It seems to me that the Philippines would make to most perfect travel destination. It is a tropical location with hundreds of islands, gorgeous looking beaches and superb wildlife. I would like to go to Bohol Island and see the amazing looking Chocolate Hills. It would be superb to see the Palawan and have an adventure there. The people are really friendly and I think prices there are reasonable. Flights go there from Hong Kong and Singapore with connections worldwide.
Would you like to go to the Philippines? If so why?
Are you lucky enough to live there? If so where do you most like to spend time?

Hi Maximax8! I am from the Philippines myself but I'm now living in Ireland with my Irish husband. I was lucky enough to live there for 29 years of my life. I live in the Davao City which is the in the south of the country. The city in itself the most peaceful city in the country and is commended as one of the top 20 most livable city in Asia. It is child friendly and the Mayor is very strict but very good. I would recommend that if you do visit Philippines, visit Davao city and see the tourist destinations and experience how nice the people are there. Just one question though, where are you from maximax8? [jcay_lorna]
Hi there my friend I am glad that you consider my country one of the places that you would like to visit. I am glad you know few of our most wonderful places and tourist destinations. Well I just want to remind you to take extra care when you get here so that you will have a wonderful experience. I want to be honest with you by saying that some of the prices of the commodities here related to traveling are reasonable but there are also some people who are overpricing. When it comes to transportation fare, it is fair enough but when you arrive to your destination let's say in Bohol's famous Chocolate Hills, be careful because some may take advantage ones they see foreigners. I spend most of my time together with my husband in Baguio City because we are in a not-so-cold place. We are here in Manila and it is hot here especially during summer. I wish I could be more proud of my country because we are really rich when it comes to nice places and historical spots to visit but due to some of my fellowmen here who adds to this country's bad image by their bad doings, I sometimes ask myself that this country is pathetic. Anyway let us be more positive and look forward in you getting a nice vacation here (if ever) and I hope you could go to some of this nice places: Subic Bay in Zambales, the nice perfect cone-shaped Mayon Volcano in Albay (Bicol region), many-to-mention nice spots in Baguio City (but I think this will be on the bottom of your list since you are already in a cold country) lots of old churches in Ilocos Region, Intramuros in Manila, Boracay Beach in Aklan, and lots of other wonderful beaches in other provinces of the Philippines, the Banaue Rice Terraces in Benguet, Palawan of course, Taal Volcano in Tagaytay and the famous Hundred Island in Pangasinan. I still have a lot in mind but just check this site http://www.citasite.com/page/page/5433882.htm for more info. That's all! [Yori88]
Hi maxima, I am from the Philippines and I miss it so much! LOL! I miss going to the beach which is my activity with friends every week or spending time in the falls! Anyway, I am from Negros Island which is 45 minutes boat travel going to Bohol..I've been in Bohol three times and will always love to go back there! LOL! My Parents' house is far from the city. But I love it. I was raised there and I would love to retired there also! I will be sending a photo of where I was raised but this is not our resort! lOl...This is the resort in my place which is visited by a lot of tourist! http://www.antulang.com/new/main.html [checapricorn]
I have spent a little time in The Philippines, but found the cities a little dirtier than most other Asian places I've been to. There are over 1000 islands making up The Philippines, and many are beautiful. The people are friendly and helpful, but ferry transport between the islands can be dangerous as companies squeeze too many passengers on the ferries. [mipen2006]
Very happy to read your imput, and I'm sure with so many islands there are many magnificent places there, but I can only comment on places I've been to. I didn't like Manila that much, but I don't like Bangkok either, and I've lived in Thailand for ten years. I also spent some time in Cebu and found it very windy and dusty. You might like to suggest some other islands, However I'm not keen on any more ferry rides. Have a nice day. [mipen2006]
This makes me happy and proud that foreign visitors, such as yourself maximax8, would like to tour our beautiful country, the Philippines. Just don't mind the hussle of the Manila traffic and the overcrowded places and you'll do fine. Just take safety and security measures. I can see that you've already done good research on our tropical country. There are many tourist spots around here that you can visit. You can even go island hopping. I haven't yet gone to Bohol Island. I'd also love to see the Chocolate Hills. Maybe sometime soon my family can plan on vacationing there. Other lovely places I can recommend to you are: Subic and Clark. Also, Tagaytay, the climate there is cool. You can see the Taal Volcano and enjoy sumptuous meals (I have it on my blog http://writingknacks.blogspot.com ) If you're going South road, in Bicol, we have the majestic Mayon Volcano. In Donsol, Sorsogon, you can enjoy the beautiful Butanding (whale sharks). Boracay is also one of the famous beaches. Cebu is very nice too. I am from the Philippines and I'd like to explore more of my own country as well :-) [MariaD]
wow, as you can see, there are quite a number of us here in MyLot from the Philippines. like in any country, there are flaterring and not so flaterring spots in our homeland. I recommend that you go to the beaches and do some hiking as well. And if you feel like being "posh" for a night, pass by Greenbelt in Makati. It is one of the commercials districts in Manila that we are surely proud of. [natsvelascotan]
I live in the Philippines. I agree with you! We have lots of wonderful tourist destination here. In fact there are still virgin places that are yet to be explored by tourists. I saw a lot of them in Sorsogon and Palawan. I have an American friend who visits the Philippines twice a year just to go to Boracay, found in Western Visayas where the best beaches are found. I've not been to Chocolate Hills as this place is too far from my place but friends who saw that place say it is really a fantastic masterpiece of God and so beautiful to behold. I hope I could find time to visit that place as well. My hubby prefers to go to the beach during summer and summer is the only time of the year when we could travel. I wish I could convince him to change destination this summer so we could see ourselves the Chocolate Hills. [salonga]
