't celebrated New Year in other place except my house with my family. If I were given a chance to celebrate it in other place, I would choose to celebrate it in the province with my family and relatives. [ilovechocolate]
Hi,maximax,i used to celebrate new year in my house only.My wife and daughters decorate like a beautiful dais..balloons..different shapes candles...different interior decoration items..prepare good tasty food items..we sing, dance,do phones in between. That will be upto 11.59..by 12.00,we share greetings and go to bed after attending some phone calls of new year wishes. [Baluyadav]
I would most like to be at home with the children in bed as that way i can relax seeing the New Year in so that i do not have to worry about the children when i am out as well as worry about how i am going to get home. [jugsjugs]
I think I would like to go to Thailand for New Year maybe one of the beach parties! Although I would love to do this it probably wouldn't happen for many years yet! lolx [frankiecesca]
Hi, I mostly prefer to spend the New Year with my family at home. I think the trips to another country or city or some stupid to me, Christmas and New Year are family holidays and I would like to spend them at home, among my relatives and friends. [nautilus33]
for me... anywhere as long as i am celebrating New Year with my family... i prefer home... i love being home with the presence of my family... =) [krystalheart]
Hi Maxi. Which beach did you spend New Year's on in Queensland? I live on the Sunshine Coast. I would love to spend New Year's in New Orleans. I planned a trip to the south at the beginning of the year but was unable to go unfortunately. I read up about New Orleans being such a festive, happy place with excellent food. I think the New Year's celebrations there would be absolutely fantastic! Maybe I can make my dream a reality! I hope so! [coffeeshot]
Hello friend, i have not think about it, we have not discussed it yet, Its true it gonna fun celebrating it from another country/city or settings, i will take this up to my wife, nice thread. [mrfdg1972]
Hi max, the fireworks on Sydney Harbour are arguably one of the best in the world, and are usually shown around the world, at Eastern Daylight Saving Time. Personally, I would rather be watching the modest fireworks on the beach at Bang Saen, Thailand, but I'll have to wait until next year for that. [mipen2006]
Hi Maximax, I am really appreciating your more interest to celebrate the New Year celebration at Sydney, but at the same time I would always want to celebrate the New Year function at my own place with my friends and family members, because we are preparing lots of special foods in the same day of New Year, so it is the best thing to celebrate with all the loved ones together and to have the great enjoyment in the function of New Year. All the years nearly 10 plus more years I am celebrating the New Year at Overseas, but now I would like to celebrate at my own place with all my friends and loved family members together. Have a great day. [Binthu]
The Sydney fireworks are amazing! They light up the bridge with fireworks and have all sorts of things happening around the harbour. I have seen it on TV as it is televised each year here. Which Queensland beach were you on? I would like to watch the fireworks here on the Gold Coast from Point Danger which is where the Queensland/New South Wales border hits the coast. Because NSW has daylight savings and we in QLD do not, you get to celebrate going into the new year twice. You can jump over the painted line on the ground and go back a year in time...LOL lol As for overseas New Years celebrations, I would like to check out Times Square in New York city. I have been there once before in the spring time, but I would like to see it on this occasion just for the atmosphere that they have over that whole Christmas New Years period. I am sure that due to the massive crowds there, that the fireworks would not be as easy to see as they are on TV, but the atmosphere would be incredible! [RawBill1]
New Years is not a big thing to me and it hasn't been for many years now. I just don't get so wrapped up in it has much anymore. Its changed alot since I was younger when I thought it was a big to do. I guess to me it has become just like any other day. I will celebrate in my home with family, a glass of wine and some finger food and call it a night. It wouldn't mean much to be in another country on that day. I guess I feel its so overblown and for what, we are just bringing in a new year which most times nothing will change from last year. Oh, we could wish and pray for better things to happens and all that but if you really think about it nothing really changes. We still have wars and no peace in the world. We still have murderers, rapists, robbers. Sorry for the depressing response but the holidays are not what they were when I was a little girl and not even when my girls were little. [lelin1123]
we just celebrate at home with my mom and 2 younger brothers.. we all just gather we eat and fire some fire crackers [dyan_wafa]
Hi, Maximax, In advance ,Happy New Year to you! I like to spend the Spring Festival with my paents, wife, broother and sisters. We together prepare the boiled dumpling to celebrate the Spring Festival. It't a pleasure time to celebrate the Spring Festival with my family. But unfortunately i have two years not to go back my hometown ,it's difficult for me to buy the ticket of train, because it's very uptight. So i have to spend the Spring Festival on the city--SuZhou of my working by myself. [Bobli08]