nice destination my freind!!!. i am not lucky though, i am truly BLESSED to be here in the Philippines. the place that you were describing, too bad, i had never been to those places. i am in the south part of the country. but i tell you, it is really good and nice to be there.. the information that you are hearing are just exactly right. though there are really some bad news, but the government is really taking care of it.. and the prices? you are certainly right, it is really very reasonable. i wonder that if you trust me that enough, i could be your tour guide..hehe.. i am a teacher in one of the university here in the philippines. and the place that i am in is the home of the waterfalls.. we have around 29 waterfalls here. the city's name is Iligan city.. i hope you would want to visit this area too. and if you like, i can really be your friend. don't worry, i can be trusted.. i am a Born again Christian... i am a follower of JESUS CHRIST. and i am truly blessed to be in the only christian nation in asia.. hope we could meet soon.. Yes, I would like to have a travel to Philippines. After all, it's not far away from the place I live. I am from Guangzhou, by the way. I like the beautiful beach and I like the difference. So Philippines is a good choice for me:) I love China [youless]
i don't like to go to the phillipines. because i don't know the special of philippines. i don't know the people mentality and that's gorgeous items. [kanishfathima]
hello maxima, yes i would wanted to stay in philippines when i grow old...i want to spend my time farming as well as having a trip to boracay islands..palawan is great too..goodluck and have a nice day [marketing07]
In southeast asia, singapore and malaysia are most visited these days by mainland chinese. Tailand, India and Philippines used to be talked about, but for whatever reasons not very much promoted by the tourist agencies nowadays. I hope the situation there can improve soon, and agencies of these countries show initiative to attract more visitors. Anyway, Philippines is also on my list. [zhuhuifen46]
You're welcome to our city maxim. It is a city of surprises. Nature and city life blends well. If you get tired of the enticing night life, then nature calls one ride away. There are the Kaling rapids too if you would want to traverse the popular Chico river and go water rafting, the Visayas are also tourists spots. Here is an article which could give you some tips. http://www.helium.com/items/1180931-visiting-the-philipines [Jenaisle]
I would like to go. Though I am not planning any outing , and that too abroad. But Philippines is a great travel destination. I like it, and have seen nice videos and pictures of that place. Someday when I will have enough savings I may plan it. [moumitamazumder]
well,i think i do not want to go there now.at least now.i've heard some bad news from there before.such as political violence, inflation and so on.so that permanent peacekeeping force there from my country, and can not go back to spend the spring fastival.so ```` [myskina]
lolYeah sure ,I would like to go to Philippines as recently,I have watched a movie which is directed in Philippines ,I am longer for their clean atmosphere as well as the bright sunlight and the beach ,most importanly I want to see their unique culture which seems more interesting to me ... [comeonmolly]
It was truly an honor for me as Filipino to know that someone like u wants to go to the philippines.. And I am proud and lucky enough to live in the Philippines, I live in surigao (dinagat islands) and I spend almost all of my time going to the beach... [stormy09]
Reading your above discussion. Now i know phillipines is a very good place.I would like to spend my time in sightseeing and speaking with the people there.I would also like to ry out the tasty dishes there.I don't know the good places in phillipines.I'll go there and check it out.happyhappy [vicky30]
If I were not from here, I would like to visit this place too. And, sadly, I myself haven't been to those places you mentioned, Bohol and Palawan. I think that there is lot diversity in each province and island. Yes, prices are reasonable for foreigners. That only changes or is not true for us here, since it is harder to spend because it's harder to earn money here. [JDy116]
Come here now maximax8, LOL we are looking forward to see you LOL,would you like to meet to some fellow mylotters that's become your friends here? :) Anyway, check this site out, this is not unexploited and the paradise secret is still remain. Not been there yet, but the feed back is so amazing. Just 8hrs to travel by land.... Try it!It has 10 different islands to explore! http://www.caramoanislands.com/ [amazingheart]
Hey! I forgot to tell you, that one island there was a location for a "survivor" from France....wink [amazingheart]
I live in Davao City (Mindanao), just walking distance from the Philippine Eagle conservation facilities. Malagos, where I live, is also very famous for its flowers and orchids. You can also see Mt. Apo, the highest of Philippine mountains from my place. There are many great beaches in Davao City, in the neighboring provinces of Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte and Davao Oriental and in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS). Asiaweek considers Davao City as within the top ranking 20 most livable cities in Asia. People are very friendly, there are many fresh fruits and vegetables, and fresh seafoods are also plentiful. The weather is benign the year round. Accommodations are many, and the price very affordable. There are many flights to Metro Manila and other Philippine cities everyday. Land and sea transportation to major destinations in the Philippines are also available. WELCOME TO DAVAO CITY! Please feel free to ask for more information. [bantilesroger]

You seem to be an avid traveller. Certainly, I would like to go there to see those sceneries you described ' enjoy the breath taking scenes nature provides and take photos that will always be fun to share, ofcourse, you being the leader. [WallyB123]
I think it would be nice to go there for a visit. I'd have to renew my passport though. I assume I need one coming from America to the Philippines. Those passport things seem to take forever. Or at least they did seven years ago when I first got mine. [AmbiePam]
I live in the Philippines. I'm glad you mentioned my country here. I live here but I haven't visited many places here yet. I stay at the northern part. My hometown is really green. Mountain ranges are good image background when taking pictures. There are many white beaches here. Some are not really popular. Inform us when you come to visit Philippines... :) [wrangel15]