You are right about, there are places that are really beautiful and most likely happy to celebrate on those places when New year comes. But for me, it is better to stay home with my family, and pray so we can thank God about another year that he gave us. Id rather stay home with my family as we all celebrating New year happily and simply than going to places that will cost me and give us a little bit of tired body. It is best to stay home so i can enjoy the things that we Filipinos do when New year is being celebrated. We light our own fireworks, we sing with our family, we enjoy the moment of having each other again. If we travel we cannot bring the whole family outside. Therefore it is better if i will stay home, at least i am with them. Celebrating New year with my family and seeing them happy celebrating another year of love, peace and prosperity makes me happy and satisfied. Cooking foods for visitors and relatives makes me happy, preparing the celebration for new year makes me happy, cause i know the people that i will be serving will be happy too. One things, it is new year we cannot control other people to fire guns and etc.. it is better to stay home for safety and if anything happens at least i am at home and my family can bring the wounded immediately to the hospital in order to prevent further loss. New year celebration for me.. is for the family and celebrating it with our home makes it perfect and lovely. That is my thinking about new year's celebration. [rjvb26]
I guess I will just stay with my family like the last 6 years. I dn't think I have a choice. [Jensie]
Hi,maxima! Every time Christmas and New year comes i feel sadness, maybe because i had poor childhood experience. If given a chance to celebrate New year anywhere I probably would like to celebrate it in a beach resort with my family(with my sisters family too),there we could spend more time with each other. [simonelee]
We usually stay home and do not celebrate New Year. My husband fall asleep by 10 or 11 pm on New Year Eve. I watch the celebration on TV and a few time fell asleep before midnight. If I could go someplace I would like to go to Las Vegas, Nevada I have always wanted to go to Vegas and not just for the Gambling but just to see all the lights and shows. Also would like to take tours of different sites around Las Vegas. [happy6162]
We really celebrate new year here in our country. It seems like a huge party every-time new year comes. We cook different dishes and we even buy fireworks so that the celebration is complete. But the most important thing is the family should complete every-time new year comes. [junmae]
Oh yah! i wanna go to Sydney too...i heard they celebrate new year there with a bang. They really spend alot of money there only for this event. New Zealand is great too being the first place in the world to welcome the new year, im dying to celebrate new years day there. I dont have any plans yet for the new year. I will probably throw a party out in our balcony overlooking the Metro Manila skyline. Yah, that will probably what im gonna do. I will invite my friends, have some cocktails and party. Everyone is invited, you should come maximax8. [stephon8]
When my mother is with us, I have to stay with her for the holidays, whether New Year, or chinese Spring Festival. Young people would choose travel during the holidays, many going to Hongkang, Macau, and Taiwan. For its geological location, Australia would be a special place for celebrating the New Year -- such warm weather while extremely cold in the northern hemisphere. [zhuhuifen46]
Wow you always spend the new year celebration abroad :) it was very impressive. I would like to welcome new year abroad, but i have not been able to do that :(.During my early years was always welcomed with joy to share with friends in my city :) maybe if it possible i would like to welcome the new year 2010 in Singapore :) [Prima641]
I celebrate New year's eve only inside the house since it's our tradition not to stay away from your own home when meeting the new year. [xannebull]
New year is very important for me as well and it's a good time to spend time with your family. Maybe anywhere, where we can spend time with my family...me, my mom and dad and my 2 siblings. I love to spend time with them during New Year. [joannaleed]
Yeah, with the coming of the New Year, it is time to make a detailed plan for the desirable holiday. For me, I have planed to go back home and get together with my family. During the whole year, it is difficult for me to visit my parents because of my own career. So, for me, the New Year is the best chance for me to gather to have a big party and share the experience. Sometimes, if I won't go home, then I often tend to have a travel around my country, which is enjoyable too. Happy myLotting! [getbrowser]
I would like to go to sydney austrlia because i would like to see the beutifull fireworks they have on the harbour [samfty]
I'm not that keen on celebrations, so I prefer a nice, quiet evening at home with my family. It sounds as though you've had some really exciting New Years celebrations. I hope this forthcoming one will be just as exciting as you wish. [6precious102]
At home like I do every year. Not a party person. [marysia66]
In bed. No, I'm not kidding. I have to work the next day (it is Friday and I don't get holidays) so I'd like to get a good night sleep WITHOUT mortars going off outside my house! [ElicBxn]
I am planning my new year in Denmark. Actually this will be my very first new year abroad coz i haven't traveled anywhere yet in the world. If everything goes according to my plans then i will be in denamrk on new years night and i am quite confused also coz i dont have any friends or relatives there so i think it could be a boring one or maybe i can be able to adjust quickly and can find some good peoples to have fun on the event. Have you ever traveled to denmark if yes how was your experience. [rockydam83]
In our place we used to celebrate the new year in our traditioanl way "staying at home with family". But I'm very much open to changes. If I can afford and given a chance to celebrate the new year's eve abroad why not I would love to. Im trying so hard to enjoy life as long as I can. I think celebrating in abroad would be so perfect with my family. [mrssator2002]
I have spent one in London at trafalgar's square, one in Germany lighting fireworks in the back streets of my friend's home, and one in new york when the huge ball was lowered. but now I prefer spending new year's with loved ones. there is nothing about a place that makes it special more than the people who are in it. :) [squaretile]
